  1. Have a look on eBay, you will get the hid bulbs for about 20 quid.
  2. Yup, means I can have a little mess about with some alternate finishes to see if they look any good.
  3. As I am getting ready to get my mk1 Sport wheels refurbished, and I want to go the diamond cut route, I decided to try and get a set of diamond cut centres together. As luck would have it, a set of four came up on eBay at a good buy it now price. After buying them, the seller called and asked if I wanted a set of Sport wheels with the 10" rears. I umm'ed and ah'ed a bit as I already had a spare set, then he said "£80 for the set". Needless to say, they are now in my possession. They need a refurb, but for £80, can't grumble :)
  4. Use the link below to compare wheel specs compared to the standard wheels. You will then be able to see how the offset and width will effect where the front face of the wheel will sit, or if they are likely to catch the arch or struts (you would need to measure the physical gap on the car itself to know what tolerance you've got in either direction). clicky
  5. Do you have auto headlights, and if so, are they working ok on auto?
  6. Can't remember where the filter was on the old GS 300. GS 430 is behind a flap in rear of glovebox so might be worth a look there. from what I remember, on the mk1, you drop the bottom cover under the dash on the passenger side, and undo a wing nut and the cover and filter come out the bottom. Mine had the cover in place, but never actually had a filter in it.
  7. I think the offset on the 10" rears were 46, but the offset would depend on the size of the new wheels and how you want them to sit in the arches.
  8. I would try and pull the radio fuses just to check the stereo hasn't got itself stuck in the cycle. Not sure what the fuses would be called on the IS, but if they are anything like the GS, it will be something like "no1 radio", "cig" and "dome". They all have a connection of some sort to the radio on the GS. Also, when it is in this cycle, will it allow you to eject the cd(s)?
  9. definately sounds like moisture is coming in somewhere. Might be worth checking down the sides of the boot where the sunroof drain pipes pass through the plastic vents (the vents go through the body panels but behind the bumper, so only visible from inside the boot). The pipe(s) can come adrift and the water could end up not draining through the vents. Is the aircon working ok?
  10. You may need to reset the key transponder. Insert the key, turn it to acc position (do not start) and leave for 6 mins. Remove key, and then try starting the car.
  11. They are a 12 disc changer in the mk1 GS's. There is a headunit and changer for sale on ebay at the moment for £65 plus £10 postage. clicky
  12. Dodgy font, failure sheet says something like "font not close enough to standard font", or words to that effect. Fair enough they wanted to see a legal set to cover their behinds, just seemed a bit petty as they knew they would get taken straight off again.
  13. My '99 GS300 Sport went in for it's MOT on Wednesday. Thankfully it sailed through on everything bar the font on the number plates. So after the call from the garage I go down with my legal plates. The reception guy knew I would swap them back straight away once the new ticket was written so said "let's see if the tester will pass it as you have some legal plates". Nope, the tester made me stick the legal ones on and then refused to retest straight away so I had to walk home again and come back later. The other guy apologised, so he clearly thought the tester was being a bit of a tool. Jobs worth, or justified? Either way it was a relief it sailed through bar the technicality :)
  14. Does anyone have a MK2 Sport centre cap they are prepared to sell? Cheers
  15. Dismantling under the dash is your only option that I can see. I have a cartridge, send me a PM with contact details and I'm sure we can sort something out.
  16. I would tend to think more a bearing if it is louder with the window shut, but a caliper/slider issue would certainyl be cheaper and easier to fix. he vibrating under braking could also be a sign of sticking caliper/slider or the resulting warp of a disc if it got bad enough.
  17. Also look at uprated ARB's to sharpen up the handling, probably one of the more forgotten handling mods.
  18. The switches are built into the lock striker mechanism in the door. The door card would have to come off to get to the switch.
  19. Fair enough. In that case I would check the oil level and then try the car, stereo off, all windows down and listen and feel. Any noises from the transmission or jerks in the drive and I WOULD lay it up until another diff can be fitted. If all seems good, treat it gently. and avoid sharp corners or your tyres will be history pretty quickly.
  20. Sounds odd to me that it is "about to go". If it was "about to go", it hasn't gone so there would be no difference with anything, if it "Had gone", then that is different. I would get a second opinion.
  21. See your other post.
