  1. ebay is your best bet for most of the parts. The wheels crop up occasionally and go for decent money, but still not what I would call excessive. I thinkt he last pair of 10" wides I saw went for £300'ish, which aint bad. I don't think they are extortionate even new from Lexus from what I remember. I currently have someone who may be taking my spare CD changer off me, but if it turns out they don't need it, I have two spare head units, an amp and a changer. I ditched the factory setup and have my own stuff in mine, something I would thoroughly recommend. Exhaust parts come up on ebay from time to time too, a brand new back box went for 30 quid or something recently. They are not cheap and there are not many options available after market either. There werea couple of headlamps on ebay plus numerous vehicles breaking too, so you could try them.
  2. Nice pick up, was it on ebay? I remember one recently with black wheels on it. Welcome to LOC.
  3. If putting the heating on helped to cool it back down, that would suggest that there is coolant flow wouldn't it? Not sure if the IS has electric fan(s) or a viscous coupled fan like the GS, but I would start looking at the fan first, or a possibility that the thermostat is jammed shut.
  4. I quoted that part of your text because as it happened, I hadn't missed you However, as far as my question goes, I would hope you understand it and I would hope OS X was capable. If you don't know the answer, maybe someone who develops OS X apps could give me some pointers. Obviously, I am not interested in the answer to run Windows on the mac and use the app I have already written for that platform. Oh, and I do not want to use Java.
  5. Cheers, I have a front strut brace at the moment but it is more a cosmetic thing (not a very riggid piece of kit) so would like something more substantial. My guess would be yes, but it is only a guess.
  6. This thread is for Mac users needing help, not for people with nothing better to do trying to be clever. Don't for one moment think I cannot answer your question. But your cover has been blown by comments in other threads. Try not to spoil the thread for those genuinely needing help. NEXT! FWIW, it is a serious question which I hoped would command a mature response. It would seem not. p.s. I seem to remember Rabsters thread being a Windows laptop thread which you derailed with your mac preachings, Hence you deserved my "FFS" response.
  7. What kind of prices are we talking Mat (for the strut and the shipping)?
  8. How can I implement a directory watcher class to monitor network drives and move files to an encrypted local drive?
  9. Lexus Leeds also have the same setup- one counter supplies spares to both Lexus and Toyota cars (Both Lexus and Toyota garage are on the same site). As does Lexus Derby.
  10. Cheers Chris, I'll look into it for the supra kits. I suspect when someone puts together a kit, it will up the price no end compared to building it up yourself. Worth a look though. Slightly worrying that ebay listing shows the GS300, and some IS200 as V6's
  11. Good luck with the fitting mate. Shame there is no similar kit for the GS 300, would love a bolt on kit to boost power by 25%-30%.
  12. After either/both of these if anyone has any :)
  13. fingers crossed with the customs duty, postage shouldn't come into it I wouldn't think.
  14. thats great thanks the pic you have , is that your current car..............its exactly same looking as mine inc colour (my old LS400 was same colour too) Yup, that is my current car :)
  15. Where are you starting from? You should be fine at that time of the morning on the M3 and M25 unless there are any unforseen issues like Stevie says. The M3 gets chocka between Fleet (j4a) and Ligh****er (j3) from about 7am til 9am'ish. After that is is generally no problem. The Winchester area on the M3 can be bad, but normally ok at that time.
  16. You can try it in situe. You will need to retract the pistons back and forward a few times to work the grease in (definately do not use copper slip on the piston seals). IME, it will always be a temporary fix and will come back eventually, so new seals are really the only proper fix.
  17. The rear pads on the GS are virtually identical to the front, but a single piston caliper rather than two pistons. The main difference with the rear brakes is that the hand/foot brake shoes are contained in a drum which is part of the rear disc. Won't make any difference to you if you are only doing the pads though. Yes, pads are sold per axle set, i.e. enough to do both side of the car.
  18. Yeah, ok, whatever you say mate. Just remind me which garage you work in so I can avoid.
  19. I did a tutorial for removing the stereo as part of fixing the AC control illumination. clicky
  20. IS procedure is similar to the GS one I did in this tutorial I believe. clicky
  21. just use copperslip matey!!i work for a main dealer(toyota)and thats all we use on the cars! (from aygo's to v8 land cruisers) :winky: Which dealer do you work for? Remind me not to go there if they are not using what the manufacturer recommends. If Toyota are meant to use copper slip, then the service manuals should say so, which they do not. landcruisers and rav 4's suffer sticky slides as do the lex's(as well as sticky pistons) useing copper slip prevents this problem been using this for years on all my cars as has the garage and no complaints so far!!!!!!!!!!copper grease is high temp too and stays put for ages!!so whats the problem???????? just fitted a set of brakes to a members car on here and didn't see him jumping up and down when i brought out the tin of copper slip!!!in fact he brought his own incase i didnt have any!!! If someone doesn't know any better, why would they not put copper slip (or bring their own)? My problem is if a service manual by Lexus (Toyota) says to use something, I would expect a Lexus (Toyota) garage to use it. Not substitute for what ever they see fit. Unless you can piont me in the direction of a service bulletin that says you are not to use the recommended grease because it causes slide pin seizure? Has it occured to you that maybe the reason there are so many seizures, is because people keep using copper slip instead of the correct grease!!!!!
