  1. Hi guys,

    I having a very annoying problem with my car. As the subject suggests above, I’m having a serious power lose issue every time I rest the ECU or when I tune the car up.

    Example:

    5 days after a full tune up … the car (IS 300) will be working fine (accelerating with relative easy), however within 3 -4 days time … my car begins to strain ( is accelerates like a truck).

    Possible issues:

    My engineer check light is not on, however if I perform a diagnostic test, the computer said I need to replace both O2 Sensors.

    Help need:

    Guys this issue has been going on for a year .. I’ve reach my limit .. I may sell my baby if this issue continues.

  2. I lost bout 50% of the power when i fitted mine, <_<

    i ve just fitted the apexi power intake and just like what happened to you maltezza my car has lost power, its really slow going up through the revs , i disconnected the Battery for 10 mins and and the connected it then started it up for 5 mins without touching the throttle then turned it off and fired her up again and took it for a test drive and its still the same , have u got yours sorted yet, i see from your thread about your car that they said it might be your carbon pipe but i have got the correct pipe and it still does it . dont know what to do now, let me know what you have done :)

    just been back out to the car and disconnected the Battery for an hour, connected it back up and took it out for a drive, at first it was pretty sluggish , but the more i drove it the better it got, and after an hour of driving the ecu has learned the new filter airflow, its still not perfect but its pretty close so i came home and parked up for an hour went back out for a drive and from cold it drives perfect really responsive but as the temp went to normal it loses a tiny amount of response which im thinking is the heat in the engine bay so im gona look to get a box to fit in there, so to sum up i fitted it and it drove like a pile of ****, left the Battery disconnected for an hour to reset the ecu then drove around for an hour and it fixed itself :)

    So what your're telling me is .. the apexi power intake really works ??

    Cuz im a bit confuse now … 1st mAltezza said its crap .. but now your’re say-n it works.

    One other question … does it improve your torque , and by how much??

    Naw... I was thinking about something along the lines of a Apexi Power Intake Air Filter System ( complete kit->> http://www.racinglab.com/appowinairfi.html).

    Didn't notice any difference with that fitted to my Altezza apart from a lot more noise when you put the foot down :whistling: , gets a bit annoying after a few weeks. You might gain 2-3 bhp max

  4. I take it that it's definately a tezza.

    Has it got Toyota Altezza on the back and a lexus logo in the middle?

    It has the Lexus Logo in the middle... and its has the 1998 4 Cyl engineer(which comes wit the Rs200).

    Get rid of those lexus logo's dude!! Or something like mine?

    Lovely Altezza you have there. That Legana front bumper looks spot on too! Have you added Lexus badges yourself, as I didn't think the Altezza came with Lexus badges?

    Cracking colour and the best by far may I add ;)

    Any more pictures? It's a smart vehicle indeedy...

  6. Just thought i'd mention that i've just spotted an IS about 8 mins into the film, where the fella runs into a building and closes a shutter, the view changes from inside that building and there is an IS parked across the road, and if i'm not mistaken, its a green one with cream interior :D

    For about a week now I've been trying out the M mode (Tipronic) on my RS200. At 1st I didn't like it (found it a bit confusing), but now I love it.

    Reason:

    1. Easy to gears down when going around corners.

    2. It give u a feeling of more control over your car.

    3. And it just plain old fun to use :P.

    What are your feeling when it comes to Tipronic mode? Love it or hate it?

  8. On the topic of Tipronic. Any of you guys have any tips on using it(Tiptronic)? I got my car(RS200) about a month now .. and I'm try-n to get use to the tip....

    P.s. I don't wanna mash up the engine or anything.

    For my Is300 semi-auto I find it best using M mode on windy roads to preselect gears in advance of corners (with either PWR mode on or off). For straighter roads it's easier using wither M mode with PWR off or just leave it in D and press PWR if you need a bit of kick when overtaking. There's that many electronic gizmos on the Lexus that it is pretty much impossible to over-rev it or change down when your not meant to be able to.

  9. Or you could always go to the gym and work on your arm muscles lol! Apparently it's possible to alter the hydraulics and make power steering lighter/heavier if you want. I wouldn't do it but can anyone confirm whether this is possible just for curiosities sake?

  10. Would getting an ECU chip installed make a big diff.. ?

    Thats what im planning on doing, some people say it will add 30-40bhp, others say it will be minimal gains. Dont think anyone on here has done it to a normally aspirated Altezza yet. Im just trying to find somewhere thats reliable place to tune it in, as i will try and get mine mapped to the 104Ron biofuel that im using

    When u get the chip, let me know what diff. it makes .... I may wanna do that also.
