  1. Standard ones are pretty good, but it does also depend a lot on how you drive and where. It isn't necessarily about a one time heavy braking session. If you live somewhere with lots of dual carriage way with roundabouts for instance, and drive in a "spirited" fashion accelerating up hard, braking hard for the next roundabout, the standard brakes will soon fade from the heat build up in the pads and discs. Upgraded discs (and pads - they are just as important) definitely improve the standard setup. Drilled and grooved are not as smooth/quiet as standard discs when you have been giving it some beans though.
  2. You go there with the car and they make it up there and then. It is a custom system to fit your car, built by appointment. Price was about £400 (GS430 rather than GS300, but price almost the same) when I was enquiring last April time. Their current Adverts with prices are on eBay. Very good value, especially if you are local. Will be booking in this April for sure before my bonus gets spent elsewhere!
  3. Best to call them, but when I spoke to them they need the car for something like 3-4 hrs. You can wait or go somewhere for a few hours and go back to collect. You tell them on the day what sound level and style of exit pipe you want.
  4. Most later lexus, if you hold the unlock button down on the fob, the windows will go down. Likewise, hold the lock button on the fob and any open windows will close. You probably inadvertently pressed the button in your pocket on loose change or other keys. It'll be in the manual.
  5. The switch goes through the body ecu and then via a relay (the relay is powered through the 10amp "Tail" fuse). The body ecu deals with the telltale lamp on the dash. Do the front fogs work? They also go through the body ecu and another relay (again powered through the "Tail" fuse).
  6. Try tightening up the fuel filler cap and see if that sorts it. Quite a common gotcha which is hopefully a quick and cheap fix for you :)
  7. Looks like the shiftlock cover. If all power fails (or in the event of breakdown etc), it is the override to allow you to move the selector/gearbox out of park. I beleive is is a cover that comes off, with a button underneath.
  8. On my GS, If you press and hold the unlock button, all windows will go down (likewise, press and hold lock, all open windows will close). Maybe the ISF has a similar feature and loose change or other keys pressed the buttons in your pocket?
  9. Interesting idea. Just out of interest, what is the point of doing it there? Easier fabrication?
  10. It will be easier to give them a call mate, as they try and discuss the options available, which is too long winded through messages.
  11. Yeah, that is where I contacted them. They responded no problem when trying to arrange an appointment last year. I'm sure there are a couple of members on here who have their systems.
  12. Only heard good things about them. Going to make a trip up there in April to get a system made up for my GS430.
  13. I think they are part number 90467-07076-C0, not a lot from Lexus/Toyota :)
  14. Speedo inaccuracies tend to be around 10% (it probably gets even worse the faster you go), therefore 160 would be roughly 144, close enough to 143 for most folk. Given head winds, tail winds, inclines, declines, tyre pressures, road surface, factory optional extras, after market wheels and unsprung weight, etc, etc, all these variables can give a tad more or a lot less top speed.
  15. Where abouts are you located? I have a couple of different ones you can try out to see if they work before grabbing one from eBay.
  16. Yeah, quite well publicised, many 4x4s with large ground clearances don't need jacking up to get to such items.
  17. Not aware of any one selling any coil overs, I'd have grabbed them myself... lol. Brake upgrades for a decent set is £1k-£1.5k unfortunately, not sure what can be cobbled together off a different car.
  18. Any water down the side compartments (where the CD unit is etc). There is a pipe on the bottom of the electric aerial that can drip water in there if it has come adrift,. Or the boot lid seal? Can't remember off the top of my head if the sunroof drains run past that area of the boot.
  19. Isn't the main cooling fan a viscous coupled one on the mk1 GS? In which case it probably will spin up. Any other fans will be for the aircon, so make sure that is switched off if testing any other fans (been a long time since I've been under the bonnet of a mk1, so the memory is all a bit hazy).
  20. Would seem odd that they could damage the sensor doing pads and tyres, there should be no reason to touch anything near the sensor. I guess they may have clouted the cable or something freeing something up. A knackered sensor will trip abs and vsc error lights. Also worth getting the battery/alternator voltages checked, a low voltage can trigger all sorts of funnies on the electrics. When my alternator went on my mk1 GS, each sub-system failed in turn as the voltage levels dropped further and further. I believe there are two speed senders in the gear box, used for various things in the engine management and cruise control systems, so it is possible for some speed related items to fail while others still work.
