  1. The radio doesn't have the code set/enabled by default. I would install the headunit and if it asks for a code, worry about it then. If it doesn't, jobs a good un. (if the headunit displays "SEC" when turned on, it has a code set)
  2. Welcome to LOC. Just feel free to ask whatever you need, hopefully someone will have an answer.
  3. I have a PDF workshop manual. PM me and I'll sort something out for you. Make sure if you are getting someone to do the timing belt, that they change the idler pulley at the same time. They are just push in plastic trim clips that hold that boot trim in place. Try PM'ing the user ACLex on here, he will sort parts out for you with a decent LOC discount (he works for Lexus Poole). Most Lexus dealers offer a discount for LOC, although you may have to go "gold member" to get discount at some places.
  4. As far as I know, it is just a case of taking off the scuff plate and pulling back the carpet. You can them unplug it.
  5. The only time an over fill is a problem is if it is significant enough for the crank to start hitting the oil as it spins. I would not expect 1cm to cause that problem so you should be fine. Car manufacturers are pretty good at leaving decent tolerances for errors by home mechanics. I've no idea how a slight overfil would stress an oil pump, or indeed stress seals.
  6. Does anyone have any instructions/manuals for the above?
  7. I'm interested in this question myself. From what I can tell, they are indeed the same barring wire length and gromets (if they are the rear ones that go into the foot well floor for instance). The downside with the really cheap ones, is you need to start cutting and splicing plugs of the old one onto the new one, which could be unreliable depending how DIY orientated you are. The mid range priced ones, £75 - £100 seem to have the plugs on. It is then just a case of trying to marry up what they call each sensor location, and what Lexus call each location.
  8. you can check buy them relatively cheep through this genuine Lexus site. You will need the part number from your existing disc to get the correct update disc. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/
  9. He didn't say "red" did he? He said "led" To the OP, sorry, cant help as I don't have an IS so no idea what type of bulb the reversing lamps are. Re: wood trims from the US, just be careful if it's for a left hand drive version, as they may not fit a right hand drive car properly.
  10. would double check if the GPS receiver is separate from what is included in the listing.I
  11. Try PM'ing member ACLex on here, he works for Lexus Poole, and will do you a good deal if there are any in the dealer network.
  12. For additional info, does the car have factory hids? Do the lights fail to come on in "auto" mode as well as manual? Side and main working ok?
  13. Well, the time has come sooner than I was intending, but it is time to move on from the '99 mk2 GS300 Sport. Not going to far though, picking up a '01 GS430 Sport this evening If anyone is interested in a Dark Metallic Blue, Black leather, GS300 Sport, drop me a PM :)
  14. On the GS, and I think LS too, you have to enable the code for it to be active. If the code is off, you can disconnect the battery without any issues. If "SEC" is displayed on the stereo briefly when it is powered up, then the code is enabled.
  15. If you did it off the side lights, you can hook into the bulb connection for the cigarette lighter, which is the simplest solution. If it has to be on headlights only, then you can hook into the wiring that goes to/from the stalk like you mention. No idea on wire colours, but the link posted above will have the diagrams to find the right one.
  16. Pretty convinced the answer is no. Is200 springs should be cheap enough on eBay I would've thought though?
  17. I would double check guarantees on the refurb too. When I had my mk1 GS Sport wheels refurbed, I wanted to get them diamond cut. The firm said that they could do that, but they couldn't guarantee the finish (due to salt and poor adhesion of laquer to diamond cut), where as their powder coating carried a 12 month warranty. I had no reason to question them as diamond cutting was £20 per wheel more expensive, so they talked themselves out of 80 quid extra. I went for the bright silver flake in the end, but my spare set I am going to get done in the "medium chrome" effect as they call it to see how that looks.
  18. There is a similar grommet on the GS by the battery, I used a metal coat hanger to help thread and pull the power cable through when I did the exact same job.
