  1. Did you call the guy in the link I posted on this thread? clicky
  2. Can somebody explain in simple terms what one of these ludicrously expensive random orbit car detailers can do that is different to any other random orbit sander/grinder. When I read the guff on various websites regarding the actual specs of the machines involved, there seems nothing on face value that distinguishes the two. So far I keep looking, but as I cannot find any specifics that prove one way or the other (I don't mean someone just saying something is good, I mean the actual technical specification of the item) I am kinda stuck. I'm not going to waste alot of money on an expensive one, and I'm not going to buy a cheap one incase it buggers up the car, so I end up doing neither
  3. If you can wait 'til next weekend I'll take the boot liner out on mine and take a look. Unfortunately the car is in the garage until at least Monday so I can't check it at the moment.
  4. as said in previous post in pays for itself in extra economy. What extra economy does it give?
  5. I have a K&N in my GS. Can't say I have noticed much difference in performance, but fuel economy improved by around 10% which was an unexpected bonus. Shop around (especially on ebay) and you could get yourself one for similar money to a bog standard one which will save money in the long run as they just need cleaning rather than replacing.
  6. I ban Dave for having the same name as one of my freeview channels
  7. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ill keep my fingers crossed Sorry, I'm a definate no goer now. I have no car until Monday at the earliest :tsktsk:
  8. No mate, I double checked the price I was given by the local place and they were happy that they had the job priced correctly. Unfortunately, their supplier sent the wrong oil seal so now I have a car in bits and have to wait for Lexus to get the part. No wheels for the weekend now :tsktsk:
  9. Bit iffy for me at the mo. Car is in getting the rear crank oil seal sorted, if it isn't finished today then I am stuffed anyway :(
  10. I know naff all about the engine but on face value of what I have read on here regarding the big pulley changes for the SC (and the self destructing internals) , I'm not sure I would risk the SC and NOS on the standard internals. One or the other, but not both.
  11. My GS is in the garage today having the rear crank oil seal done. If I get it back today then with any luck I will be able to pop along. Otherwise I will have no car for the weekend
  12. Don't forget the 'risto is an import too though. That normally hikes up the insurance a bit right from the off.
  13. I have this sub (well the CBRA10) in my GS300 and used it in my 3 series BM before that. No idea how they perform to the true audiophiles out there, but I love the performance of them myself. Well worth the money.
  14. My '92 BMW 325 Coupe had the same feature. If I'm honest, it was bloody annoying at times. Meant you couldn't see bugger all when stopped at traffic lights in heavy rain. Sometimes I think cars can be a tad too clever for their own good. We have a '97 328i sedan and thought it was an excellent feature, stops that annoying 'dry window' problem when stopped... it's funny I actually didn't actually figure out it did that until we had the car for about 5 years.. Yup, in drizzle it is a great feature. In heavy rain I found it pretty stupid as you couldn't override it unless you put the wipers on the fast setting.

    Ecu

I'm guessing that you can tell if your auto box is working?? If so, then even if it is the wrong ECU, it proves the car works with the wrong one as Terry said, or am I missing something? Even though the part number seems to indicate it is the right one anyway.
  16. Isn't the alarm sensing the fob? If you get in and get someone else to lock it from the fob it should work also??
  17. Unladen lorries very often lock back wheels up quite easily as there is no weight on the rear or trailer wheels.
  18. Fingers crossed that is all it is but........ I can't see it somehow. I'm guessing you have done this strip down before already yourself and it didn't sort it? (weren't you doing that at the last midland meet?) What I have found with my sticky calipers so far is that.... 1) if I retract the pistons all the way back in and bung it all back together it sorts the issue for a week or two. 2) If I replace the pads so that the caliper pistons are now working in a completely different position it will fix it until the pads wear back to the point the brakes were sticking before. 3) If I lube the pistons and retract and pump them back out a dozen times or so the problem is fixed for a couple of months or there abouts. It always comes back again :tsktsk: so I will have to do something more permanent at some point but for the sake of a ten minute job every couple of months I have just carried on freeing them up and re-lubing for the time being .
  19. Have you tried any different Lexus dealers? Sounds a bit dodgy that they are trying to sell you an entire wheel.
  20. Sorry to hear all that Mat. I got out 10 years ago for similar reasons, you won't look back once you have done it :winky:
  21. You haven't driven it properly yet so how can you say that already? hmm, lets hope it is more legendary than the diesel. Bit early to say that for a brand new model. Lets hope you follow up the first time it ends up back at Lexus ;) I'm assuming by those statements that you have you have owned an M3?? As the answer to above is yes, it is interesting you are slagging off what you have been at some point
  22. The number of dots increase with your post count :winky: Not sure what levels they are set up at on here though as far as when the next dot appears.
  23. I mounted my ballasts below the headlamps. Basically, take the indicator off and you will see one of the headlight mounting bolts underneath the indicator. Take that out and bend the top tab of the ballast bracket at 90 degrees. You can then slip the ballast (in the bracket) down behind the bumper and use the headlamp bolt you just removed to fix it in place. If you need a pic, let me know and I'll pop an indicator out and do a quick shot for you. I didn't need a battery harness, just plugged straight into the normal headlamp bulb harness and bobs your uncle.
