  1. well good luck with it,the worst of it is this issue involves two garages both in the same dealership group ,so why are they using different parts .as far as i am concerned if the proper toyota ,lexus parts exsist they should have gone on my car in the beginning not these others
  2. i like the colour, think it suits all the chrome trim and dulls down the front lights ,which in my opinion stick out a bit on the darker cars and give it that frog look.good choice
  3. Good point i wonder how hard it would be to change the use of the foglights into driving lamps or is it just the position of them that determins this .
  4. i have been dazzled by foglights but no were near as much as the HIDs that are in the new mercs bms etc they give out a white light and you can spot them a mile of ,of cause i could be wrong and it might just be the people that have fitted aftermarket bulbs that are much brighter anyone else got any veiws on this .also have you noticed the type of people that drive with the fogs on ,90% of the time it is always a young male with the sounds on trying to look like jack the lad .i agree they do make the car look better but at the end of the day they are ilegal as scarfafe said .
  5. That was my fault after walking across the grass. :D ← now you have an ls400 you should be changing into your slippers before driving it :P
  6. Looking good ,just needs a valet now .what a difference spraying them wheels makes they look new
  7. Have just replaced my pads all round and have noticed the old pads that were installed by lexus have not got toyota stamped on then like the ones that the toyota garage were going to supply .so much for only fitting quality parts and paying lexus prices etc when they are just fitting the jap equivalent .why can one garage supply toyota (lexus)pads but the other that fitted them and supplied them fits aftermarket ones .something not right me thinks could it be because the first lexus garage fitted them, they also made a bit on the pads ,were as the second lexus garage that only supplys them has a bigger mark up on the origanal pads .Is it just me being suspicious ??
  8. i always remember buying a crash damaged golf and finding after fixing it that it would not start ,we tried everything to get this bugger started only to find after about 2 hours later that the owner had put in a dummy rear window heater switch and wired it up to bypass the coil if switched on.thought it was an exellent way of fitting a cheap imoberliser ,had us stumped. If you do decide to carry a baseball bat make sure you have the ball to go with it as the old bill can say nowt if you do
  9. Have wrote my van of twice now and bought it back from the insurance company ,all i have ever had to do is re-mot it .the second time they wrote it off it affected the payout by £500 ,so paid out £6500 instead of £7000
  10. i think 12000 miles a year is classed as average so yours is about right ,not heard anyone state that 10k is average for years as this used to be the norm .with that mileage and the price you stated i think your car is a bargain
  11. if the car was recorded as a write of and you need to get it shown as clear on the register there is a place in surrey that do,s this i think they are called autoline but not 100%,can find out though if you need .if you just want proof that the car is repaired and roadworthy to satisfy insurance etc all you need is to mot it to show this.
  12. I looked at one of these in white many years ago but it needed to much work (rusty),if i remember rightly it was a very quick car .that red one looks in very good condition aint seen one for ages .
  13. Another reason for you to get that series II GS ;) ← your not wrong colin i realy fancy a mk11 GS430 and have been looking for the last few weeks ,seems the new gs is gonna knock the price down a bit so am gonna wait a while ,still some excellent examples out there though.one of my biggest concerns is having to rely on lexus dealers for bits for it as my experiance with the mk1 has not been good when it comes to lexus dealers ,seems they all think thier :tsktsk: don't stink ,mind you when you tell them you have a mk1 i think they look down on you ,salesmen today at lexus said you cant buy a decent lexus with 10k ,i am sure theres a few on here that will disagree with that
  14. Yes ,recon you would get 4.5k for yours ,would imagine theres not much in the fuel consumption probaly dos a few miles less but think of all the fun you'll have.only drawback for me would be the lack of leather and the fact it is 14 years old .
  15. yep i hate it to ,got done for it a few years back in a honda i had ,was cleaning car and switched them on by mistake ,got pulled over about 100 yards from my house and fined £30 .what amazes me is the amount of cars that have no warning light on the dash for front fogs the gs300 being one of them
  16. Like the look much better without them water jet thingys ,might get mine taken of but would prefer to fit a new front bumper like that one
  17. see this on ebay anyone know what the kit is ,looks nice http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4523087323&rd=1
  18. Bet they are better than the ones i am picking up tomorrow as well ,shame your not nearer dave i would have drove down and got them ← got the fronts in stock............rears are diff size to mine........... would have delivered anyway needed to look at your headlights ! never mind...........I'll pop down soon :winky: ← Ok cheers dave
  19. Makes sense I suppose, just need to wash it first so I can take some half decent pics. :) I can't find anyone advertising anything similar anywhere so not sure on price. 1999 'T' reg, Lexus LS400, full Lexus service history, sat nav etc. 2000 ones are going for £11495 while 1998 for £9995 so I guess advertise at £10,750 ono? Thoughts anyone? And do the decent thing and let it go for less than whatever I finally decide to advertise it at, if the buyer is a Gold Member. :winky: ← i would have thought thats £2K too much, sorry ← And thier was me thinking that was a good price for a (99T) LS400 ,Are they realy that cheap that is some depriciation :o
  20. Bet they are better than the ones i am picking up tomorrow as well ,shame your not nearer dave i would have drove down and got them
  21. it was not so much the fact that they had toyota written on them but the fact that if i wanted them fitted i had to pay lexus prices ,now bear in mind i am standing in a toyota garage with the parts that have toyota written on them with a bloke saying that will be £20 an hour extra cause you have a lexus because we have trained a toyota mechanic to work on your car, B:tsktsk: S :tsktsk: have they my car was purchased from new (not by me)from toyota as were all lexus roughly 10 years ago ,who worked on them then TOYOTA did .if i am gonna pay lexus prices i want lexus service ,not sit there sir while we run your car up the road to the nearest toyota garage to fit parts with toyota stamped on them for lexus prices . Dave i would have taken you up on the offer but they hit metal today whilst my wife was driving and i was desprate for them ,have had to settle for a pattern part but at £47 for both sets its quite a saving. Rodders sorry just read my post again and probaly did not make it clear enough .they did not refuse to sell them to me it was just they have no parts dept or workshop facilitys so they send everyone down the road to their toyota garage .
  22. Went into my local lexus dealer today to buy front and rear pads only to be told i had to drive down the road to the toyota garage to get them ,feeling a bit p :tsktsk: off i asked the salesman (who was a jumped up little t :tsktsk: ,the type i am relising lexus love to employ)if i have my lexus serviced with them could i have toyota rates ,to which his reply was no as it is worked on by a lexus tech .so i said thats ok mine is a toyota supra in drag so a toyota tech will be fine ,he then asked me why i did not want to pay lexus money because surley when i bought the car i knew how dear they were to work on ,so i stated that i now have a car that is nearly ten years old and dont feel i should be paying the same rate as someone with a brand new LS430 that comes with more toys and computers than pc world .when i got down to the toyota dealer i asked for discount only to be told they do not do it and £107 will be the price as it is a lexus part and i am paying for quality ,they do a discount for parts if your toyota is more than 6 years old but not lexus .so i get the part open the box and toyota is printed all over the pads ,so lets get this right i have to pay lexus servicing prices to have toyota pads fitted at a toyota garage is it me or is something amiss here surely if i am having toyota parts fitted i can have a toyota tech put them in :duh: .anyway how can they justify £107 for brake pads .Whilst on the subject do's anyone know if the rears are straightforward or do i have to wind the pistons in or anything like that . :D
  23. Bought one of these today of ebay ,had a go on someone else's and got hooked ,should arrive saturday if i am lucky
