  1. There is also a fuse link in the bottom of the socket too. If it is blown, you can undo the small nut on the bottom of the socket (you need to take the while lighter socket unit out to do it) and remove the insulating disc, put the nut back on and tighten up, job done.
  2. Sounds like the solenoid contacts in the starter motor. Eventually it will give up completely or jam on and keep cranking even when you switch the ignition off. There is a link in my signature block to a tutorial I wrote for overhauling the starter if you are into DIY.
  3. I've never lost that much on a good wheel/tyre with everything as it should be. I check every couple of weeks, but rarely have to top up. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I wouldn't call it normal.
  4. Welcome to LOC. Congrats on a good choice of motor. As mentioned, not a lot of options for power upgrades, the Aristo vertex twin turbo has the extra power straight out of the box, or the GS430 (which is what I went for). Pretty expensive any other route. Are you sure you have a V6? I thought that didn't come in until the 3rd gen GS's. Prior to that the mk1 and 2 has straight inline 6 (I6) cylinder engines.
  5. Just to add to ACLex, the valet keys won't open the glove box or boot with the key if they are locked. (not sure about the boot on the RX as you climb over from the front??)
  6. Might be worth checking the inner rim for cracks. It is a common issue on the 10" wide rears, not sure if it was on the 8.5" wide rims though.
  7. Yeah, the bottom pic is from my thread on here. It would seem the brackets required are
  8. Ive not seen any aftermarket double din kits for a right hand drive mk1 GS300, all of the autolead type ones have always been lft hand drive. Toyota do one for the aristo, there are some part numbers in my signature link for the "mk1 Single Din Install". I made my own bracket, but I suspect there is a Toyota item. The tricky bit is knowing what to order 'cos the parts diagrams are pants. When I did my install, I couldn't fins any adaptors, and as I had no plans to revert to factory headunit, I just cut the connectors and fitted ISO plugs to the factory harness (So I could connect the parrot handsfree kit in as well). I bypassed the amp in the boot so that I didn't need to run new wires to all the speakers.

    Mk1 Exhaust

There is a place in Leeds that makes custom ones for £299. A bit of a trek, but not too bad. I'm sure there will be places closer that also do custom made setups.
  10. There have been some requests for those recently so should do well if the price comes in good.
  11. Either that or maybe someone had their trolley jack under the wrong place
  12. They were £55 per wheel, which isn't the cheapest about but the quality is 1st class. I did have to pay a bit extra as once the paint was stripped off the 10" rears, one of them had two cracks in (a common issue on the 10" rears), so they needed welding.
  13. Yeah, I'll do a fit in my GS430 Sport to see how it goes. Just let me know the details for getting the bits mate.
  14. Sorry, I meant i posted a while ago on LOC regarding HUD's, not specifically to your posts. Although I did jump the gun in the IS section... oops!
  15. There are no slide pins on the back of the mk2 GS (there are on the mk1's though). I would image the retaining pin and shims would be the same as the IS rears, but can't guarantee it. As Steve mentions, are yours missing altogether?
  16. Somehow I think you have made your mind up regardless of what is being said. You wanted to know if it damaged the car, it doesn't. Your call if you want to do it or not. I'd sooner have my brake lights on because I am slowing or stopping, rather than because I have my foot parked on the brake to coast down a hill at a desired speed. That way I reduce the chance of someone arse ending my car because they can't actually tell what I am doing. All personal preference in the end I guess.
  17. Some bizarre contraptions for sure! I posted before on here re: HUD's. I was converted when I saw one in action on an M5, but never found an aftermarket one that really hit the mark. Will be interesting to see things progress (I see the one in the mx5 pics above)
  18. I have to say, I highly doubt your summer tyres would've coped with that ice. The winter tyres make that look deceptively easy.
  19. Just fitted winter tyres to my GS430, hopefully they will help me get around where my GS's have failed in previous years.
  20. Crikey, never seen that kind of damage to those arms, wonder what happened there?
  21. Welcome to LOC Nice plans for the motor, keep us updated.
