  1. OMG.......Ordered my new tyres from Camskill today - just received the email confirming they have shipped and who should the carrier be.....CityLink. Luckily my wife is a teacher and off for another 5 weeks - so Ive at least got a fighting chance of getting them ;o)) Maybe (hopefully) it will be their opportunity to increase my confidence in them..... I suppose with 4 tyres on his van - the driver is going to be quite eager to get rid - I just hope the place where he chooses to do that is my house.....
  2. I bought mine from halfords and they havent got halfords or a postcode on them - just plain. I thought these regs (postcoe / dealer) only applied to new cars fom dealers/garages as of a paticular date Personally wouldnt buy from halfords anyway - twice the price as any motor factors place - I was jut in a rush and needed some quick....
  3. Most other cars on the road arnt capable of 155mph, 6 second 0-60, have 280bhp, or weigh over 2000 kg Having been in a situation where I needed to rely on the VSC and ABS (not because was driving on the limit) I agree with maneesh.... £2500 doesnt get you much of a funeral these days.
  4. So no signature required on delivery?
  5. £329 fully comp - £150 compulsary excess - zero voluntary - GS430, 13K private + 3K business 5 years NCB - total loss claim 2 years ago - my fault - I'm 35. Wife also as named driver - 35 Staffordshire E-sure Hope I dont have to claim on my car insurance but having previously claimed via e-sure on my house policy - no problem at all - it was accidental damage (I drilled through a water pipe buried in a wall in my house) - rang them (at ~9pm at night) and within seconds someone answered politely and just said "yes thats fine-call out a plumber and send us the bill" all sorted and very good service.
  6. suspect there is a number missing before the word hundred ;-) if not then please can you tell us all the name of the company as I'm sure you've found them some business...
  7. Tried cleaning to MAF sensor?
  8. Never used but just did a quick search in google. Linky 1500 USD = ~ 800 quid So just add shipping and import tax and you looking at well under half the price than the stealer and I'm sure there are plenty of others. As above though - make sure its the correct part before ordering anything and it will work in UK model
  9. all dealers are at it....had 2 letters this month from a toyota dealer offering me cars at the same price they paid for them - limited one time offer that happened to be repeated 2 weeks later....just like DFS ;o)
  10. using that logic isn't the LS the car to have? Surprised at the mpgs reported so far- no different to my 430. Back on topic- previous owner of my car went to an IS250 - within a couple of weeks he was back at the dealer swapping it for a gs450h which he now seems very happy with. Seems you are getting similar mpg to a 430 but better performance. Only thing that would put me off is the hybrid technology-
  11. surely the government would not raise tax on LPG if it caught on??? Afterall the only reason they tax us so heavily on petrol and diesel is because they care for the environment so much..... ;-)
  12. citylink do have one of the worst reputations and are currently going through a lot of turmoil no doubt due to their recent acquisition of target. I understand that due to the mess they got themselves in they have now brought back the CEO of target to sort it out. Understand your frustration-especially when you stay in to wait for delivery- and that customer service is terrible. Every company makes mistakes or has the odd bad employee- but I think the measure of a good company is how they deal with an issue when something goes wrong. In this case they proved why I wouldn't use them.
  13. Hi.thanks..says its a natural gas highflow....gc numbers bf model 41 311 39. Of model 41 311 38 Had bad experience with potterton boilers in my last house - in fact the whole estate did- every year about nov time would go into lockout mode- along with allthe others- you could tell it was November by looking out the window and seeing all the British gas vans! So would never go there again. Everyone else I speak to recommends the Worcester or valiant boilers too. Assuming I go for a new Worcester/valiant what would you be looking at for you to replace Inc new boiler, install and travel to st19 area?
