  1. It isn't as sophisticated as it may sound to start with. There is an extra feed from the head unit that switches to 12V when the frequency is below 96 or on AM. If the frequency is above 96 (and not on AM) then it is at 0V. So there are only two length it switches between to make a closer match to the wavelengths being received. As with Shake, my aftermarket head unit doesn't have this extra feed so it can't do the change in length automatically. Hasn't made any difference to reception that I can notice though. It could always be faked with a switch if you wanted I guess.
  2. Has everything been connected back up? Sounds like something has not been reconnected, which is of course quite a vague answer Was anything else substituted during the change from the Supra that may not be as compatible as you first thought?
  3. I ban Johnboy for not just being a mod, but being a super one
  4. That's how it is for early IS models as well, later ones (which is what I assume the Sportscross is as it only came out after the facelift?) had the weird system with the double press for deadlocks and you could only disable the interior sensors from inside the car. Oh well, just goes to show that sometimes progress doesn't necessarily mean improvement :(
  5. It is still available? I though IPA had been banned to the public years ago for health and safety reasons
  6. WOW, sounds complicated. On my Mk1 GS, press the lock button on the remote once for all systems to arm, press lock again within 2 seconds and the interior detectors are disabled. The indicators do a quick flash for the 1st press, and a long flash on the second press to indicate that the sensors are off.
  7. Did you have the aircon on? If you come to a stop and the AC compressor is not running, if it then starts up the revs initially drop and thenincrease slightly and this would make the car shudder/move forward when it otherwise wouldn't. If you are in N the car shouldn't ever move anywhere no matter how high you rev the engine
  8. Good luck on the MOT mate, had mine a month or so back and it sailed through. Cheapest I could find was £418 with full no-claims, 6 points on my license and declared 30000 miles a year.
  9. What type of diagnostics socket is this? It is located in the drivers footwell on my '96 GS300. Is there a reader that can be plugged into it or is it just one that pins need to be connected together and then read the Check Engine light?
  10. I ban aztec for not seeing her online earlier
  11. Like I was trying to get at though, you need to do a brim to brim test to get any kind of accurate consumption figure. You might end up going another 100 miles before the light comes back on, if you get my drift?
  12. Did you actually get kwikfit to do it? No kwikfit will do it round by me, if they didn't supply it, they won't fit it. Even when they took a tyre off which they had supplied and I tried to get them to put it back on later, they refused.
  13. Your right foot must be so heavy! How do you manage to walk with it!!! I got 220 miles from a full tank (£65) and thought that was bad! Problem is, £40 wouldn't give him a full tank though. Without knowing how much was in it before putting the £40 we don't know how much he has used. Not sure how many litres a an IS fuel tank is but if it is 60-70 litres, then that is only about ½ a tank. So if he was almost empty, put £40 in and is now on a ¼, that would give say 280'ish to a tank assuming the £40 took him to just over ½ a tank when he put it in.
  14. I ban 2D for bringing a domestic in here
  15. I see quite a few IS's each day on the way to work, and nearly as many RX's. GS's and LS's seem to be the rarest ones of the bunch and I've only seen a couple of MK1 GS300 Sports in the 10 months I've had mine.
  16. I think I would go for yellow with your colour car.
  17. What u like 07739806350 Ta very much :)
  18. nice B) Liking the number plate
  19. Wheels look great B) Doing the calipers is easy mate. I used acrylic spray paint on mine (with chrome Lexus stickers) clicky. Smooth hammerite is fine too which is what I had used before when I had the calipers in bronze rather than black. I used clear laquer over the top of the stickers for some extra protection.
  20. I fitted the Parrot CK3100 Black Edition Handsfree kit in my car yesterday. What a great piece of kit, very impressed indeed with the quality of sound and performance. The stereo muting works perfectly and is so much better than my old nokia car kit when playing the phone through the car speakers instead of its own little speaker. Well worth the money for anyone wanting a bluetooth handsfree with caller display. The install is much easier with ISO connectors but luckily for me I had done all that when I was replacing the head unit so it is a real easy plug and play exercise. The mute relay module and main control box are hidden behind the carpet down the side of the center console.
  21. As well as admire cars, people can also do work on each others cars if there is owt anyone wants doing. I Fitted 2D's new front discs and pads at the last midland meet and Snowman was fitting led eyebrows on a couple of cars too. Awww carnt u make it u could leave your tyre with me & i could bring it back 2 u @ another meet Sorry i 4got we do stuff on cars 2 I am a maybe at the moment Trudi. All depends on what weekend I have the kids and what my other half is doing. I'll try and make it :) p.s. Do you have the number for the tyre place again please? I've lost it
  22. At that price it must be worth a shot I would've thought. There must be plenty of places to bolt a small bracket under the bonnet.
