  1. That looks like a real bargain - "Bangernomics" at its best.
  2. Never heard of claying until I came on this forum - some very good tips and advice here! Thanks!
  3. Hardly ever open the moon roof but I like the option because it lets more light into the cabin on dull days.
  4. Thanks again or I would have ordered the wrong paint.
  5. I am a bit conFused about you read out - is that shown on the SAT NAV? Mine is on the main dashboard?
  6. Wow! Thanks! Is the paint called Champagne? Also the second key's battery has gone but they could not open it as the thread on the screw had gone! SAD FACE! :( :( :(
  7. Went to my local Lexus dealer for some touch-up paint - "Sorry sir, your car is too old! We don't stock that any more!" They did give me an alternative supplier ........... Invicta Ford! Need to check them out.
  8. That Paul would be the least of your worries! I speak from bitter expwerience - Ultimate Driving Machine ..... ? You must be kidding!
  9. I am pleased you keep cars for an extended period - that way you get the best value - I did the same with my new car ... only just sold it ... as I acquired my LS 400! Really not knocking people who spend on a new car but I cringe at the depreciation! You have more than got your money back from the Toyota! But the cars need to be good to keep them long term without hassle and disappointmet - Lexus (in my limited experience) fullfil that requirement. I suspect you may keep your Lexus longer than you think! Enjoy the superb engineering with these cars! Remember, it could be worse, you could have bought a BMW! Enjoy!
  10. Please, no offence to you personally (Simpsoid) but mpg must be a minor issue when you are spending so much on a nearly new car. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that "banger" economics can work. The downside is, you get a rough car. But if you take an old LS400 the ride / performance and handling match many far more expensive cars. Picking the right "banger" (I use that term in the loosest possible sense) can save you a shed load of money. I do npot wish to denegrate memebers who have spent a lot of money on new and nearly new cars but it begs the question ..... is it worth it? I applaud your decision NOT to buy new. I have only bought one new car and regretted it - on depreciation only. I appreciate it depends on you financial circumstances but what do others think? Are there "wealthy" Lexus owners who run older cars out there? The answer is yes!
  11. Interesting article - Toyota have offered to share their patents .... are they getting worried that H2 may not be viable without other manufacturers going down that same route? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-34647343
  12. Brilliant Mike! I thought it was just my kids! They DO NOT look out of the window! Our nearest supermarket is 1 mile away and my 9 year-old still does not have a clue how to get there! They do not play like I used to as a child. They will build a Lego Star Wars ship and say "Finished!" "Are you going to play with it?" ........................ no they just look at it! Everything that interests them is screen based. It drives me mad! Am I just too old? Am I turning into my dad? Do I worry too much? The world is changing at a remarkable pace and I am afraid I am getting left behind. Some of the techy conversations on the forum is like trying to read another language. I love my Lexus but watching an old Top Gear episode the other evening - where they compared a Dacia Sandero / Fiesta and VW Up! - I found myself attracted to the Dacia as it had NO extras to go wrong or worry about! Sorry if I have gone off-topic.
  13. I do not like the front. It only has 4 seats - so I will not be buying one. That is not the only reason of course! ££££££££
  14. Saw an NX 300h parking in my local Sainsbury car park .............. not unusual you might think but this had French number plates. It was parking on electric - very quiet.
  15. Just come back from a trip (not in the Lexus) to Bristol and only saw one LS - LS430!
  16. New LS600 with all the toys £102k. New tractor unit and trailer £105k. Not a lot cheaper, but you've won your bet. That really surprised me - thought the truck would be much more than that! Lexus is still the better buy though!
  17. Lexus vs Ford .............. that is a difficult one! LOL!
  18. Really enjoyed that video - what fantastic engineering .................. and for the price (second-hand!) of a Mondeo!
  19. I wish they had been a bit closer! I want to get my MkIV wheels refurbished. They are not terrible but the car would look so much better with decent wheels.
