  1. As mentioned already, in the manual (in the "Starting and driving" section for the GS430) it tells you how to use the gearbox for engine braking and at what max speed each gear could be engaged. If it was going to damage the car, it wouldn't tell you how to do it. So in answer to your question, anybody that has read their manual will know for sure ;)
  2. Swapped the wheels over yesterday. 1st pic is the bright silver sparkle (that's the name at the refurb place) with summer tyres 2nd pic is the Anthracite with winter boots on.
  3. The coolant fan is viscous coupled from what I remember, so that would be a good port of call if there are definately no coolant leaks or issues. The smaller electric fan I'm sure is the aircon fan, so won't kick in to aid coolant temps.
  4. Welcome to LOC, ditto Dave1, a great choice B)
  5. Welcome to LOC. What year is your Aristo? Any pics?
  6. When you need to replace again I can strongly recommend Avon ZZ5. Have run 452's for 4or 5 years on 2 cars and loved them but changed recently to these ZZ5's and they are even better and very quiet. I only changed because I couldn't get 452's at a good price. Cheers Dave, I'll keep them in mind :)
  7. The anti roll bar drop links is a common'ish cause, as can be the anti roll bar bushes (just changed those on my GS430 to fix the same problem). The garage need to yank about on stuff with everything under load (i.e. the car sat on all four wheels) to stand any chance of finding the problem.
  8. Why is it bad driving? You are in a gear suitable for the conditions. I've always been taught to use the gears on steep declines as overheating your brakes and them fading to useless by the bottom of the hill is much less desirable.
  9. I wouldn't think it would make much difference in ride quality to be honest. I wouldn't have expected that harsh a ride on 17's with 45 profile tyres. Maybe the Camry just had even softer springs and shocks. As far as noise goes, it would be more brand related than the change in profile, I've found the falken FK452's on mine much quieter than the eagle F1's they replaced. No idea on consumption, in theory it would work the car a little harder to get rolling with a larger circumference, but you might gain it back cruising at a teeny bit lower revs.
  10. If you look in the main forum index for the "Lexus Discount Parts" section, you can post in there on his threads, or PM him and he will get back to you.
  11. The user ACLex on this forum works for Lexus Poole in the parts department. He usually comes up with a good discount for LOC members ;)
  12. Thanks for your reply Do you have any pics? Not at the moment. I can do some of the wheels off the car in the morning, if you want some on the car, that will probably be at the weekend unless I end up putting them on one evening.
  13. Good luck with getting things sorted, I know how frustrating it can be when I've had issues on my site.
  14. Have you tried reversing the direction of play before it has a chance to spit it out? Or tried a tape cleaner through it?
  15. I've just had my spare set of mk1 Sport wheels refurbed and winter tyres put on, they were done in light anthracite, which is still pretty dark compared the bright silver sparkle of the main set. They look great off the car and not seen them on the car yet but they will be going on in the next few days. Mine is a GS430 Sport in silver.
  16. Either of those should be fine, you just need to make sure the terminals are on the right side. With the two terminals closest to you, the positive one should be on the right. (when fitted to the car, the positive will be on the left looking from the front of the engine bay). the 069 has a greater cranking ampage and capacity so a bit heavier duty.
  17. Do you have a brake light out?
  18. Removing the battery was just done sat in the car with nothing switched on and key/fob in hand held near centre console. If the key worked in the barrel before, then it sounds most likely to be corroded/dirty barrels.
