Heating Problems
Lex Bhoy replied to feckoffcup's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Did you have any joy with this??? My 220d developed the same problem... you can adjust the speed of fan, temp and what vents are used but no air comes out.. Is this a new fault developing, for info mine is an 07 SE no MM with 12K on clock.... Off to the dealer's again, hopefully get a decent courtesy car.. -
Led Sidelights
Lex Bhoy replied to gib's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Believe Ultra leds is the No1 place to get them, on other forums seem to get good reports... Take it you had no issues fitting these? Was going to fit them on my astra but unless fitted with resistors they can cause havoc with the Canbus and end up shutting the side lights down. -
Don't want to add fuel to the fire, the account manager of our leasing company had been offered some IS250 auto's no mm at 30% discount... In other words Lexus will pay for the depreciation, Also what I don't understand is that Toyota came in 3rd and Lexus 8th when in reality we are talking about the same engine / company

From an article in a Fleet News Supplement Lexus gained the heady heights of 8th place in a relaibilty poll. The poll was taken from multi marque leasing companies. Results were. 1. BMW 2. Honda 3. Toyota 4. Ford 5. Volkswagen 6. Mercedes Benz 7. Audi 8. Lexus 9. Mazda 10. Vauxhall As this is down to reliability only not how the garages perform I would give it more credence than a JD Power survey.. Obviously problems with the diesel have brought Lexus down..

Lexus Tuning Box Found this link on the Net, spoke to a guy who does vauxhall boxes and he said that d4d engine is a hard one to crack but this company claim to have done it... -
220d Recall
Lex Bhoy replied to Dixgas's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Got my letter in and couldn't have been timed better as the car was due it's first service.... Car was collected & returned from my house and had the 5th injector recall done.... came back all cleaned inside & out along with a bottle of Champagne + Full tank of diesel.... To top it all off due the problems I have had in the past they waved the cost of the service.... Dealer has just gone up in my estimation's :) At last the caring side of Lexus has been shown... For info car was 07 SE with 10K on clock -
Well mine has done as of today 10,118 miles is 11 months old, has averaged according to the total mpg 35.9 mpg & just received a recorded letter inviting me contact the dealer to have the 5th injector changed.. Not what I call the best economy, but considering most of the miles are covered by my wife in stop / start traffic is it that bad? I think it's bad but others may say it is acceptable.. given the driving conditions.. And as of Wednesday next week will be a member of 5th injector changed club... Woohoo :)

Why not change to another astra diesel and get a tunning box.... Have both the astra 150 and Lexus diesel.... Lexus good cruising car, Astra good for a blast, even then still get better MPG than the Lex... If you like toys and a cracking looking car then go for the Lexus, however coming out of the VXR you will miss the performance..

Never has a truer statement been made.... When will Lexus HQ actually sit up and take notice of what is being said and damaging their reputation... As had been said before l am more than happy to receive a PM from Lexus and tell them how it is, I am sure there are others on here who would be more than happy to forward on their own experiences, as usual Lexus bury their heads in the sand and hope he problems go away.. Go on Lexus prove us all wrong and ask us what is wrong with your set up... Cars, Dealers etc, or are you going to continue being Emu's????? You can no longer rely on the JD Power survey from years ago as a selling point, get your act together before it gets worse!!!!

Mine has been in twice for re-spray and will no doubt be going in again.... Chips the lip of the boot as well as scratching the bumper.... Still seeking "The Pursuit of Perfection"... Don't you just love Lexus... -
Is220d Recall

I also got a RX400 as a courtesy car from Lexus Edinburgh due to warranty work... Only problem was when I took it back they wanted £15 admin charge for putting me on their insurance... I have since had 2 loan vehicles from lexus Glasgow no charge on them and mine was returned with a full tank of diesel, when I wrote to Lexus to complain about issues with the car got the usual fob off letter and was told it is up to individual garages whether they charge for cars or not... Shame for lexus as I run a fleet department that includes 50 cars which are either A4's or BMW 3 Series, many managers have asked me my opinion on the Lexus as a choice against audi/bmw, told them as they pay for their own fuel avoid the lexus unless they want a car with more toys, have shown the list of faults I have experienced and the response from Lexus. By doing this I know for certain 3 guys who were ready to place orders for a 220D and changed to audi. Both Lexus and the dealerships need to take note that people do pass on their experiences to other people.. -
If the car has the soft pockets at the back it will have the auto locking, I missed out on this by 2 months and asked for a retro fit but was told it is more than a software change so couldn't be done. If it does have the soft seat backs then it will be latest model, although that will change again in a few months

My other car is an Astra Sri 150 and there are plenty of guys running around with these, some guys have declared it as a fuel saving device and gotten away with it... after it does save fuel but also put the bhp up a few notches It is a box that connects to the diesel pressure sensor and it alters the voltage, this results in the diesel being injected at a higher pressure whcih results in a better combustion whilst being more efficient... I think... Can be removed easily enough for visits to dealer.... Just got the Astra and will be investing in one next month Fitting Instructions

Rear Seat Belts
Lex Bhoy replied to Lex Bhoy's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Thanks Tiger, Could be a problem then as the child seat is using just about the full length of the belt... -
Anyone had problems with the rear seat belts jamming? When putting rear facing baby seat in I get so far then the seat belt locks and doesn't let anymore belt out, the only way to sort the problem is to let the belt return all the way back then start all over again. Usually happens half way through puting the seat in, its a right pain in the :tsktsk: as by this time I have looped it through the various holders on the baby seat I then need to unhook them all to allow the belt to return to home position.

Did have the traditional shaky mirror on my 220 which got changed by Lexus Edinburgh no problem, it is now totally shake free no matter how loud you play the music.. Had a 250 SE a few weeks back and noticed that it suffered from Vibrating mirror when music was played loud... So now we have a plus point of the Diesel over Petrol.... :) Don't all rush at once to the showroom lol

Chrome Dust Caps
Lex Bhoy replied to find54's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Got some from ebay that had the lexus logo, you tighten them up with an allan key... Wouldn't rcomend them though as the screw to tighten them up rusts and left a rust mark on the alloy... As for the Alloys had all 4 replaced due to bubbling after 6000 miles & 8 months, garage told me it was down to the type of salt we use on the roads in Scotland, "well if that's the case can you order me another set of alloys for next winter, as no doubt we will be using the same salt again"
