Hi All
not sure if this has been asked before so here goes.
my rx350 has developed a mind of its own, for the past 3 weeks i have been getting up in the morning to find all the electric windows down and the sunroof open. no problem until today when it p**sed it down and soaked inside. does anyone know why the windows and sunroof do this by themselves? any help would be appreciated.

lexus and toyoya dealerships in nottingham are adjacent to each other and the technicians seem work in the same garage, are they the same technicians?

A D3 is A BMW Alpina. I test drove one before I bought my IS250 SE and I have to say it was superb to drive but as usual with beamers you don't get all the toys. The D3 Alpina styling is fab in my opinion and so is the drive but as the lexus dealers said the BMW is no longer as exclusive a club as it used to be. what put me off buying one as well, the bmw dealer said you can't specify extras on the D3 either. hey ho each to his own.

especially the speed camera thing if it can be done on a tom tom then surely it can be done here.
have you used the voice command for the phone whilst driving "what a pain in the a**e". one command to phone whoever would be much better.

Hi Tango
Thought I was getting my head round this but not so sure now :duh:
I looked at your settings and thought I would email Vemiri to check and they sent me this email back.
Hello Glen,
I have been checking the widths on this vehicle and as I already thought the maximum you can go on 19” is 8.5 and no more and therefore the 9.5 x 19” will not work on this vehicle. The offset is quiet surprising to the old one because, the old IS200 would list and offset of 35-45, but the new IS250 list anything from offset 30-40,
I guess it’s because of the bigger arches it has compared to the old IS200 which has quiet narrow arches.
So to fit the Vemiri Peralae wheel will not be a problem at all. If you do decide to go for them, if it’s not too much trouble would it be possible to send some photos?
Any way I will leave this with you and let you decide what you would like to do.
And then I emailed Performance alloys and they replied:
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry.
No problem! We can do 8x19 et35 and 9.5x19 et42
MORE CONFUSED NOW
Your set up works! which one of these experts should I listen to, main supplier, who is much cheaper or performance alloys.
whoever said pimpin aint easy was dead right.

Thanks Vemgi
If that'll work then great.
sorry don't know a deal about wheels.
-
Thanks Tango
Yes I was proposing to put 19 x 8 on all round but won't after reading your info.
Thats p**sed on my bonfire mate Vemiri's are only available in 19 x 8
19 x 9.5 and 19 x 11.
Back to the drawing board I suppose
Thanks for the info Tango very helpful.

Hi all
looking for some help/ advice for fitting alloys to my IS 250.
I have been looking for some aftermarket alloys and have finally settled on some vemiri peralae http://www.vemiri.com/home.php.
I was just wondering, will the 19 x 8 rims be ok?
and I was thinking of putting 245 35 19 on the rear and 225 35 19 on the front.
Also if and when I have done this, would it be wise to get the geometry checked out by WIM?
Thanks G

Welcome to LOC :)
Glad you're enjoying the car - looking at where you are did you go to Tint-R?
There are a lot of local meets in your area, keep an eye on here or over on UltraJap for details of when they're occurring :)
Hi Aido
yes I did go to Tintr, Richard has done 3 cars for me in the past and always done a great job, was a difficult job for rear screen but he managed it in the end.
I will look out for some meets, I see there is one in Stafford on the 10th but i'm on my hols so maybe next time. Ultrajap is new to me just had a quick look, looks ok.
lots for me to pick up and learn on here.
thanks mate

hi there folks
Just thought i would introduce myself, i have been kicking around the site for about a week now and i have put a few posts in and suddenly thought, oops i haven't done the necessarys and said hello .
I bought my IS 250 SE 2 weeks ago and have had the windows tinted and am looking to do a few more modifications starting with the wheels, looks like the place to be here loads of info to look through.
its my first lexus but after driving it for the past 2 weeks it certainly won't be my last.
-
Thanks for that I've never heard of em either, just been on their site and bought some, nice designs too.

when I bought mine (nottingham stealership) I was told i would get something upgraded from my IS 250 guaranteed either an rx or gs suppose it depends on the dealer. yet to try it out, there will be trouble ahead if not.
-
I've driven mainly manuals for 14 years then changed to an auto for the past 6 years. I missed driving a manual when i bought my IS 250 so opted for the manual box, i find it to be a bit notchy in first, second and third and from the reviews i've read the auto box is superb, wish i had gone for one myself. But each to his own as they say i would recommend test driving both, the stealerships will give you plenty of time to test.
Happy hunting.

