Nothing major done to my GS430 Sport, just subtle stuff. Too expensive in the main, but I am looking at Supercharger and Turbo options at the moment rather than swapping to other marquee performance models (BMW M5, Merc CLS55). A bit of quandary really. Spend £5k-£6k on a £2k car, that later may sell for £2k, or buy a £10k-£12k ar that is worth £10-£12k later (less depreciation). The only draw to mod'ing the Lexus instead is exclusivity, but an expensive pill to swallow none the less.

Yeah, my GS430 Sport is whisper quiet with the set of winter wheels on too. Not found any summers that are anywhere near as quiet, so I just liev with it and don't notice it again after a few weeks.

Pre-facelift cars (2000) don't fully comply with odb2 so won't work on the readers. A shorting wire and counting flashes of the warning lights is the cheap DIY solution. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Interesting Dave, I find mine annoying on the 430, and use it all the time with the stick pretty much. I found the ect/pwr mode in the mk1 GS to adapt the box perfectly for me, and have been totally disappointed with the mk2's version. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Those centre caps are very rare nowadays unfortunately as they are no longer available at the dealers or manufacturers. They occasionally come up on eBay, I'm sure the last one I saw fetched nearly £100. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Does sound like the solenoid on the starter to me, quite a common issue on older starters. I have a link in my signature block on overhauling the starter/solenoid (although the tutorial is for a gs300, they are all the same design). As Colin mentions, worth checking the relay 1st, and the starter is in the V. If you are handy with a socket set and spanners, it is actually quite an easy job getting the inlet manifold off, albeit a bit fiddly. I had to take mine off to replace one of the knock sensors recently. Coolant doesn't need a complete drain down, just pop the thermostat housing off and that is enough. The inlet manifold to block gaskets are not reusable, neither is the throttle body gasket, so you may want to tee those up before hand if you don't want to gamble on reusing them.
