  1. Also worth making sure that any "foreign"'sourced units that play DVDs will let you play European region DVDs too.
  2. Just received my LED fogs for my GS. The connector has a dual filament style connector so it can light up as a side light as well as full power for fog light. To utilise this, I'll need a couple of dual filament (580 type bulb) bulb holder. Does anyone know where I can get a couple, and how much they are? I guess it is the same as what is needed to do the IS fog lamp mod that folk do. I might as well hook in a diode to have it function as a stop and foglight too while I'm at it. Any help much appreciated.
  3. Even if the wipers sweep over it?
  4. No problem with fouling wipers if you put it on the inside. Not sure whether it would be classed as an obstruction and a fail though. Yeah, but unfortunately I dont want it on the inside as it doesn't look the same.
  5. Is the fuse link in the lighter socket base playing up?
  6. Good point. Are there any rules about putting shorter blades on? i.e. If they don't reach the sunstrip, which means the strip is out of the swept area, it shouldn't fail?
  7. I'm in the process of trying to slightly individualise the external appearance of my mk2 GS300 Sport. As part of that, I have so far done/doing the following: Mk1 Sport wheels with 10" rears New rear lamp clusters New rear fogs Rear roof spoiler Headlamp eyebrows Clear side repeaters Black out rear tints I am toying with the sunstrip idea at the moment. The solid type rather than the gradient ones. I'm having difficulty visualising it on the Lex, has anyone done it on theirs (any Lex, not just a GS)? Any pics? I'm thinking about a black one, maybe with a Lexus logo. Any pros and cons?
  8. If the caliper/slidepin is sticking, the brake remains partially on and the disc start to overheat and warp, and that starts the vibration. As it cools (and the pad eventually retracts or wears enough) the vibration subsides. I would say it is more prone on the front of the IS, as there aren't any slidepins on the rear. No idea if the rear calipers are prone to sticking. If you can't feel anything untoward through the steering wheel, I would tend to point towards the rear.
  9. I agree, check for sticking caliper or slide pin(s).
  10. Have you tried any of your local motor factors? I think KYB make shockers for various models, but no idea I'd they make them for the later cars. Failing that, I can't think of anywhere other than Lexus or a breakers yard.
  11. No idea what the amp kicks out mate. I have mine laying around in the garage, I'll take a look later and see if the specs are on a label on it.
  12. The fuel pump will run all of the time. What noise are you getting? A ticking noise might be an injector rather than the pump.
  13. Did your reversing lights come on as they should even when the camera didn't? If not, I would suspect the reverse lamp switch.
  14. If you mean does the headunit have RCA jacks on the back, then the answer is unfortunately not. They are line level outputs (no idea if they are the same line levels that would normally be expected on RCAs though), they are on a multiway plug though. The amp that runs the sub and normal speakers is located below the cd changer in the boot, so if the sub only has failed, it may be worth checking the connections to the sub (as the amp also runs the other speakers and they are still working). The power to the amp is on a 40 amp fuse if I remember correctly, so you may be able to grab power from there in the boot.
  15. Welcome to LOC, good choice B)
  16. Looks very nice mate, same colour as mine I think B)
  17. The headlamp washers share the same bottle. I do keep saying mate, I have a CD cartridge, just pm me and we can sort something out.
  18. The link is in the post further up, click where it says "this camera". Only thing is it is an NTSC signal, not PAL, I can set that on my head unit though, so it shouldn't be a problem. I ordered it a couple of hours ago so if you are not in a huge rush, I can update you once I have tried it out.
  19. Yeah, that is the kind of thing I'm after. The camera I have linked to does superimpose that guide box onto the picture, I think for the sake of £20 I might as well give it a go and see what the outcome is.
  20. hmm, was hoping someone would've fitted a camera and might have a recomendation. In the absense of that, any comments on this one? I would remove the camera from the mount that it is on to fit it to my car, just the spec I have no idea about. I do like the idea of the guide lines being built in. This camera
  21. Well, I learn something new every day thanks Rick. Andy The code is set from the manufacturing plant and is the last 3 or 4 (can't remember exactly) numbers of the VIN number. Hopefully, no previous owner has changed it. By default, there is no code set, someone has to enable it in the stereo settings, and at that point the code can be set to any code. If the code is enabled, there is no harm in trying the last 4 numbers of the vin code. Either way, if it doesn't display SEC when the stereo is switched on, there is no code set.
  22. If you switch the radio on and it displays "SEC" on the radio display momentarily, then a code has been set. The code is set by the user so if there is a code, and you weren't told what it was, you are unlikely to guess it correcty. You get 9 goes before the stereo locks. If SEC isn't displayed, you are good to go with the battery change.
  23. Great choice, I had a mk1 Sport until very recently, now on a mk2 Sport. Fantastic cars.
