  1. Yup, the mk2 vvti is interference. I had a cam sprocket come adrift on my mk1 with no ill effects, wouldn't be the same on the mk2 GS.
  2. Yeah, it is a couple of these parts (one bit out of each pic still, still joined together)
  3. It normally does this when it thinks something is open. Confirm all doors/boot/bonnet are shut ok.
  4. That would be pretty terminal. Unfortunately, unlike the mk1 GS non-interference engine, the mk2 vvti engine is not, so valves would've most definately been clattered by the pistons. I would've expected Niall to mention of some brief, but pretty horrid sounds on cutout though :(
  5. You could try pushing the car (in gear) a couple of yards just in case the starter isn't engaging the flywheel properly in the position it is in?
  6. I have to say, I do agree with the OP's point around the LS owners. I rarely post in the LS section (even when I have something useful to add) because of the general air of dismisal for anything that comes from a non LS owner. As far a the moderation of content, the link posted nullyfies itself in the "After-posting Moderation" section (which is what happens on here) with this So I'm not sure who is going to get sued for what. You can remove infringing content, and removing a general post doesn't open you up to anything according to that link. i.e. why would anyone sue you for removing their "for sale" post when they have already signed up to the T&C's that explain what can and can't be done in that arena. Additionally, the forum T&C's clearly state that As with all T&C's, if you don't agree, don't sign up to them (i.e. participate in the forum).
  7. No, that's right Victor, but it should be ;)
  8. Gordon bennet, Lexmanic is one highly strung individual. Chill out dude, life is too short to get this wound up about an MOT PASS.
  9. Yeah, as far as I know they can't remove stuff. Not sure what you want VOSA to say/do. Why would a buyer think you are trying to hide things? You don't have any input to it, so how could you be hiding anything. Can you imagine how expensive and time consuming an MOT would become if they had to factor in taking all this stuff off (and the amount of complaints from all those that will claim their covers were damaged as a result). If it is a problem, remove the covers before taking it for its MOT.
  10. I assume he is passing comment to reflect that he may want to check certain things, but the covers prevent it. I.e. maybe he wanted to check fuel line corrosion, but couldn't due to the covers. It would be a very long list if he had to list every item he would like to check as advisories but was unable to check.
  11. Using a different pin i take it? i have read the back plate cannot be replaced...Yeah, can't remember what car it was from now but I think I just went to halfords with mine, and compared it to the ones they had and picked the one I could adapt. Or it might have even been the little key hole washers at halfords, and I put it behind the rusty backplate to hold the factory pin in. My memory is not so good these days ... lol
  12. Not digging the handbrake but for everything else you've done very well with it so far. Keep up the good work :)
  13. Sometimes the back plate corrodes and the key hole it fits into won't hold it any more. Happened on my old mk1 GS, I ended up using one off a different car that had a large keyway on it.
  14. Thanks. It is the TTE splitter, fitted to most of the mk2 GS "Sport" models. Thanks mate il check it out I need to do my research on these. What other differences is there? Mine is just the s :( but will be buying leathers.... Is there sport leathers different to normal? Anything else? Thanks mate There is nothing major that is different to be honest. The splitter, "Sport" decals on the rear quarter glass in the back doors, wheels (mine are the mk1 sport wheels, but the mk2's had their own style ones also), lowered all round by 25mm (someone had put stock springs on mine so I needed to relower it - which Is why I used GMax springs), I think Xenon headlamps where standard ont he Sports, and optional on all other models, and I think depending on interior colour, there was the black walnut trim. I think that is it for the factory differences. Other changes I have done to mine are all fairly subtle, carbon eyebrows, LED rear light cluster, LED rear fogs, Rear screen spoiler, smoked side repeaters, nothing major. The Anthracite colour of the wheels are the winter set, the summer rubber are on the same style wheels, but in the bright sparkle silver.

  16. I could easy squeeze a bigger profile in the arch cap is monumental haha the rears have a 245/40/18 profile on which seems to be fine but the fronts are on 225/40/18 I think it needs knocking up to a 45 profile been a skinnier tire. And the gmax springs do look ok but the arch gap... Wow I was hoping for more like a 35/40mm drop but I can't seem to find anything on that level. I reckon with bigger tires on I might change my mind about the drop 245/40/18 is the right size, so the 225 are too small on the profile, 245/45 would be closer (but slightly larger).I can post some pics up of mine with the GMAX springs so you can get an idea of the ride height. I don't have any pics to hand right now though. I'd say they are pretty spot to be honest, my front bumper is far to prone to catching stuff already without going any lower. Great I'd appreciate the pics :D thanks! What wheel size are you running? A few pics to show the ride height with the GMax springs.
  17. Wide boy :0 lol... I run the mk1 Sport wheels on mine with the wider 10" rears.
  18. Shouldn't be too monstrous a job I wouldn't think. You just need to plan out where they would fix to and how long/short the stroke needs to be to function as required. Places like Maplin and RS do general DIY struts I think, which come pre-gassed and you let out the gas to get the desired operating pressure. Only gotcha is that once the gas is out, there is no going back, so let it out in small stages to fine tune.
  19. Sorry mate, I know yours is a mk1, I was replying to Niall about his question.Steve's advice re: sgs-engineering is the best option for your mk1 struts, they are a good company.
  20. 245/40/18's on the front, 275/35/18 on the rear.
  21. The mk2 doesn't have gas struts on the boot, it has torsion bars. They are adjustable, but not enough to fully open the boot. You would need to do a DIY job to fit gas ones to the mk2.
