  1. Those centre caps are a rare item to find now. They do crop up on eBay from time to time though, but go for quite high money.
  2. Osram nightbreakers are very good too, upgraded my Corrado bulbs to them and they made a huge difference.
  3. Yeah, they are mk2 Sport wheels :) They should only have 245's all round, but I wouldn't worry about changing the other two unless they look way off on the rims. Did they come with the centre caps?
  4. Is the ABS light on all the time? If not, then there won't be a fault with the sensor, but checking for any crud on the end of the sensor might still be worth a look just in case it is triggering a false reading. You can read the fault codes (current and stored) without a reader for the EML light and the ABS light (counting the flashes of the lamps) by using a shorting wire and the diagnostic socket. Have you had the battery checked out?
  5. What condition is the battery in, I used to get similar problems when my battery was on its way out too.
  6. Looks good mate. Not sure I would have 275's on the rear wheels myself, they were 10" rims that had that size tyre on the mk1 (I use the mk1 Sport wheels on my mk2). They should be 245 all round on the mk2 wheels. I guess it depends how well they fit 8.5 rims in the end though.
  7. There is more than likely something else going on instead of, or as well as. The GS's don't have any issues with driving with an abs fault, so limp mode is being triggered by something else engine related. As lexmanic says, check connections (and get the battery checked out as well). I'd also get the codes read for the engine, the EML light doesn't come on for abs sensor faults, ABS and TRC/VSC ones do.
  8. good choice B) If they are GS Sport wheels, either mk1 or mk2, they will fit no problem. You'll probably find you'll want to drop the ride height a little soon enough also :)
  9. How/where were they seeing bubbling in the brake fluid? The master cyclinder is combined with a hydraulic brake booster. In pre-2000 cars, these were prone to failure (indicated by a constant buzzer sound), but not heard of a failure on later models and your 2001 model should have the larger uprated version of the booster. The other stuff is quite common on older Lexus' in general, not just the GS. Seized calipers and/or slide pins is very common.
  10. It would be handy to be able to use LOC on the tapatalk network.
  11. Welcome to LOC :) Unfortunately, you are going to have a tricky job finding anything over here for the mk1 (jzs147). As far as I know, they are no longer available from the dealers so you have to go after market. When I got my lowering springs a few years back now, they were made by RS*R, I got them imported by a company called "Envy performance". Took a long time to arrive as they had to come in by boat as air freight was way to expensive. The company have since ceased trading though. There seem to be plenty of options in the US, so you may be able to get some from there (ebay.com rather than ebay.co.uk). Good luck.
  12. I used a straightened out paper clip to bridge the pins on the obd connector. You should be able to push it in about a cm at least to ensure a good connection. In theory, it should be possible to do it from the diagnostic socket in the engine bay as long as you bridge the same pins. If mine ever come on again, I'll try it to confirm, but obviously I can't do that without the lights on.
  13. Lithium soap grease is the official grease as per the service manuals. Others have had success with different greases though.
  14. Yeah, they are not a cheap wheel to get hold of. There is a full set on eBay at the moment, £475.
  15. None taken :) maybe someone else has managed to get the menu to come up? I'll try and find the link to the procedure I was trying later.
  16. Press the Audio button and then the ASL button on the screen. That's not a hidden menu, that's the standard menu. There is a hidden one that allows you to change the crossovers and a whole load of sound thresholds. Involves turning ignition on and off while holding certain button combos. I could never get the menu to come up though, even doing the button presses :(
  17. You'll have to let us know what price the overhaul kits are when you get them? They seem to be around £30 for just a full seal/boot kit (including slide pin boots and bush), but that's without pistons. Just the piston seals is about £15 I think. BiggRed are good, got a pair of refurbed rear calipers from them for my old mk1 GS.
  18. I agree with a lot of the above, full on black is not my cup of tea. Anthracite looks great though. I have anthracite for my winter wheels on my GS430 Sport, and I actually prefer them to the summer silver sparkle wheels.
  19. As transporter mentioned, you need to establish if it is the slide pins or calipers at fault, or both. Otherwise you could spend a good deal of money and not fix the issues. I got a pair of refurbed calipers for my gs430 for under a hundred quid, so there are probably cheaper options out there for you too. I used to free mine up every few months, but for £100, it was worth doing the full swap. If they only last 5 years I'd be happy with that.
  20. I've used ones from this seller, worked fine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-GS300-JZS160-97-05-LS400-UCF20-94-POST-LAMBDA-OXYGEN-O2-SENSOR-89465-33120-/180709339797?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a131db295
  21. I had a double din install in my old GS300 Sport but that wasn't factory Nav. I still have all the gear ready to go into my GS430 Sport but still waiting to find a second hand climate control unit cheap enough, to test if it is a plug and play change back to non Nav controls. I'm not up for spending 100's as a test, so the search continues :(
