  1. Mine had Falken 452's on when I got it, was quite impressed with them and decent value for money. I am now running Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's as my preferred choice. Can't fault them.
  2. The Toyota dealers in Derby (next door to Lexus) wouldn't do a discount for me when I ordered from them
  3. Progress of sorts. The camber has been corrected on the front right so I get all green boxes for the front on the printout (bar the caster which they don't appear to be able to measure so is grey). The car has to go back again next Friday for the rear. The bolts and cams for the rear adjustments have seized and Lexus want to order some new ones to have on standby just in case any break while they swing on them to release them. There was me thinking getting the geo sorted would be a relatively pain free process
  4. It isn't a jealous rant or spam so come back down from up your own :tsktsk: . If you don't want everyones advice then make sure you put the caveat in at the beginning that you don't want anyone to answer who thinks you have nowt to moan about. My advice was to pay the tax bill and be happy. Just 'cos it aint what you want to hear, that's your problem. Life is too short to worry about losing a little wedge out of a big wedge
  5. Liking those a lot mate. Nice job B)
  6. The £50,000 savings will cover the £36,000 tax bill if you had to pay it straight up. I feel for ya buddy, must be really :tsktsk: to get £364,000 for nowt. Wish that kind of :tsktsk: would happen to me man, why try to beat the system, your only put pressure on yourselves and the uncle if you try to force him.. just eat the 36k tax bill stop being greedy and be happy that you got 364k for your uncles life. Thanks for the Sarcasm folks really helpful advice your giving to the above The House is run between myself and Uncle, he pays the rates and I pay all the bills and costs of the house. | have lived at the house all my life from Day 1, carrying out any maintenance and repairs to the house when needed. The Savings if he has any will pay for the Tax but would be nicer saved for the future, I am not getting any money or the house for nowt, my Grandfather put his life into looking after the house and ensuring the security of myself. Further its not about beating any system, and I don't intend to see 36k go to the Tax Man when its there to secure my financial future for the family I plan to have one day. Yes it seems its all on a plate, but my family and myself have worked hard for it. Rant Over Back on topic, it looks like if I get married this will increase the Estate to £624,000. Happy Days it seems as I'm in the wedding plans Process. Thanks to all that gave USEFUL Advice ;) Now you are off your soap box, it aint your house (it is owned by your uncle) and it aint your savings (it is your uncles). So you are getting plenty for nowt Grandad working for it or not, you still stand to gain a :tsktsk: load of equity and money which you didn't have to outlay in the first place. Paying the bills don't mean diddly, we all have to do that (including a mortgage) and don't get a third of a million for the privilage at the end off it. Be happy you are getting what you are getting, a lot of people will never get that kind of leg up in life. The tax is a small price to pay IMO :winky:

  8. Funnily enough, I asked a question a while back regarding this but I don't think anyone had ever tested it. I'd wondered how much the Mk1 GS300 18" Sport alloys (10" wide ones on the rear) effected accelleration compared to the standard 17" rims. It might explain why initial pickup off the line seemed a tad dull.
  9. The garage is called Westend Motors in Loughborough, Leicestershire. I assume (although don't quote me on it), that the convertor is bolted to the flywheel and there is a seal between the gearbox output shaft and the the torque convertor. I'm guessing it was this seal that has gone and they just replace it easily once the gearbox has been removed.
  10. Not at all.... The number in wim web contacts page is direct to me, feel free to give this to them. Nice one Tony. Much appreciated. If they still don't get it right, I will be booked in to you as soon as pos and I'll bring them with me
  11. The car is booked back in for this Friday to have the job done again. I will print the workshop manual pages that deal with the geo adjustments and leave them with the car for the people to use. Do you mind if I leave a WIM number with them too if they need to use it?
  12. Terry, Can this be done via the socket in the drivers foot well ( the one in this thread clicky ) and do you know if there is a plug available from Lexus to fit it?
