  1. I would say it would be if the car is otherwise sound. I take it you don't fancy tinkering your self to save on labour costs? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  2. Couldn't you replace the hydro setup with a standard 2jzgte waterpump and fit an electric fan? Should be relatively cheap to do.
  3. Good point. I changed the springs on my 2001 Sport to lower it (not sure if it was genuinely never lowered, or someone had it re-raised).
  4. Normally, if the alternator packs up during normal driving you start losing system gradually. i.e. the charge light comes on, then the check engine lights a short while later, then the abs warning light shortly after, etc. Caused as the charge left in the battery depletes, and the voltage levels for each system are no longer sufficient. This is accelerated if it is at night and your lights run things down quicker. With regard to the charge light, is it showing before starting the car and then goes out? (just in case the bulb is blown)
  5. as long as the whole of the white cable is removed (if it has snapped, there may be some left behind - the normal reason they play up) then you just feed it in as you power off the stereo (having a helper will make it easier). It should wind the white cable in before taking the antenna down. After that, just put the top nut back on and thats it. The replacement masts normally come with an instruction sheet as well anyway.
  6. When was the last belt change (date wise)? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  7. No direct experience from a day to basis as all my GS's have been sport models. However, I did test drive a standard mk2 GS300 for a mate, and whilst it was "softer", the sports are by no means harsh by comparison. The GS430 is a fantastic car.
  8. Unfortunately not. The GPS receiver isn't in there by default, and neither is the navigation computer and disc unit which is in the boot. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  9. Welcome to LOC Good choice of model B)
  10. No idea on length, but the sport was a 25mm drop over standard. The mk1 springs I bought were made by RS*R Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  11. Yup, "sport" had lowered suspension. Can't see what year your GS is on the mobile app, but mk1 lowered springs are tricky to come by, I got mine from "Envy Performance" a few years back, but I don't think they trade anymore. My mk2 ones I got from eBay, made by G-Max, been very good. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  12. Yeah, that is a mk2 Sport wheel. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  13. Welcome to LOC Nice motor B) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  14. What Colin said, three in total. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  15. That's is normal. Something to do with the breather pipe drawing off from one bank and causing the different colour from the other side. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  16. Welcome to LOC. Bargain for the money B) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  17. It was around the £170 from what I remember. Not two part though, it was the sensor complete with a long lead and mounting brackets. I'll sort the pics out a bit later. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  18. I have replaced a front sensor on my GS430. Won't be exactly the same bit probably close enough. I can post some pics up later this afternoon if it would help? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  19. Ah, mine was a '96, so the later cars had separate keys and fobs. I'd assumed a combined unit would be a step forward from separates. In that case, Maybe the early setup didn't have transponder keys then. May be worth getting a non transponder blank cut and see if it still fires the old girl up. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  20. Yeah, ditto, two gas struts right towards the back of the engine bay. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  21. What year is yours? I think my mk1 had a separate alarm fob from the key. The key had a transponder in it for the immobiliser. They did have different keys, one of which was a valet key that would not unlock the glovebox or boot (including the release inside the car if the button had been pressed in). Things are a little hazy as it has been a while since I had mine. If you have the master key (the black one) I think a transponder key can be programmed from it. Maybe the last mk1 had a different key/fob arrangement. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  22. Also check the arb bushes while you are looking at the drop links. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
