  1. As Colin mentioned, the service manual states Lithium soap based Glycol grease. That ebay kit isn't bad for the parts though.
  2. Yeah, service manual says 75 inch*lbf, which is 6.25 ft*lbf, or 85 kgf*cm, or 8.5 Nm.
  3. To be fair, you are meant to transfer the plate off first. You are now at the mercy of the good will of the new owner, who is under no obligation to let you have it back (neither was the guy who bought it from you, it automatically becomes his with no obligation). No excuse for him to be that unhelpful though. No skin off his nose to let you know. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  4. I wouldn't worry about the drive up. If you are nervous about, just don't go mad with flooring it. Price sounds ok to me, they seem to be holding a better value since the fuel prices dropped (as have all the big engined cars) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  5. Lol... No, not mine. It was a member on here though. But as Colin mentions, there are tell tale signs as well. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  6. I'm pretty sure on the GS, the mirrors were run from the same sensor as the rear view mirror, when it dimmed, the sides did too (and would un-dim in reverse along with the rear view mirror). If someone has clattered the mirrors, they may have changed the glass for cheaper ones though (multiple hundreds of pounds for genuine items I believe) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  7. As per bookends post, the gauge doesn't use the float in the tank all the time, the ecu controls it the majority of the time with periodic corrections from the float. No idea why it needs to be so complicated other than it stops the deviations when cornering etc with sloshing around in the tank. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  8. Yeah, they were a limited edition thing. Although the GS430 pic you posted was actually a GS300 with 430 badges on. The badges are mentally expensive from Lexus from what I remember. I think you can get fakes from over the pond as they are more into VIP scene where the bling fits in. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  9. Welcome to LOC B) Good choice, the 430 Sport is great car, mine has been pretty bullet proof so far. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  10. Very nice B) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  11. Personally, I like it. It is clearly slammed for park ups only, so would be higher when on the move. Not everyone's cup of tea but the whole VIP scene never has been, on any car. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  12. Replied in your other post :) Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  13. Might be worth giving the sensors and pickup rings a bit of a blow out and clean. Could be something stuck in there upsetting the slow speed pulse counts. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  14. Was the torque converter swapped over when the gearbox was swapped? Does the prop shaft turn, if so, has the diff and rear axle been checked? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  15. I have a custom one on my GS430, love the sound Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  16. I can only assume different companies behave differently. My old mk1 Sport was reversed into in a car park. A helpful bystander left me the van details under my windscreen wipers. I informed my insurers and also the police. After the police interviewed the guy and decided to proceed no further (leaving the scene etc), no claim was eventually made (as I sold the car). On renewal, my premium was hiked up as in their exact words "statistically, if you have been hit once, you are more likely to be hit again". What a load of *****, they are robbing bartstewards. Anyway, after some heated phone calls, they subsequently removed the details from the file and dropped the renewal back down (I moved companies as a result anyway). I can therefore see both sides of the coin here, and you just need to go the route you are most comfortable with. If it were down to me, I would keep schtum though. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  17. Have you tried pm'ing him, last time I pm'ed him, he did reply. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  18. True, but to be fair, the lights stay on until you open the door. In extraordinary circumstances, using the light switch to keep them on doesn't seem so bad. A shop isn't one of those circumstances though, from my own perspective. Having said that, broken down I'd more than likely only want my side lights on. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  19. Ok, I get what you are saying, but never known it on any I've had. Can't see why you would want to leave the car unlocked while going in a shop to be honest, I'd always lock it anyway so it wouldn't be a benefit. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  20. Yeah, sorry, I was agreeing with you Colin, I get what you mean as that is what I'd expect, I was just saying I didn't get what they mean, "like Colin" doesn't. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  21. Give it another go and double check you do the intervals long enough, it sometimes doesn't clear for me 1st time. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  22. Probably worth trying a reset on those lights first (some code readers can trigger a yaw sensor error). Details in this link..... http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/76133-2004-gs300-vsc-and-vsc-off-lights-on/ Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
