  1. i would be interested in the mpg that 200d owners are getting.

Took delivery of a brand new 200D Advance about 2 months ago, covered around 4500 miles so far, tank average around 38/40 around town etc, recent trip Kent - Lancashire all motorway non stop speed around 70/80 average approx 48 mpg which would have produced around 650 miles per tank. Have to say I thought it would be better, hopefully it will be as we get a few more miles on the clock.

  2. Hello, I currently have an RX400h which I think is great but with the price of fuel rising at the rate it has been and the fact that I do between 25-30k miles per year I am thinking of going back to the IS model. The model I have looked at is the IS200D Advance, I have been told by the dealer that it has a newer engine than my old IS220D (06 model) and it is returning on average high 40's (mpg). I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this new model and also out of a full tank of fuel how many miles should I be expected to get. many thanks,

  3. Well I managed to drive teh 5 miles into work this morning in the RX absolutely no problems. Only issue was wipers couldn't shift the initial weight of snow, but after that no problems, even when snow was 6" plus.

Saw a couple of abandoned Bimmers on the way in.

My old IS's would never had made it.

Yep mine was the same in the snow, we had 6-8 inches and I was trying to find the deepest un-used snow I could - the car coped perfectly.

  4. Need your help guys

I currently own a IS250 08 plate and am looking to change to a rx 400h, good or bad??

    this is my dilemma

A toyota dealer has offered me a rx400h sr 07 plate for 22,000. 35k on the clock, does this sound like a good deal??

this is the dilema they got it from an auction lexus financial services sold it at the auction, so it looks like somebody didnt want it any more and gave the keys back and walked away???. so currently they don't know about the service history. they said they will contact lexus financial services for a duplicate service book and handbook, anything else I need they should get.

They don't know whether it has a full service history but they will give me 1 years toyota guarantee and a 40k service??

Is this a good move IS250 to RX400h, I'm going from a 08 plate to 07 plate?, as I cant seem to find a RX 08 plate with MM for under 22k.

They are giving me a good deal for my IS250.

Will I have alot of trouble with the RX, I need reliability.

Reasons for bigger, is I need more space for family and 4wd as rear wheel and snow cant take it anymore.

Any help is much appreciated? Im looking to keep it for a while a few years and hopefully get a beeter mpg then the IS250 in town driving.

Is the RX as luxurious as the IS250, I love the keylees entry and gadgets with the IS 250.

Where can I get the OEM dvd screens for the back?

Will I regret it and and end up running costing me more?? I know the 450h is out but it's way over my budget line ans really it a no no .

If its any help I went from a IS220D in Sept 08 to a new RX400H SR MM. I love the car and cant believe I've had it so long, its still a pleasure to get in and drive it as if it were new. I do quite a few miles per year (30k) and have had no problems at all, in fact I only got a new set of front tyres at 30K and my back ones are just about ready now (34K). I slightly miss the keyless entry and the push button start, but I can live without that, the MM is the same except you get a cassette player as well (how cool is that!). Performance is pretty good for a big car and my av mpg is around 30ish, I can get better if I drive slower. The family love it, we can throw our camping things in the back and go virtually anywhere and have some great fun. It has the luxury, the higher driving position, the power, the vesitility and the smile factor! Enjoy.

  5. Hey Guys,

    I got a 57 400h.

I'm getting 240 miles on a full tank (actually, after filling it up, I only had to add 52 liters, so it wasn't a full tank) .. seems wrong, driving in London most of the time, trying to keep to slow acceleration ... the computer shows average of 22.5 mpg .

Is it me or the car ?

    thanks

    mat

That seems quite low to me, i can get around 400 out of a tank if i do mostly m'way driving at around 70ish and 350-400 around town driving normally. I have noticed that the fuel consumption has dropped a little recently because of the colder weather.

  6. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any other 250c owners and would be interested in what they might think of their car.

I am very pleased with the car in general. There is a little bit more road noise than the saloon. Also there is some rattle from the roof (but I think a bit on lube on the seals might be all that is needed to solve that).

The 2010 HDD satnav system with gracenote, usb/ipod connection, DAB radio is a welcome upgrade. The sound is better and when the roof down it doesn't lose depth.

It is ever so slightly slower in acceleration than the saloon, but when the hood is down what is the point of burning off when getting the appraising looks!!.

One of the best new features is the extended seat heat/vent system which goes further up the back. Was roof down on a 10degree sunny morning and extremely comfortable. The climate control seems more responsive and effective than the saloon.

    So, any others out there?