  14. Its a Worcester Heatslave - ~1989 - In an airing cupboard - vents on door and vents in ceiling through to loft CO detector next to the boiler, in my kids bedrooms and in the lounge. Youve got me a little concerned now - Are you saying that next year when the guy comes to do my service the likelyhood is that he will just disconnect it? Engineer never mentioned anything about extra vents - where do these need to go? Also - when I enquired about cost of new boiler - they all saying similar - usually starting with "well, you get what you pay for......." and usually end up recommending a Worcester Bosch - stating looking at around 2.5K installed.....Admittedly I havent looked into it other than that - but if you are saying you can pick a decent one up for ~500 then thats a different matter and I'd rather get one done now before the regs change next year (if I understood you correctly) when everyone in my predicament will need new boilers at short notice - so end up paying a premium and thats if I can find an engineer with the time to do it.... I'm assuming the 500 doesnt include installation - what sort of figure you looking at for install charge - plus any recommendations for a particular boiler? Thanks
  15. If you have a non condensing boiler they are now giving out a free label that they attach to your boiler stating its unsafe to use. Apparently regs have changed so they can scare you into having a new boiler at 2.5k. But it will decrease my bills by 30%....on my maths that means 18 years payback...longer if include the interest I would have earnt on the original capital outlay. Given that the new boiler has an est lifetime of 15 years why would I do it? I could feel good that I had reduced my carbon footprint but I drive a 4.3 l.V8 !! It was safe last year- why isn't it safe now

  17. Thanks everyone....seems there are good things to be said about all 3 - may just see which ones out of the 3 I can get the best deal on....
  18. Time has come to change my tyres and just dont know which ones to go for......all 4 to change so dont want to be spending more than £100 / each. Currently running Yokohama Decibels - Which are re-inforced and I'm not sure is doing much for the handling.... This seems to put me in Falken FK452, Toyo Proxes T1-R or Goodyear Eagle F1 territory. Any views on the above or other suggestions?
  19. Bought mine off ebay - unmarked but it uses the ELM327 chipset - which I think they all do to be honest - although I'm no pro ;o) Came with a load of software on a CD too - all of it was freely available off the internet but saved me the time searching so was quite handy. Cant remember the store I bought it from - but think it was located in Belfast..... But as long as have the ELM327 chipset in then should work fine - although I do have a niggling thought in the back of my mind that people have had issues using readers on Mk2 GS300's - or was that the MkI's....you might want to do a search on here because that is where I would have seen it if I had read it. Hopefully you've not got any probs and thats why you want one? or you just getting one incase? Mark
  20. Thanks Gents....Linky from Tigerfish and attached files really useful Colin.....appreciated. Rgds Mark
  21. Whilst you should be ok on the import duty - You may want to check if you are also elligible for VAT Relief - otherwise you could be stung for VAT - which at 17.5% is somewhat larger than the 10% duty rate - and is charged on the value of your car + shipping charges Will it be a temporary import or are you moving over here for good? Also - you will not be able to sell the car for 12 months - otherwise I believe Duty then becomes payable.
  22. My Engine Mgmt light has started to come on after I floor the GS (Full Throttle) Checked with a reader and its P1651 After about 3 or 4 more starts and driving without full throttle - the light goes back out again - which I think means it hasnt detected the fault again for a few starts/drives. However, when ever I floor it again - light returns and same code. So appears the only time there is a problem is when I give it full throttle. 1651 appears to be a Lexus Manufacturer code rather than a standard - and I cant find details of the Lexus meaning anywhere. Anyone know what it means on a Lex? Thanks
  23. Went to get in my car this morning - Pressed the remote - nothing happened. Pressed it again and nothing happened. Thought strange - So I tried using my key direct in the lock - car opened but alarm went off. I ran back into my house to fetch my other key to turn off the alarm - that one didnt work either. However, as I get to my car - the neighbour is also having exactly the same problems with his car (a Chrysler Voyager) I tried starting my car with the alarm sounding and it started fine and let me drive it - still with the alarm sounding. He then tried the same - and his car exhibited the same. He drove his car up the road about 300 yds - still remote wouldnt work - I drove mine a little further - now mine worked. Drove back home - Mine didnt work again. He drove his a little further and now his worked - but as soon as he got closer again - stopped working. At that point his wife returned home - she had the same problem with her car - a Rover. Started thinking this isnt car related and tried some other wireless remotes - My neighbour tried his remote garage door and wireless doorbell - neither worked. I have some plug sockets that you can turn on / off using a wireless remote - they didnt work either. Cant be the cars - As they all work ok when away from the house - Both myself and my neighbour flicked the master fusebox off in our house - incase it was something we had in our house - still car remotes wouldnt work. I'm assuming this is some interference from some new source that is causing the problem - but how do we work out where the problem is? Does anyone know who we could contact?
  24. sounds positive due to the fact it needs signing off by a manager... Good luck
