  1. Possibly my final post on here. After my Ct was stolen last month Wife has bought herself a '70 Hybrid, Yaris. She seems happy with it.
  2. Getting back on topic, sort of. Spoke with Insurers again today. Found out having a cherished plate is an "uninsured risk" therefore not covered by my policy. To be fair I do have a voucher to replace the grandkids car seat when I get another car. I also found out that this is where my (late) car will be sold. https://www.copart.co.uk/vehicleFinderSearch?displayStr=[0 TO 9999999],[2018 TO 2022],Lexus&from=%2FvehicleFinder&searchCriteria={"query":["*"],"filter":{"VEHT":["vehicle_type_code:VEHTYPE_V"],"ODM":["%23OdometerReading:[0 TO 9999999]"],"YEAR":["%23LotYear:[2018 TO 2022]"],"MAKE":["lot_make_desc:\"LEXUS\""]},"searchName":"","watchListOnly":false,"freeFormSearch":false} I went down a right rabbit hole looking to see what else there was. My (late) car isn't listed yet. Be interesting to see what it goes for.
  3. When I was a kid my mums boyfriend had a green 911, left hand drive. He then converted it to right hand drive, and had it repainted black. He had a a fully reconditioned 911 engine in the garage that I begged to let me put in my '69 Beetle. He said it would snap it in two. When I was about 17/18 I was late to meet my girlfriend, so he took me in a pearl white 928 S to pick her up. All her friends were there. They were quite impressed. My sister now has a Boxster Speedster the limited edition ones, a Cayene Hybrid, and her hubby has a '74 911, 996 Turbo, GT3 RS. I can't keep up but I want to own a Porsche at some point. Sorry this has really gone off topic!
  4. If I am honest I was banking using the residual payout money to buy a Porsche when I can drive again. I've always wanted one common sense always said "No" in the past. Wife wants something "practical"
  5. Yes I have been paid out. I cannot legally drive for medical reasons at the moment though. I was looking at a UX. Wife needs a car to get to work once a week and do shopping and collect daughter from Uni. She really liked the CT, and the gadgets but missed full leather and full electric seats. Also a UX is a little larger for collecting daughter & all her stuff from Uni. It was pleasing and annoying at the same time to see my car. At least it hadn't been burnt out of trashed. A '19 Plate with less than 16.5k mile full Lexus Service History. Someone will get a bargain.
  6. Sorry If I am going on about this. I went to look at a replacement Lexus with my Dad today. Less than an hour after we left I had a call from the dealership. Somebody had rung them about my car as it had been abandoned outside their house less than a mile away from where I live for 3 weeks, when it was taken. Because it still had the cherished plate on it and is quite distinctive they rang the dealership who then rang me. I went to the location, it was 100% my car. It was locked but Police managed to open it. They said the key(s) must be in close proximity to the car. We searched bushes/grass verges but couldn't find the keys. Police let me get my Kate Bush CD's out and some sunglasses and an old iPod. Car is now waiting o be towed away by the Police and handed over to the Insurance Co who are now the legal owners of the car. RIP CT, someone is going to get a bargain at a used car auction.
  7. Thanks I cannot drive for medical reasons but Wife needs a car and we need to get Youngest stuff from Uni every 8 weeks. The CT barely fitted everything in, even with Youngest getting train home! An X5 would be too large for Wife. She was ok with the old RX and Infiniti EX. But the Lexus now are so large.
  8. Even though I cannot drive anymore due to medical reasons. After my CT got stolen a few weeks ago I am looking for a replacement that is slightly larger. UX or NX? It is so Wife can ferry grand kids about and collect Youngest and her stuff from Uni. Other cars on my list currently are MG(!) or a Cupra. Views on the UX or NX welcome.