I was lucky enough to have one of these this week whilst my 400h was in for a service. I have to say it was a very nice car, everything was in the same place as my previous 220D but it drove much better and the toys and gadgets were bang up to date (even more so than my 1 year old 400h). I have driven a few 250's and I have to say this was not much different to drive, quiet, comfortable and very smooth through the gears. It wasnt as quick as I thought it would be but I was quite happy to take it easy with the roof down given I only had it for a day. Space wasnt great in the back and as I have a family I dont think I could justify having this as our main family car, if there were just the 2 of us then I would consider a 250C next time.

  7. Hi

I've just bought a RX400h which as a bluetooth application to enable me to use my phone hands free.

My daughters want to play their ipods through the car stereo. The dealer can fit a FM transmitter so that the ipod can be put in the glovebox and plugged in, which I am sure is fine but expensive, or I can buy a FM transmitter for £20 on the internet (although I am told some of these don't give good results).

I wondered whether anyone had tried using a bluetooth adaptor with an ipod - such as bluenext or i0? The dealer reckons they won't work but I wondered if the RX400 would recognise them as a telephone and could be fooled into broadcasting them through the speakers.

Would love to hear from anyone who has tried this or has managed to get one of the adaptors to work.

    Alison

If it's any help, I bought an FM transmitter for my ipod and it wasnt great. The signal was at best poor or kept on fading out and you had to keep re-tuning - not great when you are driving. I opted for a Lexus fit ipod adaptor, thats fine, sound quality good, although you have to have your music selected and organised into playlists. I have my daughters old ipod in the car permanently, i can choose to listen to this or change to radio/CD/DVD very easily. You can get other kits which could even work out a little cheaper, I think Vias do a very good kit for the ipod (there is quite a lot of information on this form anout them) but i think you need to fit that yourself or get someone to do it for you.

  8. Hi all,

Im new on here and would like a bit of help / information please. I have just purchased a 07 plate 220d and in the 4 weeks that its been on the drive, Ive not been happy. At the moment the car is averaging about 32 mpg and when im on the motoway its not much better. big come down from getting 55-65mpg from my old 318d msport. the car has been back to lexus at bolton to get the dash fixed as it was creaking like a old barn door and to sort the fuel out, they told me the fuel was fine and that they had re-set the computer. the dash now seems to be fine but im still getting low 30s, and the car ticks over at 12000 revs, is this the norm, as I find it anoying listening to the engine rev so high. I have been looking on this site and it seems the is diesel has a history of problems and Im wondering whether to get rid now rather than later. I originaly bought the car due to the jd power survey results, I thought it would last me, but now after whats happened in the first month Im a little worried. also what should I be getting on a full tank of fuel, the BM averaged about 520 before the light came on. at the mo Im not hitting 400. has any one got any positives about this model, or are you like me, on the site as you have encounted problems.

I had a 220D for a couple of years and covered 60k miles from new, the average mpg was about 36 but depended on the way I drove it and where I drove it. On M'way at a steady 70 ish I could get up to 42mpg, floor it and it came down to high 30's, around town and on shorter runs low 30's. The higher revs was also the same on mine, Lexus did give me an answer for it but sorry cant remember what they said (it was 2.5 years ago and I have slept since then). Traded my 220D in for RX400H in Sept last year, love the car and can get around 32mpg all day long, even higher if I keep the speed down and let the Battery take over for a while. Good luck with the car, I would personally stick with it because i loved my 220D, the toys etc made it a very happy car to drive, very comfortable and Lexus Stockport have always looked after me from a dealer point of view hence why a stayed with Lexus (for now).

  9. I agree, you do have to adjust your diving style to get the best out of the RX400H. I've had mine from new since last September and currently have about 17000 miles on the clock, at the moment i can get around 30-32 on average out of evey tank of fuel. On the motorway, and I do a lot of the motorway, at a steady 70mph I have got upto just over 34mpg. Around town it does drop but once the car has warmed up I find I can get use out of the batteries if I am careful, stop start can be mostly Battery if in traffic. However, for all the reasons that other people have stated I still love the car and it still gives me a big smile everytime I get in and go somehwere.

    Enjoy the car/SUV/4x4 ish.

  10. I have now owned an 08 Lexus RX400h for 2 months and put about 1500miles on the clock. Although the overall driving experience is great, one thing I am not very happy about is the fuel consumption. I do not drive like a particular loon and I have had a mix of motorway and urban driving. Average consumption since I got the vehicle is 24mpg!! Also it seems that often the petrol motor kicks in at anythign over 10mph. On the vehicle I test drove it seemed to kick in around 30mph..could this be the reason? Should i be contacting the dealership to make demands or is this just the difference between marketing hype (31mpg+) and reality? If latter then I wish i had my BMW 535d back as I chose the lexus to improve my fuel efficiency..

Had mine for 10 weeks from new and now have 7300 miles on the clock, lots of motorway driving, initially clocked around 27 now getting around 31 if I keep my speed to around 70.

