  1. If the mounts are gone, the wobble at idle may be cleared up with those. No drain on the TC as far as I know. I think the process for the ATF change is something like: GB pan drain and off to change filter. Refit Fill fluid to mark. Undo cooler pipe and run engine to pump 1 ltr to a container. Top up fluid. repeat the cooler pipe off and 1 ltr container/topup etc until the ATF comes out clean and therefore cleared out the TC etc. No idea on the winder mechanism mate, sounds like the cable has slipped or stripped its teeth (assuming it has teeth - never taken one apart).
  2. Probably, but only because the prices were quoated as cat back. Hadn't really thought about the y-piece and back, which might save a few quid, so worth thinking about.
  3. In all honesty mate, give that front section some taps with a hammer, if it is solid (they normally are to be fair), then I would save a few quid and leave it be.
  4. I'm just trying to picture what they mean with all the cats that are being talked about. The front exhaust pipe section doesn't have a cat in it from what I remember, only a silencer. The post cat 02 sensor is the one doing the readings after the cats, which is the one you can see in the diagram above (the other two sensors are in the manifold/downpipes which merge before the cat at the front, and then joint to the front exhaust pipe section in the pic. Therefore the second price is not a cat back system, only the first price is. £700 seems quite a high price for a cat back custom system as I know they are available elsewhere for between £300-£400. But it does depend of course how far away these other places are.
  5. Welcome to LOC. Congrats on the new car, and must admit a very brave buy with so many known issues. The mounts should be available from breakers, I've never known anyone need them before, so they shouldn't be that rare from a breaker. I'm not aware of any sensors in the seats to manage airbags, so if the airbag lamp is on, then I would suspect there is something more drastic going on. The fault codes are pullable as described in the link. Siezed calipers is a common issue on most older Lexus models. They will come and go, and generally be a bit of a pain unless you overhaul the calipers and slide pins. A company called BigRed do the calipers ata very decent price, I think my two rears including slide pins cost £50 for the pair when I got them (a few years ago mind you). Any reason for thinking the MAF needs to go? Aircon will need recharging if it isn't blowing cold, but until it is recharged, you won't know if there are any major leaks (generally it will only need to be redone if it leaked out - unless someone inadvertantly let it out of course which would be unlikely). The OD light flashing does indicate a fault, not sure of vibrations causing a fault to register, but I guess that is possible if the mounts are that far gone. Good luck with getting it sorted, I can't see it being a terrifically cheap unfortunately.
  6. That is Ghosty's old GS430 off here, he has posted the link a couple of times incase someone was after one. Apparently the seller relisted it under a different username when it didn't sell the first time round.
  7. Best bet is to search youtube for vid clips of the GS300 with different after market exhausts with different levels. There are a couple of clips from someone on here that has recently done theirs. A forum search might turn up their post. they have quite a distinct sound being a straight six, so make sure you find the gs300 clips and not the gs400 or gs430. I would probably go mid sport personally. I'm planning to do the same on my GS430 this year, with a mid level sound to get the V8 grunt.
  8. The plank and leggit is a great location and as mentioned, plenty of hotels pretty close, especially due to its close proximity to East Midlands airport. What with the pub grub, big car park and things like wacky warehouse to keep the youngsters happy, it is a hard location to beat. Just a shame it is too far away for me these days.
  9. Unfortunately, on the mk1 GS300, it is a right pig to do. I used lots of extension bars, wobble bars and U/J's to go right past the gearbox from the propshaft end to get it off when I did the overhaul tutorial. Not as bad as the V8 GS's or LS's, but much simpler on the mk2 GS300.
  10. Funny how things/tastes change, a few years back a member on here used to sell these for the IS and they sold like hot cakes for a while.
  11. Maybe the overload in the battery has cooked that as well, might be worth hooking up another one just briefly to check that as well.
  12. It could well be the starter sticking on, so I would start in that area. There is a tutorial in my sig for overhauling the starter, doesn't cover the removal of the starter though.
  13. Gen 2 GS's don't have electric pad wear indicators, only the metal spring clips that scrape the disk and make a racket when they get too low.
  14. Which bulbs do you mean mate? Headlamps should be factory hids on all sport models I believe. If yours hasn't got hids, then they will be HB4/9006 dips, HB3/9005 mains.
  15. It is also the brake fluid level warning lamp. For the bonnet, check the lever fully returns when you pop the bonnet, other than that, I would check and grease the catches.
  16. I use hydrogen peroxide to nuetralise potassium permanganete when I treat my pond, never had any issues with the hydrogen peroxide, although I would wear gloves when using it just to be on the safe side.
  17. For me personally. I tend to go with lowering (not slamming though) and wheels first. After that, it depends on the car. For both gen2 GS's. I've done rear lights, roof spoiler, side repeaters. They come factory fit with auto dimming rear view mirror and photochromic side mirrors, so not much else to do gadget wise. I did swap out the stereo gear in both the mk1 and mk2 GS30's, and ppan to do the same with the GS430 but it isn't quite as straight forward with the factory satnav stuff. On my old E36 325 Coupe, there were more retro fits available, so did stuff like heated washer nozzles (still have those so may look at fitting them to the 430). Auto dim rearview, electric rear quarter windows (the best retro fit available for the coupe IMO) Never really been into engine mods that much.
  18. I went for black calipers with white writing/logo on my GS.
  19. Plenty going on with it so far. Not all to my taste, but that's what modding is all about, so thumbs up from me :)
