  1. WD40 or plus gas is your only hope i'm afraid. Gave that a go last week. No joy unfortunately
  2. How much and would your supplier do a group buy?
  3. I have an IS200/IS300 fascia kit I don't want/need so if you PM your address I'll stick it in the post and you can have it. Or depending where in Nottingham you are (read Derby side ;) ) I could meet somewhere near Bardills and you can have it.
  4. Cheers, clicking the link and then clearing my cookies out for ebay fixed it. B)
  5. Er... no I didn't. I gave a price for work, I gave no price for the value of my car. You don't know any of the variables to know what the value of my car is. Check Autotrader for a rough guage, £1495 and up from what I've just looked at. You weren't interested in even finding out. The recomendation of most was to just walk away as £20 is too cheap. I fail to see the logic in assuming that paying 150% more per wheel means that you will get a better result. You might, you might not, or you might just get the same result. There is no point in assuming and chucking money away, when at worst for an extra 10% outlay, you can find out for sure. You can then at least provide LOC members with some substantiated info and say yeah, top service for a great price, or steer clear they did a naff job.
  6. Just installed this and for some reason ebay has changed. Usually if I log in and go to "my ebay" and then type something in the search box, the results come up and there is the search box with what you searched for plus the option to tick the box to search descriptions as well. It no longer comes up with that in firefox but it does still show it in IE7. Very odd and bloody annoying. Anyone else found this or is there a setting in ebay that I've never used before that has been reset by the firefox upgrade?
  7. It should be easy'ish to atleast start to narrow down the problem. For the speedo to register any speed then the gearbox must be turning on the output side. You should easily be able to see if the prop is turning when you try and pull away (no idea if there is a centre bearing and joint on the IS). On a front wheel drive car I once had, all CV joint bolts come off one of the drive shafts and of course lost all drive. So at least try and see if there is any movement on one side of the diff as far as turning goes. if it does, then you could have a completely screwed CV joint on one side. Worth checking to get a better idea of where the damage is done. Fingers crossed it is on the cheap side of things for you mate.
  8. Who said anything about the repair costing the value of the motor? Either way I see no point to your point It still comes down to the fact the repair cost me a third of the expensive price, but that didn't make job I got done any worse. So what was your point? Like I said already, people are free to do what they wish with their money. for £20 I can't see how you can go far wrong getting one wheel done as a tester. If you then end up paying 50 quid each for the other wheels, you only spent 10% extra with the initial £20. If the jobs a good un, then you stand to save £120 by the time you get the other three done. Seems relatively simple to me, but hey, I'm a skin flint
  9. I'm just waiting for the guy to get back to me regarding a couple of other bits I'm after at the same time. He quoted £20 + delivery so hopefully that will be sorted soon. I can try and source another one if you can't find anything.
  10. Any chance of more details of what system you went for and the cost?
  11. The key word there is rarely, rather than never. I got quoted £940 by Lexus to fix my rear crank oil seal leak. Would I have got a better repair than the one I got elsewhere for £313?? I doubt it somehow so the old addage you get what you pay for meant naff all in that instance. If someone wants to automatically waste good money then they are certainly free to do so ;)
  12. IMO, if the guy says he is going to remove scuffs and refurb for 20 quid a wheel then it has got to be worth a shot at that price to see what you get. You could always give him the spare to do, 20 quid on one wheel aint a lot to experiment with and you could end up pleasantly surprised.
  13. Just realised my reply was a bit ambiguous. When I say increase, I mean better than before, so where I averaged 29-30mpg before on a motorway run, I now get 32-33 mpg.
  14. front offside door, It is the black plastic surround that goes round the window frame area, hold the rubber weather strip in place. I am having a problem with my camera so no phot - will see if i can borrow one next week Sounds like we are after the same thing. It is actually a metal frame (with a stainless steel inner frame rivetted on) and is bolted to the door. The rivets have come adrift on mine so the outer black part no longer sits in place properly. If you pull the window seal down around the top or back edge you will see the stainless inner frame). I have had no luck fixing mine and have just sourced one from a breakers. Tried the whole door root but they keep quoting for a "bare" door so I've actually no idea if the frame would be on there if I bought the door. Plus if it is bare, there is nowt extra of any use that makes it worth while buying the whole door :(
  15. I've had roughly a 10% increase across the fuel consumption figures since I fitted mine. Not noticed any performance difference though.
  16. I'm a possible depending on kid commitments. It will have to be a fairly last minute decision though :(
  17. I'm a possible in a convoy depending on my commitments with my kids. I can head down from Derby if I can make it but it will be a fairly last minute decision.
  18. I would be interested in where you end up going and how much it cost if you get one made.
  19. Yup, and also make sure the anti squeel shims, clips and springs are all in place too. If not, I believe you can order a full set of them as a kit from the dealer.
  20. does sound like the wrong filter was supplied mate. The K&N on my MK1 GS was a perfect fit but can see that if you tried to fit the MK1 filter to a MK2 GS you would have the same problems as you had. Like I said, sounds like they sent the wrong one for your IS300.
  21. Couple of threads on these links about chromed bulbs clicky clicky
  22. Slide pin bolt torque is 34 Nm (25 ft lbs) Caliper mount to hub bolts are 118 Nm (87 ft lbs)
