  1. I think I will bump this every day for the time being I believe there are posts going unanswered because of this, especially in the lower volume forums such as the GS/LS/RX etc. If people are not on every day, a lot of posts will be missed.
  2. Yes mate, any other car you can change the ring but with LEXUS you gor to change drive shaft? which is a pain as the drive shaft it self is fine. anyway as i said i got 2 coming hopefully tomorrow and i can have a good look at them to see if they can be servicable, and will keep you informed. My local garage seviced my car and said that you would not think it was 12 years old it drives like a new car, only fault was this clicking . Sounds odd, I would've thought that the CV joints would be available seperately, even if the ring wasn't. Hopefully they will have it sorted soon.
  3. OK, get what you mean now. Looks like the ring is part of the outer CV joint.
  4. There are quite a few places that seem to do fixed price AC repairs, same price no matter what the problem. I'm sure they work on the presmise that most repairs will be a 2 pence O ring, so that makes up for the more costly ones. I'm sure I recall there is a place in Nottingham that does it for £100 (from when I wwas going to get a car looked at when I lived in Derby). Might be an option?
  5. you might be better off asking these questions in the "Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security" sub forum. You may get some of the answers you are after from non GS/Aristo owners.
  6. Blue sidelights are not legal. I have bright white leds in my sidelights, which do look slightly blue'ish, but they match the 6000k hids quite well and haven't drawn the attentions of the fuzz.
  7. Ah yeah, good call. From a cosmetics perspective, there is not much to beat it.
  8. Agree it all depends on your tastes and preferences. From mainly cosmetic perspecitve, there are lots on here, Ormi's being one of the more recent pics that I remember. From an out and out mod'ing and desirability perspective, I think I would be hard pushed to pick between Monster Mats, IS200Sam's, Sparkystav's, Yeldarb's and Mr Singhs.
  9. The error codes can be reset but they do come back. Doing this just disguises the problem and doesn't give confidence in owning the car knowing there is a problem which needs to be fixed. Where has the OP gone, have we frightened him off? Yeah, agreed a fix is better. What are the actual concequences of the error though? Is there really a problem, or just spurious error codes that are not causing any damage. My point being that if you don't have 3 grand to chuck at the car, it is an alternative option. or not? It's a software fault in the ECU (which thinks the mixture is too rich I believe) - They have now changed both O2 sensors to a differnet type and updated the software. I think the outcome of ignoring the fault codes is naff all UNLESS the codes put you in 'limp home mode' of course... The Ed Plus also the car will fail it's MOT if a fault light like Check VSC is flashing. Needs to be fixed but Lexus really should be fixing these faults for free. Are you there OP? Yeah I agree that they should fix a know issue like this. Even if they don't issue a recall, if it does show itself, they should fix. I assume by the fact that a recall hasn't come about that it doesn't effect ALL vehicles, or does it? On my origian question on this and restting codes, I'm just saying..... if you do have to pay yourself, and don't have 3k to spend, and there is actually no harm coming to the car, and it only happens intermittantly, then just resetting the codes is a cheap option. If you can reset and be clear for a couple of weeks, you'd have to be pretty unlucky for it to crop up when you have put it in for an MOT. If you can afford the 3k, or Lexus will fix it, then I would fix it properly also.
  10. Last time I was enquiring at my local Lexus dealer about wheel nuts, the sport wheels were still listed with a part number. From what I recall, they werent that expensive and I think it was somewhere around the 250 mark per wheel, but don't quote me on that.

  12. Probably the best bet is a breaker mate, I have many spare parts for my GS in the garage, but not a complete interior trim. so quite a tall order for anyone to fulfil really
  13. Can the standard ODBII readers reset the codes? Just an idea but if the error comes up every couple of weeks, can it not just be reset and then carry on as usual? a couple of hundred if that on a reader to reset every couple of weeks rather than a few grand (unless it is covered under the warranty of course).
  14. From what I can gather, the fuel guage on these cars don't work purely from the sender in the tank. The guage moves as it thinks it has used the fuel, and periodically re-adjusts based on the sender unit in the tank. I guess if you emrgency braked at a point when it was re-adjusting from the sender, you could end up with an indication when the fuel was sloshed forward in the tank.
  15. I think it due to the fact the Lexus dealerships are just franchises. So the owning company of one Lexus dealer is not always the same as another. If each "parent" company has differing hourly rates for instance, the costs will vary between them.
  16. I've used aftermarket "cheap" ones on mine before with no problems at all. I've found the calipers and slide pins to be the major cause of headaches on the brakes. If they sieze up to any major extent, your discs are toast regardless of price/brand. The current grooved and dimpled discs on mine have lasted well so far.
  17. You do lose some acceleration as the 18's weigh more so more unsprung weight. How much difference I don't know. I don't think there is an insurance price difference but insurance companies are a law unto themselves and make it up as they go along. You are right, there was technically no such thing as a "Sport" from the factory. They all hit our shores the same and were dealer modified. 25mm drop all round, 8.5" TTE alloys all round with an option for 10" rears. Boot spoiler. Different grill. Window decal in the rear qtr panel windows, front bumper sticker. That was it I think. No performance mods.
  18. Sorry, reading 16" wheels I just automatically think of a non-sport model. :duh:
  19. As far as I know, standard thickness is 32mm, minimum thickness is 30mm (excluding the lip on the edge).
  20. Sorry, was meant to say, you certainly can just use it as the spare. It will fit no problem on your non-sport model.