Hi
thinking of getting some vemiri peralae wheels 19 x 8 does anyone know of any handling problems for aftermarket alloys? sorry if this has been asked before i'm a newbie.
company say they do fit and i've seen a pic of a IS200 with them on but not a IS 250. i love the wheels and have managed to track some down for £1150 for 4 (no tyres), they are £356 each on performance alloys, if anyone knows of other wheels for the IS 250 or can get the vemiri peralae's cheaper than £1150 I would be glad for the information.

What sort of price are TintR wanting and is it for both sides and rear from the b piller and rear?
Mine was both sides in front of and behind the 'B' pillar plus the rear screen in Lumar metallised film for 200 notes...probably a little cheaper because Richard of TintR doesn't have to dismantle the rear parcel shelf etc.
Thanks for that Tango thats what i was quoted in Derby. Ive decided to only go from the B pillar backwards so i will give him a call next week for a price because i do rate his work.
P.S at this rate we should get a LOC discount! :)
mine was 225 for all 4 plus back but that is with rear screen in situ and as tango said its a bitch to do but all went well and looks fine.

Ive had my Lexus IS220d Sport for almost 2 months now (07 reg). Ive been to the lexus/Toyota garage and told them that my clutch sounds buggered for want of a better word. They said leave it 3-4 thousand miles and then come back. Ive read a few posts on this website that says the problem wont go away.
Does anyone know of a fix from Lexus that stops the struggle with changing 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears and that horrible noise in between gears that sounds like you are the worst driver in the world?
Also my gear stick has started squeaking between 1st and 2nd know to add insult to injury. I am seriously considering getting rid and changing to the BMW.
Such a good lucking car let down by the gears.
If anyone does know for sure that Lexus can fix this problem it would be appreciated, Thanks.
just bought the IS 250 SE MM picked it up last friday fantastic car to drive but i have to agree with you the first 2 gears seem to "clunk" a bit which does let it down, but for me not enough to detract from the rest of the car which is very good. lets hope lexus can fix it.
-
that looks great tango, are you taking your 250 to japfest ? :)
That's the plan..although it looks a bit strange at the moment as the sides are tinted but not the rear. Waiting for the back screen to come out for the roof panel to be resprayed in a couple of weeks so I can take it to TintR and finish the job. Much easier to do it off the car (and cheaper) and may as well take advantage of the situation due to the unfortunate dint in the roof
hey tango
you dont know me mate i'm a newbie on here, i picked up my IS 250 SE MM last friday (luv it) i was just reading your post about your tints. I live in nottingham and have just come back from Richards place (tintr) i asked him if it was the first IS 250 he has done and he said "no funnily enough i did one this week (first one) the bloke came all the way from gloucester and he's coming back because he's got a tiny little dint on the roof and he's gotta have the front and back screen out to get it repaired", he said i hope the rear screen is out when you come as its a b***ard to do. sorry mate thought it was dead spooky listening to richards story then joining this forum and reading it. good bloke richard very professional he's done 3 cars for me now always a good job. Very nice car you have there mate as well thats what i'm working towards, wheels are next know any decent places let me know. cheers mate.

i had same problem on my is 220d 07 plate. it had recently ran out of warranty. i was driving back to notts from cardiff when the vsc ight came on and was followed by the car going into limp mode. i was on the motorway so couldnt really continue as it was dangerous. managed to get off at next junction, phoned the AA they couldnt sort it so called out a pick up. they advised not to drive it. lexus arranged a courtesy car the next day through the AA (Top spec Merc) they rang me 2 days later and told me they had put a new cat on and changed the ecu no charge i didnt even need to ask. fantastic service yet again from Lexus Nottingham (thanks Louise)_which i why i have had 3 lexus models from them in the past 5 years and will continue to use them.....
