  1. Nah, he wants to put it next to the M and AMG badges Just kidding of course
  2. Sound slike belt wear to me. Does the belt cover the complete width of the cam sprocket at the top? If not, sounds like your belt has worn quite alot. Check this topic for example pics Cambelt wear
  3. Hi Tigerfish well the story is that Lexus wanted 175 my local garage wanted 260 to fit it so i shopped around on e bay and a 2001 model being stripped in london, and this is were i had it from and it looks new at 35 it will do me. the problem is is where they put the rubber or foam on the two ends where it tucks behind the rad these hold water and it go there,i think i if they made cooler shorter and rubber pipes go behind rad there would not be any problem,I have kept my old one to see if it can be repaired in anyway, I think the price of 175 is taking the p---- a little bit for a bent bit of pipe. Don Good result on finding a decent replacement. Have you done anything different when you put it back together to stop the water trap on the foam ends? No i didnt i just wanted to get car back on road and the foam is to protect the pipe from rubbing on metalwork, but may do something about it some time later I have old one to work from . y u are on can you answer a question please that is if you know the answer they have a radio i will be buying for 80 with LCD all working ok, same radio as mine but buttons worded different. mine say other one says DISC this must be the same thing? mine says ASL other one says TXT not sure about this one? also is wiring plug the same DON Sorry mate, I know fook all about the hifi setups other than the Mk1 GS's. Is it a GS or Aristo that they are breaking? Maybe that has a difference. ASL I seem to recall seeing something about a while back and is something to do with speed sensitive volume settings. i.e. it gets louder the faster you go etc. Could be wrong though. If that is the case, there is probably a wiring difference for a speed pickup, but that is just a guess. ya thats what the ASL dos which means audio sound level, but cant work out what TXT means, anyway it is a GS300 MK2 2001 Only thing I can think of for TXT is CD text. Maybe it displays track names if the CD you are playing has CD Text on it.
  4. The IS front caliper/disc/pad arrangement is identical to the GS, the tutorial I did here should show enough detail on how they work. Disc and pad change tutorial The slide pins should be greased and/or overhauled at the same time. The only bush I can think of from your description is on the slide pin. This link is the slide pin overhaul guide I did. Slide Pin Overhaul
  5. This is where you find that the ultrasonic blue become so common that the second hand market will favour the other colours

  7. I know this is a bit of a resurection, but thought I should add that in the end the sump oil seal was sound, and still is. Any oil around the sump was purely a result of the crank seal leak spreading out all over the place.

  9. Carbon coming from where? If it is carbon in the height sensor itself, then it would be more than likely conductive carbon for the contacts, so that argument kinda falls over at that point IMO. Rust/corrosion from water ingress sounds much more feasible.
  10. Good result. Where did you get your pipe from? There seem to be quite a few with this problem cropped up recently so if you have a cheaper source for this pipe than Lexus, it would be handy for a lot of folk. It can be patched, but a new pipe is always better at the right price.
  11. Where ever your coolant is going, regardless of whether it turned out to be the head gasket, needs to be found asap. If it is left, at some point it is going to go big style and you could end up with a head gasket job after all. Be sure to look down the front of the rad for discolouration inbetween the coolant rad and the air con rad. Easy mistake to make to look in the front of the car and think you are looking at the front of the coolant rad, and thinking it is a-ok, rather than looking at the right one which is sat behind it and corroded to buggery. The system doesn't need repressurising. You may be able to get some recourse from the place you bought it from if something like the rad is leaking and needs replacing, especially if it was a trader rather the private sale.
  12. Stiffer springs?? How have you lowered it, by cutting coils off? Sounds like it is way too soft. Any pics of the ride height and suspension setup?

    Gs300 Mk1

Got it, I'll be in touch. The 11th should be fine though.
  14. Hmm, not sure I would like that, would defo want it to go on the screen. If it did what I wanted, I would pay that. Have you got any details?
  15. I have no clue what a GS radio looks like..lol Mine is similar to the one below. Yeah, the units look different but if they are made by the same company (pioneer I think for the GS - not labelled as such on the front though), then there is a good chance that they will be made in a similar way. The style of them with the LCD displays etc look similar.
  16. Any details on these brackets yet Mat? I'm considering a double Din unit for my car and want to use proper brackets this time rather than DIY'ed ones. Mat is currently in limbo moving from Germany to the UK I am sure he will get back to this as soon as he gets settled in OK, thanks Bazza.
  17. If the GS stereos are similar, I can take one of my spare head units apart later to see what Leds it uses. From what I remember, there seemed to be some surface mounted, and some on very long legs. Let me know if you want me to check.

  19. Anybody know if there are aftermarket kits available for this? I was in my brother-in-laws M5 the other day (boy is that fast) and it reminded of what I consider to be one of the better safety features to come out in recent years. Doesn't seem to have caught on but I think it is a fantastic idea and would like to have it in any car I had.
  20. Maybe a pressure bypass kicks in at some point to protect seals and stuff, so drops the pressure slightly while it is open?

    Gs300 Mk1

OK. Gotcha. Well, you are welcome to have the unit I have and see if you can sort it out. Should be something fairly simple I would think, but as I don't have the Amp or head unit in my car anymore, I can't fanny about with it.
  22. Saw a very nice dark green Mk1 GS Sport in St Ives whist I was in Cornwall last week. I parked up in the pay and display and the other Sport was across the road in a car park, near the steps down to the beach. Any one on here?
