  1. I do feel for you. My son (28) tries not to use buses (he does not have a car) because they always have a nutter on them. I disagreed. When I next went on a local bus ........... yes ...... there on the front seat was a man dressed as a pirate with a parrot in a cage. On the back seat was a transvestite, who kept shouting "Do you think I'm sexy?" My 7 year old was transfixed! I fully understand why he tries not to use buses! This is a TRUE story!
  2. Are they easy to fit? Any issues with the airbag? I love the wooden ones!
  3. Me too. But have you wondered what it will do to road congestion - keeping an extra generation on the road? Well, I'm hoping that there will be less of an issue with congestion if cars are driving themselves - junctions being more efficient as cars talk and negotiate with each other, motorways having 'trains' of closely spaced co-operating cars, and optimum routes being negotiated as well - plus fewer motorways closed for hours because of serious accidents ... This may be a real life saver in the future for people who for medical reasons or other are unable to drive. BUT ........ for people on this forum, I feel, driving is a bit more than just getting from A to B and having independent transport.. I realise that there is pleasure in driving - I enjoy it very much - but isn't comfortable safe independent travel from A to B the real reason most people would own an LS? If you want something showoffy, then you'd not get an LS, and if you want to push your driving skills, surely that's what track days are for? I think the future is coming faster than we think! : o ) I am afraid I must disagree with you Scythe. I don't think it is always about showing off or testing your driving skills. I bought my Lexus because it gives me great pleasure to drive it and at an affordable price (at the moment!). I have not bought the LS to show off, in fact the opposite. I really like the fact that few people realise that it is car that can stand alongside S Class Mercedes, BMW, Jags etc. without being noticed. Do I need a 4.0 V8 to do over 140 mph? Did I buy a Lexus LS just to get me from A to B? No is the simple answer to both questions. I find I drive my Lexus very sedately and I really enjoy the smoothness and quiet refinement. It is also nice to have that power if you want a quick blast. But, to me, owning a Lexus is more than just owning a car ............. it is hard to describe ........... it is something special. I have a BIG grin on my face everytime I put the key in and start that wonderful engine. No other car comes close to my idea of motoring Navana. I go out in my Lexus just to enjoy it!.

  5. That is the sort of result I like! Very reassuring
  6. Gutted for you - at least no one injured.
  7. I have always preferred a manual gearbox (owned 3 automatics) but with the LS400 the auto is lovely. Larger engine capacity seems to suit auto boxes more in my opinion. They are easier to reverse and to use in heavy, slow moving traffic - no clutch to replace. I only miss the engine braking you get with a manual.
  8. Due to my recovery period, I could not drive for 6 weeks. I thought it would be a nighmare but I did get used to it. But that was probably because I knew I would be back driving again. I think it can depand on where you live. My mother-in-law lives in the country with no bus service. If she could not drive I think she would be forced to move, as she quickly gets cabin fever if she is in for more than a day. I have noticed there are a lot more electric bikes around ..... wonder how long it will be before they have to be taxed and insured!
  9. This has happened before (not sure if it was on the Lexus forum) where someone had their license revoked and no explanation was given. They did get it back in the end. Very strange!
  10. I just pip the horn 4 times and dutiful wifey comes out and opens the front and garage door for me! Handy when it is raining!
  11. It is gut wrenching when you cherish your cars but it is not the end of the world. Out of interest, after the claim, does this put a Cat C or D on the V5?
  12. Not sure why but it did bring a smile to my face! Hand painted? Or did he use a roller?
  13. That looks good - I like the colour.
  14. I suppose we could counteract a possible accident by just sitting in the LS 400 on the drive? Knowing my luck a Top Gear piano would fall on it!
  15. Many hanks, I am pleased - as LS 400's in very good condition are getting hard to find. I do intend to keep mine as long as possible but like someone else said on here, you never know with accidents. I really like the look of the 460, it will be very interesting to see how they "age" when well over 10 years old - keep us posted!
  16. Thank you for your help Steve.
  17. Change of fluid and all seems to be fine - though there is still some travel in the pedal it brakes well.
  18. Thanks Steve, Will pass this info on to the garage. I am not mechanically savvy and rely on my garage (very trustworthy but are not familiar with a Lexus) but the advice and information is very welcome. Keeping my fingers crossed it is not the servo! £££££££
  19. I appear to have a similar problem. There are no apparent leaks but the pedal, when pushed hard, will go down to the floor. It still brakes. Getting the fluid changed tomorrow - so will see if that works - handy to know the other options. Can't understand how air can get into the system when it has been working fine - no loss of fluid. Will post the outcome tomorrow.
  20. If I owned that I would have to get a DIFFERENT wardrobe, that's for sure! Not to my taste but a lot of work and money has gone into that .... shame about the interior.
  21. I have not researched Dash Cams but I understand most need wiring into the car's electrics? Does anyone on here have a truly portable one, which plugs into the 12V (cigar lighter!) socket and can be taken out and placed in another car? I don't really want the hastle/expense of hard wiring. Possibly it is me getting old, but I find driving at "normal times" much more stressful than I remember a few years ago. The general standard of driving has deterioriated. People no longer consider it an art / skill to be mastered. Pass your test - get from A to B and sod everyone else on the road.
  22. No, this was at the main Mitsubishi Dealer in Cheltenham a few years back. He said he had never seen a Galant as good as mine...... but it was too old to retail. Their policy was not based solely on mileage and condition but also age. I did eventually get a good price for it at my local dealer - as he had a customer who was desparate for a low mleage example.
  23. Question 1: Here in the South-East from May to October 1940. Question 2: Hard one ....................John Arbuthnot Fisher on 4th August 1914.
  24. Good point! It will depend on the question on the ballot paper. The YES Campaign is to stay IN the EEC thingy!
  25. I tried to trade-in an immaculate Galant with 30,000 miles on the clock. Because the car was 4 years old the Dealer could not retail it, so the price they offered was derisory.