  9. Sorry if I am boring people on this topic. I actually got my insurance settlement, they settled the finance and I got the residual amount. It was within 3 weeks, which surprised/impressed me. I also now have a V5 for the Car with the original plate, so I can put my cherished plate on retention. I have also cancelled all road tax payments so hopefully this will make it the car unsaleable to any one else. It should red flag on any ANPR for false plates, no tax, no insurance. Even a fake V5 will not have the right VIN number? The scrotes who took it have caused no end of stress. I think having a cherished plate has helped because it will stand out like a sore thumb. I hope they catch the scrotes, but I know I will never see the car again. Disc 1 from "Before the Dawn" was in the player or glove box. Which has some of my favourite Kate Bush songs. Also "Back in Black - AC/DC". I am still trying to decide on a replacement. I can no longer for medical reasons drive but Wife loved the car and wants an automatic, hybrid. She only does around 30 miles a week but likes all the toys from the Lexus and Infiniti's that we have had. Recommendations appreciated.
  10. I must admit how quickly they have dealt with it impressed me. The only things they haven't agreed to pay is for a courtesy car (it wasn't included in my policy), and cost of retaining my cherished plate that was on it.
  11. It's the first time they have actually got the car. The other incidents were over a period of around 15 years. The new car will be up to the wife, she is paying for it. I can't drive. So I am going to bank the money for when I can drive again and maybe buy myself a silly middle aged crisis car.
  12. It was 3 years old but had only done 16k miles. So no depreciation in 3years I think is pretty good.
  13. House insurance covered cost of new locks on the house, and the relatively small amount of cash that was taken. They left my watch (how rude!), cash cards laptops etc. I currently cannot drive for the foreseeable future, due to epilepsy. Whilst wife really liked the car she is adamant she doesn't want another Lexus. Back when I had my first IS200, thieves tried to drill the locks off it. Then I disturbed thieves trying to break in forcing the window, with a spade. The second IS200, they tried to use hook and cane to get in the house, but again I disturbed them. The RX300 didn't attract the same attention, nor did successive Infiniti's. The Mini Cooper we had also got targeted, since sold that. She is worried we will be targeted again if we get another Lexus. I was considering a relatively cheap high mileage Range Rover as an interim for 12 months but she says it is too large. So I think it will be a cheap run around until I can drive again.
  14. After car was stolen last week, after the house was broken into and both keys, from different rooms were taken I now have a settlement figure from insurance co. They have offered my what I paid for it 3 years ago. I think that is pretty good going, no depreciation in 3 years.
  15. God dealing with the aftermath of the car theft is a pain in the ar$e. I had a cherished plate on in that I have had for almost 13 years. I want to keep it. The paperwork I have to do for the DVLA is painful to put the plate on retention. Also cancelling the tax is a pain. I am wanting to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to drive it without it being picked up on ANPR, because it will probably by now have a different plate on it, not the original one and show as untaxed.
  16. They took some cash from wallet & purse.
  17. House was broken into last night. They stole both keys for my car and took the car. It is a 2019 CT200h. Metallic black with a number plate S70 DPM.
  18. After having my first fit in Jan 2021, I couldn't drive for 6 months. I then had another in April 2022. Told I cannot drive for 12 months. I was approaching that 12 month deadline, then I have had 4 fits in 2 weeks. I have been told by consultant neurologist I cannot drive for at least another year, if ever again. Whilst Wife enjoys the car, it is with a heavy heart that I think I am going to sell the car. Seems little point in keeping up the finance payments, insurance, tax etc if I cannot drive.
  19. Took it to local Timpsons they said they didn't want to touch it in case they broke the housing. Need time to take it to main dealer. A bit annoying they only serviced the car a year a few months ago.
  20. Thanks all. I can get a battery replaced. It was just that Wife is using car and I didn't want the "Key not detected" to turn off the car on her way home.
  21. Is this essential, will it stop the car if the key battery fails?
  22. Further update. After spending what felt like hours on the phone. I CAN keep existing finance in my name, and remain the registered keeper. My Insurers WILL insure the car in my name, even though I cannot currently drive for medical reasons, and Wife can remain as a named driver so she can drive it. So I think all is sorted now. Next step is appealing the decision to not allow me to drive. That will be interesting.
  23. I will still be paying just car will no longer be registered in my name. It means Wife can still drive the car (and me)
  24. Further update. Lexus Finance have transferred V5 to Wife (even though I keep paying for the car) She can then get her own insurance and pay the tax.
  25. They have said as Wife is not registered keeper they will not issue issuance. Also the finance agreement is in my name. Currently on hold to Lexus.....................
