  1. The Parrot wouldn't have to go through the Amp, depends where you hook into in the loom. The "mute" cable essentially just cuts the stereo feed to the speakers and routes the Parrot output direct to the speakers. You could fit the Parrot on the "output" side of the amp and not worry about the amp at all. Would mean some cutting and splicing but it would still do the job. If you put an ISO connector in line, you can restore everything back to factory by just unplugging the Parrot.
  2. Does the LS work similar to the mk1 GS where their is the ability to disable the unlock button so that you can leave things in the boot without fear of a smashed window and the boot being released from inside the car (or for when valet parking etc). On the GS, there is a button next to the switch which takes the ignition key. If you press the button, it disables the release button and you use your key to unlock it and re-enable the release button. If that all makes sense!
  3. Still worth asking the dealer mate. I've found before that where they have items taking up shelf space for "out of production" models, they sometimes sell the stuff off much cheaper than you expect. Mk1 roof bars were one example, 80 quid for a set of lockable bars was cheaper than a set of thule bars for the BMW I used to have. I got a set of second hand bars cheaper, but just shows it is worth checking.
  4. Not yet, roughly think it'll be about 6secs. Got a Blitz mini timer thing to install that'll give me an accurate time. Excellent, that is some improvement
  5. Congrats on the completed project Stav, Looks awesome B) I assume you have tried a stop watch on the 0-60 time as a rough test, what's it look like?
  6. I would expect the colour match to be ok, but you do need to t-cut the excess off once it has dried. You can never get the pen only the scratch, it always goes past the edges, but a good buff off afterwards will sort that out, similar to removing over spray. Just take your time. That is what chipsaway would do, so simpler to get them to do it, but not impossible to do yourself. Especially on a non-metallic colour.
  7. Just buy a new mast mate. You can find them on ebay in the UK and in the United States. Not sure how the prices compare these days but when I got mine it was cheaper to buy two masts from the US than one from the UK, but exchange rates are not so good now. I did a tutorial on stripping the unit down to remove the cord if it has snapped. See here Clicky After market ones will fit, but the factory one adjusts the length based on the frequency you are tuned to. Recpetion is improved because of it. This function is lost if you change for a non-factory unit or if you swap out the head unit for a non factory unit.
  8. I was thinking the same myself yesterday, so would be interested in some pics also.
  9. That's bad news on the compression test mate. Hope you get it sorted soon. Good price on the engine though and hopefully you can find a good price on the change over.
  10. Nice pics Paul, Anuj and rtc. Yeah, Mine have been refurbed in the past (could do with being done again) and the spare still has the dark edging on the spokes.
  11. I've used Falken FK452's, Goodyear Eagle F1 GDS3's, Continental Sport Contact 2's and currently have Vredestein Ultrac's. Most expensive being the Sport contacts at £187'ish each. All been good but never kept track of mileage coverage unfortunately. Definately shop around a bit and as mentioned, 275/35/18's are the proper size.
  12. Sorry to hear that mate, hope you get it sorted out soon.
  13. What did it do when it failed to start? i.e. did it turn over?
  14. You don't need the coil packs to get the compression test done. The spark plug has to be removed to do the check, and the ignition "disabled" to stop the engine starting up (unless all plugs have been removed in which case it isn't going to start anyway). It is essentially just a pressure gauge screwed into the spark plug hole.
  15. A compression test is a way of testing that when the piston is compressing the air/fuel mixture ready to fire with the spark plug, that there are no excessive leaks past the piston rings, piston bores, valve seats or any combination of these items. If there is damage, this is likely to show it up.
  16. Not many full car shots other than the two in my sig below. this was just after a polish last year
  17. I would be amazed if it had gone in the engine without causing some fairly catestrophic damage. If it is the top part of the plug that the coil pack clips onto, then I suspect it has been broken off before, removed from the coil pack and then the coil pack just pushed back on. The spark is most likely strong enough to jump the gap under the coil pack and still fire the spark plug in the combustion chamber.
  18. The only problem I have had with jacks like those is the suspension travel on BIG cars. On my old SDI Vitesse, it couldn't go high enough to actually lift a wheel off the ground when jacking on the body points I suspect my GS would be the same, or very close to it, an LS may be even worse?
  19. Oddly enough, the mk1 "Sport" never came out of the factory as a "Sport". It was actually something that was done to a standard Mk1 when it hit British shores. The dealers put the lowered springs on, the wheels, the grill and the decals. They were given the 8½" all round (I think they are 8½), with the option of the the 10" rears, but technically, nothing on it was a factory option. Rubber aint cheap, last Continental Sport Contact 2's that I bought were £187 each, last pair of Eagle F1 GSD3's were £300 for the pair. Bagged a pair of Ultracs off Gord for £150 (bargain :) ). Last pair of Falken FK452's were £280 if I remember correctly.
  20. Anyone here?Three IS200's at 3 different houses on the same road in Cranbourne area of Basingstoke. two silver ones, one gun metal grey type colour.
  21. Nice wheels. Not the "Sport" wheels we were talking about though, the 10" wide ones are the ones on mine in my sig.
  22. Might be different as aasim305 appears to be in Miami so lights may be set up differently. Yeah, could well be. Didn't notice the post was from Miami.
