  1. You'll probably get more responses creating a new thread in the correct forum that would suit a power steering question. Most people won't be looking at this thread unless they are interested in forced induction on an IS.
  2. Either of those grades should be fine I think, as long as it conforms to the GL-5 standard, as specified in the service manuals. I don't have the manuals at work to check if it mentions the viscosities.
  3. On the GS, the CIG fuse covers more than one thing (the other lighter socket for instance) so if the other one still works, it is probably the socket fuse link. Again, on the GS, it also powers the display for the clock, if that is off, then the CIG fuse would more than likely be culprit. The LS may be different, but they tend to follow similar principles. Anyone confirm that who has LS wiring diagrams?
  4. Transmission fluid is definitely the right stuff, no idea on the diff oil though (can't see the pic well enough on my iPhone to read the bottle)
  5. As far as I know, it isn't illegal to tint the fronts, but there are legal limits for the amount of tint. From memory, the front windscreen must allow at least 75% of light through, side front windows must let at least 70% of light through, and no limits for the rear windows.
  6. Might be worth getting it checked for binding/sticking brakes as well.
  7. very impressive work. Any bits that haven't come out as well as you'd hoped (from a wrinkle free finish perspective)?
  8. Welcome to LOC B) Nice car, not seen chrome arches used before.
  9. Just checked the log book for the '99 GS300 Sport and the 2001 GS430 Sport, both say it is the "GS300 Sport" and "GS430 Sport" model respectively. If yours says "GS300 SE", then maybe it is an SE with some of the sport bits added
  10. Welcome to LOC. The sport also has a different grill, HID headlamps as standard (option on other models). It isn't a lip boot spoiler on the sport though, it is a proper spoiler. I'll check my log book later to see if mine mentions "Sport" on it. As far as I know, it was a genuine model for the mk2, rather than a dealer retrofit which is what the mk1 Sport models effectively were.
  11. Comgrats on the pircjase B) If it is a full Lexus history, they should be able to tell you of the cam belt has been done. There is normally a sticker on the cam cover with the mileage written on it when it was last changed. If it hasn't been changed, I would get it done pretty soon. Unlike the mk1 gs300, the mk2 has an interference engine, so valves will hit pistons if the belt snaps. You can pop the top front cam cover off pretty easily to check its condition.
  12. Try contacting the user "Monster-Mat" on here, he should be able to give some good pointers around the conversion and who did the work on his (I believe it was TDI).
  13. Bank 1 sensor 2 is the second one on the manifold system towards the front of the engine. i.e. there is one manifold that comes from the front 3 cylinders, and the second one does the back three cyclinders. There is an O2 sensor near the top of the 1st manifold (bank 1 sensor 1), and a second one further down the manifold towards the ground (bank 1 sensor 2). On the second manifold towards the back of the engine, the top sensor is bank 2 sensor 1, and bank 2 sensor 2 is under the car under the drivers seat area. Might be worth checking the MAF and giving it a bit of a clean.
  14. I find the sound/bass lacking on mine too, there is a hidden menu somewhere to change lots of the settings, but I can't get the menu to come up on mine :(
  15. 76 should be "shift Solenoid "C" Electrical Malfunction (No. 3 Solenoid Valve)"
  16. That may be because the power to the booster is then off, and therefore the light goes off (just guessing at that).
  17. I'm not an IS owner, but as far as I know they all have it (TRC)
  18. Yes, it should come on during its self check mode, and then go off.
  19. I would assume so mate, I'd expect it to meet the standard they specify (the one I mentioned above).
