  1. I have hairline cracks on the side bolster, car only 6 months old 500miles. Take it back to your dealer, they will take photograph and send it Lexus. It costs £1300 so your dealer will need authorisation before going ahead. Also as the new seat cover comes the factory it will take a few weeks. I am currently waiting so will let you know on any updates.
  2. Could be worse... I am waiting on Lexus to authorise a new leather cover for the driver's seat.... Dealer can't go ahead without authorisation as it is £1300 for one seat....
  3. I have Fleet prices for Vauxhall and some of the discounts are scary.... Can get 20% of VXR range or top of the range Vectra for under £10k... If you think those are good discounts you should see what the discounts on accesories!!!
  4. Puresilk... We had one before... had to change to a more practical car due to Junior arriving in May.... Had a 54 plate. Faults I had were Clutch Master Cylinder which was just one of those things... Common problem is the dash pod, look out for faulty fuel or temp gauge as an indication, if this needs replaced you are looking at £500+ for POD you also need to get all keys re programed as the alarm system is part of this. Temp sensors in the engine bay are also well known for playing up. If its a Quattro look out for problems around rear axle especially if been thrashed.. Check out the TT forum they will give plenty of advice, some good guys on there.. We are in similar situation and tempted to pick up another one, although trying to put a baby in a car seat in the back of a TT could well become an Olympic sport :) Hope this helps
  5. With regard to Roonaldo's comment's I did the same. Put some diesel in drove to work which was about 15miles of country A roads (A71) undulating, twisty road with some fast straights, then had about 6 miles of stop/start traffic as I came into work. Left work and took car back to dealership all motorway held it between 70-80 but light on throttle, came into Glasgow and had about 20mins of stop/start rush hour traffic. On tank Av managed to get 44mpg. These figures are acheivable in the Lexus but you have to work to acheive them which is not ideal, last year I had an A6 for a week and on a similar run mix of A roads & Motorways, got 46mpg without even trying.
  6. Nothing received here either, has happened to me once though, wife tooks mats out to clean them and never secured them through the eyelets, got to top of the street and pedal jammed in Mat... Of course it was my fault due to my size 10's :) These were purchased when car was new last August and what makes it worse the car was in for a week and no mention of the mats when I picked the car up..... Just wait till I get this letter..
  7. Well after a week the car has been returned.... Boot seems to have been sorted but how long before paint starts chipping again remains to be seen.. Now will tell you about the fun stuff... Was promised 3 alloys would be changed due to pitting, blistering problems... Changed the front 2 and left the rear one... When asked why they hadn't changed the rear one I was told wasn't needing reaplaced, took the service guy outside and asked him explain the corrosion next to the valve.... "Don't know how that was missed, it was our best mechanic on your car" "really" was my reply "would hate to see your worst... " Also can you tell me where the Chrome valve sleeves & caps have gone to? Believe it or not I was told these are only avaialbe from the factory, "so you are telling me this is a factory part and but a lexus garage can't supply it", reply was "yes sir quite embarresing but your correct" Now left with cheap looking black valves on the front and chrome ones on the back with no resolution in sight... The EGR valve fault reported by another Lexus garage could not be traced, funnily enough I am not the first to come in say there is a fault with the EGR valve as reported by this other dealer. They did agree that the leather on the seat had cracked. but as it is £1300 for a new cover and after having the car for a week they are still waiting on authorisation from Lexus, oh and to top it all the seat cover has to come from Japan. So who knows when I will see that... Quality service from Lexus not!!!!
  8. In this weeks Fleet news it was stated that Audi expect the 2.0 litre diesel to account for 70% of the sales on the new A4. A 2.0TDi SE (entry level) is costing £24K. If your looking for economy then go with the A4, if you want comfort, higher spec and better looking car stay with Lexus. Choice is yours
  9. There is a thread in the Lexus General Discussions Section about the diesel being discontinued....
  10. Sorry to hear your bad news... I run a fleet dept which includes 180 LGV's, we do a full driver training programme in a bid to prevent such accidents.... If the driver had any sense he would have stradled the lanes to prevent a car coming up the inside... Also if he is turning left he should have checked both the main and wide angled mirror, that is what there for. We usually emphasise this as a safety point especially in towns as cyclist's/motorbikes are bad for coming up the inside and they receive a hell of a lot more damage than a car as you can imagine. All the insurance companies will do is battle it out and end up settling on a 50/50 even although it was really the truck drivers fault...
  11. Ok, just gave the car a good clean today and gave the boot a thorough inspection, light scrathing on the bumper where the boot meets it, as well as clear chipping on the boot... Luckily enough someone else has had a similar problem and Lexus acknowledged it... so off to the dealer and armed with documentation and see what they say.... On another note bubbles appearing on three out of the four alloys... Can See another warranty claim coming.... not bad for only 4000 miles
  12. I wrote to Lexus at Customer Service LEXUS GB Ltd Great Burgh Butgh Heath Epsom Surrey KT18 5XS Tried contacting them via the web site (ask a question) but got no reply. Received a reply from a Samantha Betts. Hope you have more luck than me
  13. Celtic, C'Mon The Hoops Believe that is us well in the lead for Scottish teams
  14. Where you say paint chips on the boot, do you mean where the boot meets the bumper because if so there is no fix for this yet ( say Lexus Irl) as i've had this problem twice ( different thread) and no joy yet. Thanks Barry, Thats exactly where the chips have appeared, At least someone else has had the problem... Just need to appologise to the wife as I was blaming her... Did they offer a respray of the damaged area? PM me so we dont end up hijackin Jamboo's thread.... Hopefully Lexus will take note of what their owners say Good & Bad.. Jamboo send them results after a few months...
