  1. Nice job mate. I would've used the jack(s) when taking the box off too. Well done :)
  2. Ah ok, that is a mk2. "Radio No.1" is the perm 12V to the amp, located by the side of the footwell next to the glovebox. "Radio No.2" is the switched 12v to the headunit and changer. "DOME" is the perm 12v to the headunit and changer. The switched 12v to the amp is routed via the headunit.
  3. Are you sure you have a series 1 in that case? What year is it? In my signature line below, I have a pic of the mk1 and mk2 GS's I've had, is yours like the red or blue one?
  4. OK, I don't recall any labelled as "Radio" when I had mine. "Rad No1" supplied the perm 12v to the amp in the boot. "DOME" suppied the perv 12v to the headunit. "CIG" supplied the switched 12v to the headunit and amp (plus other items in the car). "Panel" supplied the illumination for the headunit and the eject button on the CD changer (along with the other illuminated items in the car via the brightness rheostat). If they are all ok, then you will need to start looking at power feeds and earth points. The amp is located under the cd changer in the boot, so if you have had any water leaks into the boot, the amp could get flooded.
  5. I've no idea which scanner it was mate. Best bet is to PM him and ask, If it is the same one then at least you'll know it was tried on another early mk2 GS and didn't work. I seem to remember Maneesh on here having all kinds of trouble trying to find a scanner that worked on an early mk2, but can't remember if he ever found one or not. He doesn't frequent here anymore since writing off his mk2 Sport and changing marquee to Honda I think it was. But again, a PM to him might bring him back for an answer.
  6. I am awaiting responses too mate, as I would like to know. mike213735 bought a scanner round a few weeks ago which I tried. That didn't work on my '99 mk2. I've no idea what scanner it was so maybe PM him and ask.
  7. The Plank and Leggit is at Sawley, Longeaton, just outside Derby (in between Derby and Nottingham). There used to be a fairly regular meet up there. I attended once and changed a members IS200 front discs and pads in the car park. Nice venue but unfortunately I don't live up that way anymore.
  8. I find the whole column move irritating once the novelty wore off, so I know where the OP is coming from. But back to the OP's question about a dealer setting or a DIY one, I'm not aware of a DIY setting change procedure other than disconnecting the ecu that controls it. So off to the dealer I suspect, and the lottery of how much they will try to charge to change it.
  9. To be fair, the telescopic column stopped working on my mk1 for the in/out adjustment. So they can break in the end.
  10. Anti roll bar drop links are a fairly common cause of knocks and thuds, as are the arb bushes as mentioned above. Dry caliper slide pins as mentioned further up are also worth a check as they are cheap and easy to re-grease.
  11. as far as I know, 227, is the bhp of the non turbo version. The TT bhp is 325'ish. No idea about 6 seconds Worn suspension bushes, sticking caliper/slidepins on brakes, if it has the 4 wheel steering, get that checked out as very expensive to fix (You can get a kit by TOMs to disable the rear steering, but not cheap either). No idea on common issues with the engine regaring the TT's as wouldn't have a clue on how you would check the turbos.
  12. Must admit, a wee bit warmer weather would be good mate.
  13. Having just put the fogs in over lunchtime, I find that the GS already has dual sockets and bulbs in the fogs Fortunately the ebayer hadn't come back on the buy it now for the looms so I have cancelled out of that Just need to figure out where the wires for the second circuit go to. It could turn out simpler than I thought to get the sidelight side of the fogs working. I'll pop to Maplin later and pickup a couple of Diodes to sort the brake light side of it.
  14. Thanks for that, Looks very good :)
  15. It doesn't look like a factory fit switch, so who ever had it before you fitted it and no-one else is likely to have one like it. Tracing the wires would be the only way of finding the purpose if it isn't obvious. It could even be something like switching a permanent 12v to the cigarette lighter socket so they could charge something when they left the car.
  16. Cheers Ormi, Should be sorted now with a couple of IS200 looms. I'll stick the fogs in as standard for the time being, and then do the sidelight and brake light mod when the looms arrive.
  17. As per your other threads, is it the injectors you can hear?
  18. Are you sure it isn't the injectors you can hear?
