  1. If the lights dim, then as Dave says, it would tend to suggest a problem with the starter still (as power is being drawn).
  2. Sometimes cheap code readers can trigger those lights to come on. They can be reset by shorting two pins in the OBD connector. I can't remember the pins off the top of my head, but do have a print out in my code reader case which I can grab if you need the pins.
  3. Yeah, I've bought parts from the states and China/Japan/Taiwan. OK if you are not in a rush, but sometimes Lexus/Toyota are the best option for speed.
  4. In my 96 GS300 Sport, I got pretty much what has already been said. 20'ish around town, 32'ish on a steady motorway run. Tank is meant to be 80 litres, so an empty to brim will set you back in excess of 100 quid.
  5. Which sensor did you change (location) and which one did they also check? There are four altogether on the GS430, maybe the wrong one has been changed??
  6. yea didnt get much response when it was up for sale. i am still trying to sell it but not getting much response. are you asking about selling my car or just exhaust ? Just the exhaust mate, I'm happy with the GS430 Sport I have, but think your exhaust looks the business.
  7. Looking good mate. Was there not much interest when it was up for sale? The exhaust looks great, fancy selling it?
  8. If it is a mk1 GS300, the amp is in the boot under the CD multichanger. Easy to change out and doesn't have to be linked to the ecu or headunit. If it is a mk2 GS300, the amp is next to the glove box and just needs the glove box removing and the under dash trim. Again, an easy job to do and no tie in to the ecu. There are some details on aftermarket installs in my signature block below, not the easiest thing to do, but not too bad.
  9. No idea. I wasn't specifically referring to the one on the IS220D that you pictured, just the general "Winter Pack" options offered on some cars. It could even be that it comes on with the ignition to speed up warm up rather than pre-heating, a Lexus service centre should be able to confirm how it works and what is configurable if anything.
  10. As far as I am aware it is an engine pre-heater commonly available as part of a "Winter Pack" on a car. You can normally program them to come on at specific times to warm the car up before you start it on cold mornings.
  11. Love it when someone comes on with a smart ar*e comment and doesn't answer it either.
  12. Yes, the mk1 GS300 (JZS147) is non-interference.
  13. As Kev mentions, the hand/park brake lamp also doubles up as a fluid level warning lamp. When you say the boot won't lock, do you mean it doesn't latch?
  14. Isn't VIP'ing it meant to mean big fat wheels, stretch tyres, slammed, curtains in the window, bling etc?
  15. Must admit, out of all the sound clips I've heard, the tanabe exhausts always sound good, regardless of Lexus model. I'd love one for my GS430 Sport, just too pricey over here.
  16. Looks great :) Have you thought about de-tango'ing the front indicators and clear side repeaters? Would clean up the lines even more.
  17. I personally wouldnt T-cut and polish it, not unless you want a really neat shiny little patch of bodywork around the new badge. Ok if you plan to do the whole thing at the same time, but if the paint is already in need of some TLC like you say, the patch would stick out like a turd on a bowling green in the mean time.
  18. Keep going, I'm sure you will manage to convince the seller that they need to pay you to take it away with all the faults it has. Especially if you let them know you stalked them already, you will scare the sh*t out of them and they may even hand over all their worldly goods to boot.
  19. Is the red security light out once the key is inserted? Sounds like the immobiliser has maybe kicked in. Did the battery go flat needing a jump? Maybe try leaving the ignition switched on (not started) for 10 minutes. Remove key and retry. Other than that, check fuel level and fuses next.
  20. The security stuff must be ok as it would turnover but refuse to start if the immobiliser was triggered. I would be inclined to argree with cullers and that it would tend to suggest the battery is not charging properly. Either the battery is goosed or the alternator? Any warning lights staying on once started?

  22. I was posting these pics on my own forum and thought I would share on here just in case there is anyone who is into salt water aquariums here. These are some of the inhabitants in my 90 gallon Reef(plus some extra capacity in the sump). I can give more details on the setup if anyone would like to know. Being a reef, there are lots of corals in there too. 23. From what I remember, I used 5w30 part synthetic on mine when I had it. I can check the bottle later when I get home.