  15. 5 Months in 4000 miles Mirror Replaced. Awaiting EGR valve gasket to be replaced. Loud crack like stone hitting windscreen coming from dash when it heats up.... just going to leave it as I expect it would lead to more rattles if Lexus tried to fix it.... Paint Chips on Boot (will get garage to check it out when in for EGR valve) Fuel Consumption not as expected Do like the style, comfort, sound system.... I would buy another but to be honest it would be a Petrol. Although the new A4 might be tempting
  16. Hi All, found something that I have never seen mentioned on here before. Paint is chipping on the bottom lip of the boot, best way to describe it is where the boot lip closes right above the rear bumper. Best way to describe it is like stone chips you would expect to see on the bonnet, paint has chipped through to the primer (White Spots Showing) have asked the wife to show me how she closes the boot to eliminate scratches from rings etc and can't see how she could have caused it, also it across most of lip not one specific area. Boot has never been opened where it could hit something and have checked to bumper for signs of it hitting off there, no marks to be seen. I know there have been comments on here before about the softness of the paint on the lexus but this is probably the last place i would expect to see it chip. Car is only 5 months old with 4000 mile on clock, can someone advise if this comes under the paint warranty. Thanks
  17. With regard to the central locking, I received a letter from Lexus and they have stated that due to additional wiring & software it cannot be done... :(
  18. Am I talking Rollex or is the engine all Aluminium? If so, does that make a difference, as Aluminium has to run cooler???? Just looking to find an excuse to defend the marque... I too haven't actually had a diesel where I have noticed this, but have done on the Lex.... I am trying my best to defend lexus as well, especially against colleagues who have A4's & BM's.... There is a noticible difference in the time it takes the Lexus to reach operating temp against others... at least the heated seats help :)
  19. If this is true then what will it do to the resale value of the IS diesel? If lexus don't have faith in it how do they expect people to buy them 2nd hand....Not a good sign, think the marketing people will have their work cut out if this does go ahead.... What I don't understand is that Toyota don't seem to have as many problems with the same engine in the Avensis... so why do Lexus...?
  20. It is something that is unique to the 220D, I have a Nissan, also with 2.2 diesel no matter what the temp never idles above 800 rpm. Went from Hamilton to Glasgow (14 miles) and the the engine was still running at 1200 rpm when I hit the city centre, switch off the heating and it droped to 800, switch it on and it goes back to 1200... and you wonder why the fuel consumption is poor for a diesel.... Well IMHO here is one reason.... Oh and by the way no matter how hard the nissan is driven never goes below 42mpg and it heats up a lot quicker than the Lexus
  21. Blame it on the Scottish Climate, got the same problem.... Out of curiosity do you the problem of the engine idle speed going up to 1200 in standing traffic...?
  22. Bob [/quotHow does the auto locking feature work? My car was delivered new in sept and doesnt appear to have this feature, or maybe it does? No mention of it in manuel as far as I can see. DeLexus, forget it, I got mine in August, Car was sent to Lexus Edinburgh for the mirror change and asked them to activate the auto locking. At first when booking the car in they thought it could be done, but when I collected the car was told it could not be done. I thought it would just be a software upgrade similar to the seatbelt warning, this kicks in when you hit 15mph and thought they could programme it to lock the doors as the car can already recognise when you reach this speed. It is probably a simple rescript of the software but for whatever reason Lexus don't want to do it..
  23. Going by the above quote then, would this mean that an induction kit could be the answer, as this will increase the amount of clean air entering the engine.... Not sure how this may effect the warranty, but could be a solution once out of warranty...
  24. I see that you hav had your mirror sorted out so that it dont shake. Can you please tell me where you had that work done becuase my car has been into lexus 4 times to try and sort it out and it still has a mind of its own. They told me that my music had too much base. Also do you hav the upgraded sound system??? I drive in town all the time and have never got more than 30mpg in my IS220d sport. My car is 6 months old and has done 4500miles Pram take it back to them and don't be fobbed off, this is a well known fault and there has been a fix available for about the last 4-6 weeks. Mirror was replaced by Lexus dealer in Edinburgh, they didn't stock the part but ordered it from the Lexus holding stock. Car is SE with standard sound system 4months old with 3500miles on it. Print this off, take it into your local dealer and if they have any issues ask them to call Lexus Edinburgh who can point them in the right direction.
  25. switching off AC doesn't help, you have to switch off the fan. Matus Is spot on, tried it today, revs jumped up to 1200rpm whilst sitting at traffic lights(air con was off), switched off the fan and straight away revs fell back to 800rpm.. As mentioned before Lexus are aware of this but don't know how to solve the problem