  13. Do you mean Xenon bulbs or a HID kit? I have a 6000K HID kit fitted at the moment and used an ebay seller called allgoods99. I did also run Xenon "white" bulbs before that from an ebay seller called aceparts_uk, the xenons looked a lot better than standard bulbs (and were pretty cheap - £14 for dip/main/sidelights) but are nowhere near the performance of the HIDs. I would definately go for the HID's if I were you :winky:
  14. This is the thread with details of what I did to replace the head unit in mine Clicky Hope it helps
  15. Sort of. The Sport model is 25mm lower over standard. The previous owner put non-sport springs on so it was raised back up. I put springs on (which are 25mm drop as far as I was told) so it should be back to where the Sport model should be. Is it looking like that is not the case then? Are the tolerances the right ones for the Sport? Pretty much..... Didn't they try to adjust the the cambers? I queried this when I picked the car up. According Lexus Derby (not sure who they use for the geo setup as it is not on site) the camber is not adjustable. The manual I have on pdf says that for the front, camber, caster and Toe are adjustable, and just camber and toe on the rear. Having just been under the car this afternoon, it certainly doesn't look like the eccentric cams on the front have been touched. Not sure with the rears. Overall, not happy with the results as the rears seam to have more negative camber than I started with which I can only assume will make the inner wear even worse (which was the main reason it was in there in the first place).

  17. OK, got the car back. The print outs are barely readable let alone scannable to put up here but I'll write down what I can figure out and see what we can pick the bones out of. Green - In tolerance, Red - out of tolerance. The rear readings are the ones that still concern me the most. Front Left before: Camber Tolerance 0°40' to -0°50' Reading -0°44' Caster No Readings Toe Tolerance -0°01' to 0°10' Reading -0°06' Front Right before: Camber Tolerance -0°50' to 0°40' Reading -1°13' Caster No Readings Toe Tolerance 0°10' to -0°01' Reading -0°03' Total Toe -0°09' Not sure what this reading is -0°02' Rear Left Before: Camber Tolerance -0°10' to -1°40' Reading -1°55' Toe Tolerance 0°06' to 0°17' Reading 0°14' Rear Right Before: Camber Tolerance -1°40' to -0°10' - Reading -2°09' Toe Tolerance 0°17' to 0°06' Reading 0°25' Total Toe Tolerance 0°12' to 0°34' Reading 0°39' Thrust Angle -0°05' Front Left After: Camber Tolerance 0°40' to -0°50' Reading -0°45' Caster No Readings Toe Tolerance -0°01' to 0°10' Reading 0°04' Front Right After: Camber Tolerance -0°50' to 0°40' Reading -1°13' Caster No Readings Toe Tolerance 0°10' to -0°01' Reading 0°04' Total Toe 0°08' Not sure what this reading is -0°00' Rear Left After: Camber Tolerance -0°10' to -1°40' Reading -1°57' Toe Tolerance 0°06' to 0°17' Reading 0°14' Rear Right After: Camber Tolerance -1°40' to -0°10' - Reading -2°12' Toe Tolerance 0°17' to 0°06' Reading 0°22' Total Toe Tolerance 0°12' to 0°34' Reading 0°36' Thrust Angle -0°04' Sorry it doesn't read a bit easier :(
  18. They did say they had both. Just wanted to double check really. Will get printouts and post up when the job is done. Would've liked a trip to you good self but time is at a premium at the moment and can't get to Hemel for the forseable.
  19. My '96 GS300 Sport is booked in to Lexus Derby on Friday for a full geo setup. Does anyone know what the geo settings should be set to for the mk1 Sport? I want to make sure they don't set it up as per the non-sport model. Cheers
  20. Renault Twingo, Diahatsu Applause, Proton Persona to name a few. There was also the Matra-Simca Rancho, which I always used to get confused about as a kid and think they had named it after the bacon flavour snack Rancheros.
  21. As far as I know, it just means your car could run hotter before the coolant starts to boil. Shouldn't make an difference during normal use but may help if stuck in traffic in hot weather and the temp goes up. I guess it is designed for race environments where the engines will typically run hotter.
  22. Just got the car back this afternoon. They found that the torque convertor oil seal (no idea which one) was also gone once the gear box was off. Both seals replaced for £311 all in. Not bad compared to the £940 quoted by Lexus for the crank seal. I'll deal with the sump later if it does indeed seem to be leaking.
