  1. Carefull fella, read the advert on there and you will see they only do the fascia for LHD cars. no good for over here in the UK.
  2. Agree with the above, the GS300 is a 24 valve as standard, with no other option.
  3. But you've only had the car two weeks, with all the other issues you've had, I'm not convinced I would believe the previous owner about anything. Pop along to a battery place and get it checked out anyway, the checks are free.
  4. Also worth checking that the battery is in tip top condition. My GS used to do this if it hadn't been used for a few days and the battery level started to drop.
  5. Yes, you will need a new fascia which you can get from Toyota (not from Lexus). See this post I did on my single din change, you wouldn't need the cubby hole part for the double din. I made the mounting brackets myself but I am waiting for a reply from Monster Mat in another thread as it looks like Toyota also do the brackets and we just need to sort out what the part number is. clicky You will need an adaptor harness from Toyota connectors to ISO in all likelyhood too. I didn't bother with a converting harness, I just cut the factory plugs off and put ISO connectors on the factory harness. This also allowed me to connect in the Parrot handsfree kit at the same time. Don't forget you will also have to bypass the amp in the boot depending on what the stereo is like, and no aftermarkets will control the CD changer so that will become redundant. On the plus side, when you ditch the Amp and changer, it give some handy extra space for the sub woofer, a Vibe CBRA100 in my case.
  6. This post should sort you out for the Idiot Guide......... clicky
  7. when i checked my spark plugs yesterday i took the air box off and remebered theres an air sensor clip which i seem to think i forgot to reconect, lol oops. could this be it? would the ecu light come one if this was disconected No idea, someone with an IS may be able to answer that. Reading the codes should tell him though.
  8. was the car doign anything at all when you tried to start? i.e. turning over slowly, or clicking, or completely dead, or anything?
  9. He needs to read the fault codes, I would assume he would have an ODBII reader. If he has finished the cambelt change etc, he may have forgotten to reconnect something.
  10. If your mate had an E36 that did it, it was worn trailing link bushes on the rear that allowed the rear suspension to move slightly as it loads and unloads on the wheel. Had that on my E36 325 Coupe until it was sorted. Whether it is normal on an IS, I've no idea but I wouldn't have thought so.
  11. Are you sure there is none of the original cord stuck inside? Check this topic I did a while ago mate and see if it helps clicky
  12. Cool, thanks Tigerfish, but I thought there might be a problem with differnet frequencies between the US & UK? Andy. No idea to be honest. I have heard it mentioned before about getting them stateside so made the assumption there was no difference. I would expect Lexus Sewell to be able to advise though if it came to it.
  13. Tigerfish, While we're on the subject and location wise we are not too far from one another do you now any local repairs specialising in Lexus rather than using main dealers which tend to be more expensive. Thanks. Andy Sorry, I've not had to use anyone down this way yet. Prior to that it was places around Derby where I lived before. The car had a head gasket job done a while back but I was up north at the time. Not that I was overly impressed with that work anyway so not on my own personal recomend list. Everything else since the move to Basingstoke I have done myself.
  14. Part numbers I can find are 42607-30040 and 42607-50010. You could try Lexus Sewell in the United States, they will ship to the UK and you may well save a few bob that way.
  15. Sounds an expensive option. The ignition barrels on the IS are a known issue, with Lexus keys too, so I suspect it is coincidence with cut keys and the stories you have heard.
  16. The lights under the gear shift are just normal incandescent bulbs if the GS is anything to go by. I have just replaced the ones on my GS with led equivelents.
  17. Just found that on the V10 form it says So I guess you cannot put it on as soon as it arrives. Seems daft to me.
  18. That's what I am hoping, but I cannot find any info on it one way or the other :(
  19. I've got the same problem on mine after someone tried to lever the top of the door open. It can be removed, there are small nuts and bolts which are visible once you have removed the plastic trim around the inside of the door/window frame. And some screws which are visible once you pull the rubber window seal out from around the top. The ones at the bottom are a bit tricky to get off with the window glass still in. as far as repairing goes, it depends what has happened. On mine, the little spot welds holding the black metal outside trim onto the shiney metal inner window guide have been broken. Doesn't look like there is much that can be done for it, as the frame has been bent slightly. If the welds are all in tact, which I suspect they aren't if the black frame is sitting proud, but if they are, you might be able to reclamp it into line with the nuts/bolts/screws. From what I remember. the price of the trim is around £90. I still need to replace mine as it is glued and taped at the moment, and does look cr*p
  20. I've tried googling but can't seem to find a definitive answer. If I buy my car tax online say 3 weeks before my tax runs out (as I did last month), how early can I put the new disc in the car? I seem to recall in the past that you were not allowed to put it in early at all, but having now forgotten to put the new one in and still showing the old one, I could fall foul of not displaying a valid disc I assume! What's the score??
  21. You can get spare keys off ebay and as long as you have the master, you can reprogram the keys yourself as you have a master, and get the blade cut at a key shop (not all do them, but there are certainly some that do - try the search facility on the forum). I would be surprised if the exhaust would cause vibration through the gear stick. Is the car firing on all cylinders ok? Not an IS200 owner so can't help any further. What year IS is it?
  22. Cheers for that mate. The seal was done a while back so is all sorted. The sump gasket is a mastik gun type of sealer, no idea on the proper name, but not a cork one like the good old days.
  23. What is the Toyota official labour rate per hour? Lexus Derby don't have a workshop, or parts department, so use Toyota next door. Would be extremely bad form for them to quote two different rates for the same mechanic in the same workshop, depending on whether he is working on a Lexus or Toyota.
