    I believe, the amp output is fed to the nav unit, and added to the nav output when appropriate. I can check the manual later to try and confirm, but I'm pretty sure the drivers speaker is routed via the boot. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

    Fingers crossed with the key, they are stupid money from the dealers for sure. The pain with the satnav from a bypass perspective is the drivers speaker is controlled from the satnav computer, which is in the boot. So no quick access point from the amp for that speaker, as it heads off to the boot so it can speak over the music. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

    That must be quite handy in these situations then :)Don't suppose you know if there is definitely a bypass cable available for the satnav models?     Welcome to LOC B) Sounds like a good motor you have found there. You will probably need to check what map updates are available first to see if it is actually worth it from the one you have. 2009 was the latest available for my 2001 GS430 Sport, so not particularly great. You should be able to check on the link below. http://www.lexus-mapupdates.eu/ I found iPod solutions a bit thin on the ground, especially for satnav models, so switched to after market stereo on my old Gen 1 and 2 GS300's.     Are you making up your own array of LEDs? I've converted my Corrado VR6 onto LED headlamp bulb (H4 bulbs) and they are great. Been trying to find a compact enough H3 solution for the main beams, but not found one yet. There are a lot on the market that are designed for Fog lamps, but I think more from a colour temp perspective than actual usefulness in fog. For those that like having the front fogs on all the time, so they match the HID bulb colour better. The whiter the light, the worse it performs in fog, so not something I'd looked at doing for the fog lamps. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

    I've got the lexus ones in my GS. One that has four points that hook it to the floor, the other goes across the front of the boot opening to put things in. They are great.

    The IS rear setup is the same as the gen 2 GS300/430. I did a guide for the rears if you check out this link http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/125-gs300-rear-brake-pad-disc-change/ Should give you the details you need about the pin and rattle clips.

    They are interchangeable, if you ever need to fix an early car, always buy the replacement from a later one.

    Welcome to LOC B) I'd be wary too, at £350-£500 for a replacement unit (make sure it is a post facelift one) plus labour, you'd have to get the car at a steal to be worth it. It is possible to read the codes using the diagnostic socket and a paperclip, and count the flashes of the abs light. I don't have the full details yo hand though. From what I recall, pumping the pedal should eventually sound the buzzer as the pressure drops away, so that should be a way of checking the buzzer is still connected.     Good choice. Had mine for a few years now and still love it. Not had any significant issues with mine. Suspension bushes go eventually, as they do on any car. Most awkward job, but still not that bad was changing one of the knock sensors. Means inlet manifold off. Standard maintenance is a doddle to DIY, brakes, oil etc, all easy enough. Aux belt when needed is a 10 minute job. MPG wise, it varies. 16'ish for pure round town short stuff each day to the station. 22 combined for longer town and country road running around at the weekend. Low 30-32 on a steady long distance cruise.

    eBay is a good place to start for the ball joints and aux belt. Ball joints are a failry easy job if you are a competent DIY'er. Aux belt is a doddle to do. There is a link in my signature block to a tutorial i did for the mk1 GS. Essentially the same for the mk2, but no fan to get in the way as it is electric on the mk2. for the power steering, I would make up a new one yourself from metal tubing, and join onto the existing pipework, much cheaper.