  11. I was wondering just how far the RX400H could be taken off road, I realise that it's not an off roader as such, but given its size etc I was wondering just how far it had been pushed. I have done some seaching on the tinternet but so far haven't come up with stories relating to this topic. So a challange to you all, how far have you pushed yours? it would be interesting to see how far it could go. (Sainsbury's or Tesco's car park is not really far enough).

this is what i am doing from time to time. but i would NOT conside this as offroad driving!

Thanks for the pictures and reply, looks a bit more rugged than where I go ;-)

  14. After a week of trying to decide between a RX400H and a Touareg 3.0V6 TDI, I decided to order a RX400.....Cadoxton Slate with Grey leather 400 SE with multimedia. Hope I made the right choice.....Touareg engine was really fun to drive, huge amounts of torque that I dont seem to remember from my Rx400 test drive....

Anyway, loking forward to joining all you Lexus owners!

If its anyhelp I got my new RX400H 2 weeks ago, I've already done 2000 miles and I am still smiling. Same colour as yours but SR spec with MM, its a great car to drive, cruises well on the motorway with the power if you need it, I'm currently getting 30.5mpg which is not bad and about 85% of the miles I have done so far are motorway miles.

Cant really find anything negative to say about it yet, the ML sound system is good but I think the version that was fitted in my previous IS220D just had the edge on sound quality.

Its a great looking car in Cadoxton Slate, plenty of room and very quiet. All in all I'm sure you will be happy.

  15. Welcome !

I'm sure you will enjoy your RX400h...its a lovely comfortable drive with more than enough performance and good fuel economy for a car of this size. Regarding fuel consumption you will soon notice that when driven on motorways at a constant speed the consumption is no different from a non-hybrid large petrol engined car. On A roads and in urban traffic however the regenerative braking and electric motors come into play and its much better then equivalent non-hybrids. My driving is around 25% motorways and the rest slow A and B roads and urban Birmingham and I am getting about 33mpg in the summer and slightly less in the winter due to the heaters and other electric things being on.

Its quite fun to try and drive very economically by maximising the regenerative braking, i.e. anticipating having to stop at lights etc well in advance and taking your foot off the accelerator in good time. Also fun to forget economy and floor it to experience the 269bhp although the torque-steer can be intrusive when accelerating flat out.

By the way, when your mates tell you it gets less MPG than a similar diesel, make sure you remind them of the performance and the fact that petrol contains about 18% less carbon (and hence chemical energy) per litre than diesel fuel….

My only tips would be to consider getting the VAIS ipod integration kit – I’ve just fitted one to my RX. Its cheaper than the Lexus option and is a great gadget. Also beware of pedestrians when runnning on bettery power only...they are often completly unaware of your presence.

Hope you enjoy your new car!

Thanks for your reply and feedback....after 2 days of ownership I am still smiling. :)

  16. Hello there,

I have just taken delivery of my new RX400H and first impressions - very, very nice! :D I have had a Lexus 220D for the past 2 years and have been very impressed with the Lexus brand so decided to take the plunge and upgrade. Has anybody got any tips/thoughts on how to get the best out of the car? I am a high mileage driver and whilst I didnt buy the car for fuel economy I would like to get as many mpg as possible - dont want to become to friendly with the local petrol station attendant!

Any hints/tips would be welcome - thanks.

  17. My IS 220 d new in mid Nov 2007 has now done 6500 miles - average consumption is 38 mpg. When I bought the car consumption was important as I drive 170 miles per day commuting to work the sales guy at Lexus said that I should match my old Audi A6 at 49.5 mpg (no exajeration). The Lexus is not a patch on it and I'm fuming. I've tried all sorts of driving styles, yes even the slippers but don't get any improvement. The journey I do is 80% motorway and I cruise between 65 and 70.

I am seriously considering getting rid of it and going back to an Audi - much better drive as well. Why did I change from Audi?

Can somebody enlighten me on the subject of the mods and fifth injector replacement.

Does anybody know if Lexus read what is on this site and how do they score so well in the JD Power surveys.

    Good luck to everyone.

If yours is a new IS220d then it will be running the latest and patches and hardware, I'm sure. Only your dealer can cpnfirm it.

Never believe a salesman - Lexus or not. They are their to fleece you and hit their targets :whistling: else you wouldn't have to haggle. It's as simple as that. I've learnt that you must insist on a 3 day test drive before parting with cash so that you know exactly what you are buying. mIf they say it'll perform X times better with Y miles on it, then insist on driving one with Y on it. That's my learning!

I'm sure LGB are more than aware of the posts on here :winky: as I'm sure many of the owners on this foum also work for Lexus, dealers etc
