  1. Tracking is one of the geometry settings that would be adjusted at WIM (as well as caster and camber etc). I can only assume the MOT station has spotted excessive wear on the inner edges of your front tyres.
  2. Yeah, I have a set of blue and a set of white for the heater controls. Been messing about with a spare heater control unit so not put anything in the car yet. Next stop is the window switches. The front passenger door one is blue, need to do the same with the rest.
  3. The orange cup is held in place by a philips screw but unfortunately from the lense direction. I guess you could heat and split the lense and reflector, but snapping the thing out was simple enough and did no damage.
  4. Thanks Might look into the bigger supra brakes if they are not too dear. Will those be the Brembo 4 pots then? Also, I cant find front or rear strut braces anywhere for these cars. I suppose the oem front brace is rare as rocking horse dung? The supra brakes are normally pretty expensive as they are a much sought after piece of kit. Decent strut braces are a bitch to find, been trying for a while now. eBay in the states is your best bet as long as you can find a seller who will ship worldwide. Not even seen a rear one yet. I have a strut brace on mine, but it is not stiff enough to do much, so is more cosmetic. Looks ok though. I have a K&N panel in the oem filter box, not sure it has boosted anything power wise, but did seem to improve fuel consumption by around 10%.
  5. The owners manual and the "Sport" brochure both list the tank as 80 litres (17.6 Imp Gallons). Mind you, I've never managed to get anywhere close to that low with how early the light comes on. From memory, I think 72 litres is the most I've ever put in to brim it. Not sure what my averages are at 80, but sat as 75, I get in the region of 33-35 mpg. Mixed driving it's around 25mpg, and all town driving anywhere between 15-20mpg.
  6. Look good. Were they custom made for you? Wouldn't it be a more accurate test if you do it now? otherwise the arbs may influence the results.
  7. That would be quite an expensive exercise to do them all. Let us know how you get on with this.
  8. It is relatively complicated. On the front you have the hub, which at the top has a top wishbone, at the bottom is the Balljoint, the main suspension arm and the trailing suspension arm. At the rear you have a top wishbone, two main bottom arms, and a trailing link. Plus there are the arb drop links front and rear which tend to rust to the point they are destroyed if changing the arm they are connected to. The rear hubs have bushes in them, which if they wear out, needs the whole hub changing. None of the bushes themselves are replaceable (not sure on poly aftermarket ones though) so it always the case that it is an arm that needs changing. None of which are cheap from lexus. The two trailing bottom arms were something like £180 each including LOC discount. There are aftermarker arms, by blueprint I think, but I didn't have the time to search last time. I needed to get the arms couriered to the garage asap. Top wishbones are about £80'ish on ebay, all the bottom rear arms I got from a breaker, £100 for all four. As far as labour goes, there are some hidden costs that may bite. For starters, the trailing arms on the front suspension require the front subframe to be dropped a couple of inches to get them off, so extra manhours there. On top of that, on mine, the adjuster bolts were seized solid, so had to be heated/cut/ground to get them off, time consuming. Other stuff is a doddle to do, the front top wishbones can be changed with relatively basic tools (including a balljoint splitter - see my tutorial in my sig), so not all bad :)
  9. I got my HID kit from this seller a couple of years back. HID Kit, a 6000k set. As far as suspension parts go, I have had arb drop links, bottom ball joints, track rod ends and tie bars from this ebay seller clicky. Front top arms I bought two complete front hubs with top arms, abs sensors etc from a guy breaking a GS just after I bought the car. Kept them in the garage as spares. Still have the hubs, one good top arm and one knackered one (that came off my car). The front lower arms (the trailing ones) I bought new from Lexus as the car was already in for the head gasket when they found the suspension problem while getting the car off the recovery truck. I have a suspision that I will need rear top arms soon. I already have spares for all four bottom rear suspension arms.
  10. I should still have my old one in the garage, but I won't be going up to Derby for a couple of weeks so can't check right now. If I do have it, you are welcome to it for the cost of postage.
  11. Not sure of the exact mileage, but around 200k I think. No idea of the cause, could be realted back to the radiator going, but that was a good 8 or 9 months earlier. Not a tremendous amount. In theory anything that is for the N/A Supras sould work but there probably isn't much for those either. I would go for a HID kit rather than messing with the xenon bulbs. The HIDs on mine have vastly improved the lighting and appearance.
  12. Not aware of any comman ABS or steering rack issues on the mk1. Brakes problems (sticking pistons and slide pins) seems a common issue across all older Lexus models. I've had my fair share of problems with mine, blown head gasket, rear crank oil seal, suspension bushes etc. All been pretty costly unfortunately.
  13. On the GS, there is a valve on the bulkhead in the engine bay controlled by a cable (controls the waterflow through the interior heater matrix). If that isn't adjusted correctly, you get none/little heat out of the system. Maybe the IS has the same?
  14. always worth getting a quote from a forum sponsor so give Sky a try Sky Insurance Sub Forum.
