  1. Was the oil actually changed or just what was already in the second hand box used (and maybe topped up). What colour is the fluid. The kick down on my GS430 is pretty slow as well, I plan to do a complete refresh of fluid soon to see if that freshens the gearbox feel up a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  2. Normally someone will do that to mask warning lights when selling a car or MOT'ing a car. As that row also has vsc off, abs, vsc, headlamps levelling and bulb failure indicators, are any other lights on or flashing? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  3. Must admit, like Colin, I don't really understand. You mean all other cars you've had, when lights are set to auto, they stay on when you remove the key and open the door? How long for? That sounds really odd, other than the follow me home home thing you already mention. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  4. Seems odd that Sewell is showing the same part numbers, the part numbers I've got are not the same. From what I remember the struts are different on the gen 1 and 2 cars, so I don't think they are interchangeable (I've changed the springs on my gen 1 and 2 cars but the gen 1 was a while ago now). Gen 1 48131 SPRING, FRONT COIL, RH 48131-30870 (03/1993 - 07/1995) 1 € 99.41 48131-30871 (08/1995 - 07/1997) 1 € 94.42 48132 SPRING, FRONT COIL, LH 48131-30880 (03/1993 - 07/1995) 1 € 99.41 48131-30881 (08/1995 - 07/1997) 1 € 94.42 48231A SPRING, COIL, REAR RH 48231-30760 (03/1993 - 07/1995) 1 € 92.51 48231-3A010 (08/1995 - 07/1997) 1 € 107.88 48231B SPRING, COIL, REAR LH 48231-30760 (03/1993 - 07/1995) 1 € 92.51 48231-3A010 (08/1995 - 07/1997) 1 € 107.88 Gen 2 48131 SPRING, FRONT COIL, RH 48131-3A260 L=343.0 1 € 95.25 48131-3A440 1 € 107.97 48132 SPRING, FRONT COIL, LH 48131-3A260 L=343.0 1 € 95.25 48131-3A440 1 € 107.97 48231A SPRING, COIL, REAR RH 48231-3A080 (08/1997 - 06/2000) 1 € 102.16 48231-3A280 (07/2000 - 12/2001) 1 € 109.57 48231B SPRING, COIL, REAR LH 48231-3A080 (08/1997 - 06/2000) 1 € 102.16 48231-3A280 (07/2000 - 12/2001) 1 € 109.57
  5. Pre 2001 models are not odbii compliant which is why the reader won't work unfortunately. You should be able to read the codes by using a paperclip and counting the flashes of the abs light. I can't locate the details on my iPhone, but will try and find them when I get on my laptop. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  6. White lights are so that you can tell the car will be moving towards you. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  7. Interesting that some of those are present on second gen GS's and they subsequently removed them for the third gens. Makes no sense.
  8. I've got an Admiral multi car policy too, it has been very good. I have my GS430 Sport and VW Corrado VR6 (both declared modified) for £380 in total, fully comp. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  9. The belt has a spring loaded tensioner so can't be over tightened. It should be all good from that perspective. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  10. May be worth trying a reset first if the system is the same as the mk2 GS's. Some info in this link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/76133-2004-gs300-vsc-and-vsc-off-lights-on/ Keep to the timings in the link, if you don't give it long enough, it won't reset. And give it a few goes if at first it doesn't work. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  11. Good result B) If it is the trailing link arm you had changed, then yeah, not a nice job as the bolt goes in from the top (so subframe has to be dropped slightly). Hopefully nowt major with the power steering. If it goes down again, then check it out fully. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  12. Never had any issues with the ones I had in my old mk1 GS. MOT was always fine. The GS did have projector headlights though, which seem to e slightly better for hid patterns than reflector headlights. It was the cheap led sidelights that used to get questioned more, but once I swapped to the Philips 6000k LEDs, they matched the hid colour perfectly (looked white instead of blue) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  13. That price seems very high to me, unless there has been a sudden upturn in their prices. You should easily get a post facelift car for that kind of money, "Sport" models being the best looking (IMO). If it is a Lexus service history, any Lexus dealer should be able to confirm the history. The abs error you mention sounds like the brake booster issue suffered on early (pre facelift) models. £2k bill from the dealers to fix, around £350-£500 for a used late booster if DIY'ing. Anyone should be able to view the classifieds. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  14. Good stuff from Colin as usual. Having had both, I would definately go with the 430.
  15. I guess it depends if the GPS receiver is in all cars. I know the disc is built into the head unit on later cars, but not sure about the receiver. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  16. Might be worth checking the trailing arms on the front, they can have a weird effect when shot (especially noticeable at full lock). Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  17. Looks very nice in the pictures but seems steeply prices for a '98 car. Early cars could get the dreaded abs fault which is worth keeping in mind. Plus the usual that low mileage doesn't mean no up and coming issues (perished bushes rather than worn out, that kind of thing). Slightly odd description, says one owner car but them says he bought it 2 years ago, which would make it 2 at least. Can't see why the private plate is worth much to most though, so not really worth paying extra for, just a nice to have to hide that it is one of the very early mk2's. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  18. I have used them before but can't remember if it was for my GS manuals or the VAG ones for the Corrado and Audi convertible. It did work though whichever it was. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  19. Haha, yeah, good screen name. I have a '94 VR6, makes a nice change from the GS every now and again :) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  20. If it wasn't for the pond, it would be a bun fight for me and the mrs about whose car shared the garage with the Corrado. I suspect I would lose and her focus would be in there though :( Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  21. Good info. I knew the mk1 "Sport" was a dealer modification once a normal GS hit uk shores, didn't realise the early mk2 "Sport" was the same. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  22. They are mk2 codes (JZS160 GS300, JZS161 Aristo V300). The mk1 Aristo shared the same one as the mk1 GS, JZS147. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  23. My GS sits on the drive as the Corrado gets the garage (and the pond filters and equipment take up the rest of the space) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
