  1. Genuine exhausts are hell'ish expensive. An after market custom made cat back system can be built for £300 to £400 so not too bad. Back boxes are on ebay pretty regular for not too bad a price.
  2. With the overdrive button, if the lamp is illuminated on the dash, then overdrive is turned off and won't engage to lower the RPM. By default, it will always be on (the lamp on the dash is off), so it will have been working. 28 mpg sounds about right for cruising and a bit of mixed. Should do just over 30 on a steady motorway run. Yes, there should be a back light on the temp display, your bulbs have blown. There is a link in my signatture below on a tutorial I wrote for taking the panel out and changing the bulbs. Any problems, give me a shout. As far as the stereo goes, no idea why the dolby button should need pressing, that isn't normal.
  3. Yeah, I can see the pics. Funny setup they've gone for on these They are the HT leads/Cords that go from the individual coil packs to the spark plugs. I would've thought any breakers breaking a Mk2 GS300 would probably have some, try ebay or one of the online breaker services. It does look like some of the wiring to the coil pack has taken a hit too though from the second pic.
  4. Would definitely need to see the picture to understand what you are talking about. I'm sure the mk2 GS's have coilpacks on each plug so don't have HT leads
  5. Look on eBay mate, more upper wishbones than you can shake a stick at.
  6. Performance for me, and looks. Running costs come way below that, especially now I don't do the kind of mileages I used to. I've had relative gas guzzlers for years and doing 30K plus miles a year. Now I'm down to 7K or 8K a year, everything seems cheap on the fuel front, despite prices what they are.
  7. No practical experience but I would've expected to get the same guage pipe or bigger. Is that the diameter of the main pipe, or of each of the twin exit pipes?
  8. Has anybody used any window tinting companies in the Basingstoke/Reading area that they would recommend? I want the rear end of the car tinting, that is... Passenger door windows, quarter lights and rear screen. Cheers.
  9. There is a seller in the states on eBay does them for about £170 delivered.
  10. Looks like it is for the heated Windscreen (it only heats the strip under the parked wipers - to free them up in the winter if frozen)
  11. There is a transponder in the key. Try holding your key right next to the pickup ring around the barrel, it should then start.
  12. Well, after more googling, I came across a thread on ClubLexus about jzs161 power fold mirrors. As I've found, that thread also mentions how rare they are to find and get a hold of. I wonder why they are so rare compared to jzs147's and later 190's
  13. Hi Rick, as most of the EPC is in Japanese it is difficult to make any distinction but judging from the part numbers I think its a good bet that all aristos have power fold mirrors. Andy Ok, thanks Andy.
  14. Sorry to mislead you, I was refering in general to JDM models from the fact my 1994 Celsior has them not specifically the MkII GS300. Ah ok, fair enough.
  15. I agree with the above. There is a link in my sig to a tutorial I did for overhauling slide pins, it may help.
  16. Unless I'm missing something, and the ISF has a manual gearbox with an automatic clutch, I assume it has a torque convertor. In which case, what clutch are you talking about?
  17. Strange. Seems odd that I can't find any trace of parts for power folding on the mk2's second hand. An abundnace of them for mk1 and mk3 cars. I'll keep looking. Andy, Do they list power fold mirrors too, or just the switch? Steve, where did you get info from that the JDM Market has them?
  18. Does anyone know if the mk2 GS series ever came with power fold mirrors? The mk1's never had them as a uk model, but the JDM market got them. I therefore bought a set of JDM ones for my mk1. I can't seem to find any trace of such a feature on the mk2's though, in any market. Seems so odd that the IS has always had them, yet it's bigger brother wasnt worthy.
  19. Bearing in mind that the Horns can only legally be used as an audible warning of approach in situations like offset or hump-backed bridges where you can't be seen from the other side, and not at all in built-up areas after 11 pm and not to wake up dozy drivers at traffic lights, comment on other driver's mistakes or get the attention of pretty girls etc; I'm not sure who is the bad driver? Are you sure that is correct? As I understand it, your horn can be used at any point while moving to warn other road users of your presence. And can be used in built up areas after 11pm if there is a need for safety reasons to indicate your presence.
  20. Could be a dodgy starter/solenoid. A reasonably common issue on most older Lexus models. There is a link in my signature to a tutorial I did for overhauling the starter/solenoid (it was on a mk1 GS300 but they are the same/similar to other models).
