  1. The navigation ecu will just be the factory sat nav connector to feed the instructions through the speakers. If your car is non sat nav, it is not practical to swap the factory units. No idea on the power inputs and outputs of the factory amp. I was running my Vibe sub with the aftermarket head unit. The rest of the speakers were running fine (excluding the factory sub, which I removed).
  2. Diagrams below. For what its worth, the sound quality improved (IMO) when I ditched the factory amp in my Mk1. Although I never ran the factory sub with my new head unit, I had a Vibe active sub in the boot, but the bass was really good even with the sub turned off. I'll have to wait and see how it goes with the mk2.
  3. I've bought calipers from Bigg Red, no complaints at all.
  4. I am about to go through this process on my '99 Sport. The two options I am considering are: 1. Use the RCA outputs of the head unit and feed those to the existing amp. No idea if it'll work or not. 2. Do what I did on my '96 Sport, and bypass the amp. I did it at the amp location before, disconnecting the amp and joining the inputs to the outputs on the connectors. Just saved running new wires to the speakers. Does your new head unit not have a built in amp? If it does, in simplest terms, and cheapest, the garage should just be able to run new speaker cables to the speakers. Have they not suggested that?
  5. +1 :winky: p.s. someone got a bargain on the GS didnt they :o Andy Yup, they sure did :( Luck of the draw unfortunately on ebay. Although she is very high on mileage and it is enough to pay for a new stereo for the mk2 :)
  6. Do you mean they stay on forever? Or go off when you open the door, or after a short while?
  7. Yup, I'd go for the trolley jack and the middle of the road approach.
  8. I'm pretty sure that would be a typo mate unless they were on about a completely different marque. i.e. is it Hyundai that have an I20 or something, and someone is getting confused. There is only the IS200 or Altezza (The Toyota import equivelent) as far as I know.
  9. I was assuming that would be the answer for the GS, but no harm in hoping.
  10. It seems the last few mk1 were marketed as the legato. No idea why someone would want velour over leather, but there must've been a reason.
  11. How was he going to pay? As it doesn't sound like it was by card from what you are saying. If that is the case, I am not surprised they would not ship without a transfer. If not, it would seem odd.
  12. Does anyone know if the factory Sat Nav from mk2 GS will fit and replace the head unit and Climate controls in a non Sat Nav mk2 GS? i.e. just plug and play, remove the old, plug in the Nav unit? Cheers
  13. Sorry, I don't have an IS, I just chirped in from what I've read on the forums as the IS owners on here seemed to be a bit shy.
  14. I believe the expansion tank is built into the top of the radiator. If you look at the back of the radiator, you should see the clear part for seeing the water level.
  15. Use a router on a piece of string, works very well for cutting circles :)
  16. Would it be possible to remove the "1 year" filter that is automatically imposed when trying to track down your own content? It can be a real nightmare to find things, and when you know the topic is actually your own, it would be handy to get a list of ALL topics, not just the last year. Cheers
  17. Hi mate, from the links I and the others have posted, you should have all the info you need. As I suspected, there are no slide pins on the rear (see the diagram posted above) so I assume the kit is the retaining pins and shims.
  18. You are confusing me now mate. If the rubber boots are fine, then you don't want everything? So what list do you want? Did you look in the topic I posted above, you will see what you need from that (for the fronts at least)? Even if the numbers are not the same, you can give the numbers to the parts guy and tell him you want the IS equivelents. I'm still not convinced there are slide pins on the rear of an IS. There must be some IS owners looking at this thread to chirp in about rears!?
  19. Sorry, not too clued up on the IS but I didn't think the rears on the IS used slide pins, I thought it was opposing pistons ala the good old days? As far as the fronts go, when you say "rubbers", do you mean the rubber boots? The reason I ask, is one slide pin on each side has a rubber bush on it, so it could mean those. I did a turorial on the slide pins on my GS (the IS fronts are the same procedure), Clicky, so take a look on there to see what I mean. p.s. The disc and caliper change tutorials in my sig lines are also the same procedures for the IS fronts.
