  1. Had a flat red car once - paint faded ......... also the seagulls seemed to bomb it more for some reason. I like that key ring idea. Green was a colour not liked by many people ............ my mum said they were bad luck and a relation said they are involved in more accidents because people do not see them as well. Personally I like the bright orange colour of Ford and Lamborghini.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/embed/6eGhjhx8O9M?rel=0 Tesla drag race.
  3. We used to give our dog Rescue Remedy (fireworks / thunderstorms) - it did calm her down to some extent and we were told by a vet that it would not harm her. Might be worth considering ..... it got my daughter through her 4th driving test!
  4. You really do keep your cars looking immaculate. If, eventually, finding a low mileage LS 400 becomes so rare - what other Lexus would you consider? Personally I like the LS 460 but members on here say they are not as good as the 400. Will this be the end of the road for such a quality car?
  5. We lost our old Labrador back in July but she hated fireworks (would not have made a gun dog!). She would go into the corner and try to dig a hole in the carpet. Thunderstorms often kept us up with her in the night. She was a nightmare, but we still miss her and her brother.
  6. I am so smitten with mine, that I will not use it if I don't know where it will be parked! LOL! I do exactly the same as Scribe, find the empty part of the car park, even if it means having to walk some distance. At the moment I am having to leave it outside, which I am not happy about! It is relatively safe on the drive but I much prefer to have it in the garage. However if the car is wet, I do not put it in the garage.
  7. The screw thread on my second key is shot. Went to local Lexus/Toyota dealer to get the battery changed and was told they could not open it and would not force it. Any suggestions? Drill it out carefully? The Key seems to work manually, so I am a bit reluctant to mess with it.
  8. I think the only difference between car drivers and motorcycle riders is the fact that on a motorcycle you are far more vulnerable to serious injury. There are bad motorcyclists and bad car drivers. Conversely the opposite is true. A good motorcyclist, who sticks to the speed limits and drives carefully is still at the mercy of other road users and their mistakes. We have all made mistakes and errors of judgement, probably more so when we were younger. The clip of that crash brought more questions to my mind. Yes he was speeding but did he have his headlights on? All immaterial now as the poor lad is dead. It is not good to generalise but certain car makes and models, in my own experience, seem to have more aggressive / faster drivers. BMW / Audi. / Mitsubishi Evo / Impreza. Most bikers enjoy a bit of speed, as do owners of certain cars, so it is not surprising that our own experience on the road seems to confirm the stereotype. There will always be exceptions to the rule. A neighbour, a young chap in his mid 20's I guess, has pranged his cars nearly half a dozen times to my recollection. He drives fast and aggressive but obvious hikes in insurance do not seem to slow him down. He now has a motorbike! Watch this space!
  9. Did you source the boot struts? I used Metrol.com for my bonnet. Link here: https://strutsdirect.metrol.com/
  10. Many of us like the look of a particular model but we only see it when it is parked - or someone else has stolen it! The interior / ride / comfort / luxury / boot space should be more of a priority but it isn't! I could also get used to a LS430's shape if my 400 dies. With all the toys in an LS, still my favourite features are the smooth ride / gear change and effortless power of the V8. Apart from the air conditioning, I think I could put up with other features that might not work in the future..
  11. Please may I ask for some advice as I have no experience in this area I would like to refurbish my standard Lexus alloys by bringing them back to as near orginal look as possible. I was considering getting a quote from Lepsons. 1) What do I need to ask for? e.g. paint / diamond cut? 2) Will I need to source a set of spare wheels while mine are being done? Are there other options - e.g. two at a time? 3) I would be prepared to leave the car with them? Is that a good idea? Many thanks in advance.
  12. Having done a little off-roading I have come to the conclusion it depends on the tyres used and the conditions/terrain encountered.. A good set of mud tyres will get you through some interesting mud swamps. Also I have seen some very well prepared 4x4's (Jeep Wrangler / Land Rover Defender / Range Rover / Jeep Cherokee) - lifted - diff lockers etc- that could not get up a steep grass slope! The only car to make it to the top was an OLD Kia Sportage (£600 worth!) with ordinary tyres! A friend had a Toyota Colorado Landcruiser and that was a very capable off-road vehicle. Put the correct tyres for the terrain and you would be surprised what some ordinary 4x4's can do. I also agree that every 4x4 can get stuck! Near Ashford, Kent, there was a Land Rover Off-Road course for potential buyers. The course looked very challenging but it had been designed so that no Land Rover would ever get stuck (hardcore/concrete under the mud!).
  13. Sorry! Welcome to the Club! Thanks!
  14. Any photos with the rock star? The car I mean not you!
  15. I have always preferred a car with lower mileage ............... less wear on most parts - but I do appreciate not all - as it depends - a low mileage car that has been driven to the shops may have more wear on the door hinges than a motorway cruiser. This might be down to my age, when I started driving a car was considered clapped out if it had near 100,000 miles on it. And rust? Don't get me started! Fortunately with a Lexus those days are long gone!
  16. Looked at the sellers website. Quite a few top class cars and top class prices plus some classics! LS 400 MUST NOW OFFICIALLY BE A CLASSIC!
  17. That video was very powerful and I admire his parents for allowing them to use it.
  18. Undertaking on motorways is now becoming quite common - you need eyes in the back of your head and check carefully before you switch lanes left or right.. Lack of road traffic police makes it easy to get away with. Years ago there were public information notices on the TV - to "REMIND" drivers of the laws of the road - they should bring them back IMHO.
  19. Yes ..... um .... I saw that one first but decided NOT to post it!
  20. Saw this ............. first a 460 then an old 400 - very impressive!
  21. That looks like a real bargain - "Bangernomics" at its best.
  22. Never heard of claying until I came on this forum - some very good tips and advice here! Thanks!
  23. Hardly ever open the moon roof but I like the option because it lets more light into the cabin on dull days.
  24. Thanks again or I would have ordered the wrong paint.
  25. I am a bit conFused about you read out - is that shown on the SAT NAV? Mine is on the main dashboard?
