  1. If I search eBay with "GS300 tensioner", I only get GS300 results. No idea if the land rover one is the same, but I would stick with one listed for a GS myself.
  2. Cant help with the fix unfortunately, but my old mk1 Sport did the exact same thing just before I sold it. All I can suggest is trying to disconnect the battery (make sure you have your stereo security code first if it is enabled) to see if the steering column ecu resetting sorts it out. Maybe the ecu has lost track of where it's current position is.
  3. Sounds like the starter/solenoid mate. There is a link in my sig to overhaul the starter. Exact symptoms I would expect when it just gets stuck on completely. The clicking and not turning over are the first symptoms that the unit is on it's way out and the solenoid contacts are starting to stick. With any luck, a replacement starter should be all that is needed.
  4. Welcome to LOC Unfortunately nothing that springs to mind without the codes, just so many reason for the light to be on.
  5. You should be able to get a set of coilovers for between £500-£800 new, second hand a bit cheaper. True VIP would be air suspension, which would probably run around £1100'ish. Plenty of budget left for some other bits and bobs at those prices. Good luck.
  6. They bolt to the bottom of the door. Separation would suggest broken bolt(s) or corrosion forcing them apart or corroding the bolt hole. Or of course it could've got dented (the door stayed dented and the plastic trim popped back out). What budget are you working too? You should easily get a mk1 for £500.
  7. If the RX starter is the same as the rest of the range, then there is a common issue with the contacts on the solenoid. I have a link to a tutorial that I did for my GS in my signature regarding changing the solenoid contacts. It doesn't cover getting the starter off, but will give an idea on the fix.
  8. Welcome to LOC. Mk1's seem to be going for an absolute steal at the moment, so I can't imagine you should have much trouble with them. Mk2's have held their price a little better, but if you are planning to VIP it then the standard models (not the Sport) go for pretty low money. Good luck with the search, and keep us updated with the progress, for buying and VIP'ing.
  9. ACLex is a main dealer guy, gives a good discount to LOC members ;)
  10. The suspension is adjustable so they don't rub when it is being driven. They only get dropped that low for show. I think it looks ok for what they have done, the only VIP thing I don't like at all is mega stretched tyres, but the rest I don't mind. I wouldn't have one myself though.
  11. Hid kits to convert non hid cars have the whole kit and caboodle, but if your car has factory fitted hids, then you just buy replacement bulbs.
  12. Try PM'ing ACLex, he may be able to do a Sport Grill and he takes payment over the phone.
  13. I you read the post, he did say he didn't want to buy an engine
  14. They never answer emails! That's why I went to Birmingham. That's strange. They replied a couple of weeks ago as I asked them what noise level the exhaust were. They said they had 3 different levels and 87 different tail pipe designs to choose from. I am looking at trying to get up there in a few weeks, fingers crossed.
  15. Depending where you are, there is a company in Leeds doing a cat back custom system for £299.
  16. What year is your GS? you can normally pick up mk1 and mk2 back boxes for around £100 on eBay.
  17. Can't think why the wheels would effect it. There are height sensors on the front and rear suspension, so maybe one of those is playing up?
  18. I probably have an old pin knocking about which would tide you over.
  19. If the stereo displays "SEC" momentarily when it is switched on, then it has a code set. If it doesn't, then there is no code and you are good to go. The code is completely user settable to whatever you want at the point the code is enabled, so in principal, there is no way of obtaining it. Some dealers set it to the last 4 of the vin number, so you may be lucky. if "SEC" doesn't show, you have nothing to worry about anyway, so check that first.
  20. I have a carrier off an IS, but I'm at the airport going to Spain at the moment. If you need it still when I get back in a week, let me know.
  21. I'm at the airport as I type ready to head out to Spain for a week. Let me know what you decide if it is after I get back :)
  22. Does it start the car as well? I thought the keys did have a transponder.
