If you've not had the car long get it back to the dealer you bought it from and get them to put it right under warranty because it could turn out to be a very expensive problem.
I bought the car privately so that’s not really an option.

Note: The Cruise Control system can also be used in ‘standard’ mode and you have not inadvertently entered this mode have you?
Ooh, where’s this microwave transmitter doofry located?
Normal cruise control mode works as normal, so not that.

For the first week or so of ownership the adaptive cruise control wouldn’t allow me to set the following distance. I assumed I was doing something wrong, but it suddenly started working. Unfortunately, it’s now reverted back to its non working ways.
Anyone else had this issue?

Well, I managed to find one from an ‘08 car that was very nearly a straight swap. I just needed to swap the lcd display or connectors from the one old. I managed to break the old unit in doing so, but it all went swimmingly otherwise. I’ve not managed to get the air vent to fit properly though, I’ll get round to that at some point.
After having the car for 2 weeks, I have absolutely no regrets!- 2

Hi all,
I bought myself a 2008 IS-F today - much better than expected! Pretty much the only thing I want to do is fit the later, black sat nav/stereo. Is it a straight swap?
Thanks in advance,
Owen

Glad you're pleased with them mate. After looking at the pics I'm starting to wish I'd kept them!

There's certainly a lot of road noise at motorway speeds, but I doubt it's down to the tyres as 215s are not very wide.
-
I'm getting a misfire at around 2500rpm. Is it possible it's a coil pack even though there are no warning lights on the dash?
-
Isn't it just held in place by a screw?
-
You say you noticed a difference straight away after getting the geometry done, what did you notice?
As for tyres, I'd go with Eagle F1, I've never heard a bad thing said about them. Toyo T1R are supposed to be a very good budget tyre, but they've got pretty soft sidewalls and don't cope so well with cars weighing 1400kg+
Does anyone find their car to understeer? I've got Dunlop SP Sport 9000s which I had on my old e36 and thought they were amazing, however, I find I get a bit of understeer on the IS200. Is it a handling trait of the IS200 or do I need new boots?

You're quite right, just found that thread a minute ago - http://tinyurl.com/6gttlya. Now I just need to find a knowledgable chap to help me do it! I'm not averse to doing things on the car myself, but I wouldn't really know where to start, even though it's fairly well detailed. Maybe I'll take some man-up pills and give it a go tomorrow.

I thought I'd revive this thread as I discovered this morning that I have the same problem. Did anyone manage to get this resolved?

I've only had mine for a week or so, but I too had a problem with the stereo. Mine didn't give an error, it just wouldn't let me load any cds. I took it apart to see if there were any jammed cds in there, but there weren't. I ended up buying one from eBay, it arrived today but after fitting it wouldn't play cds either! I took it apart and it was an easy fix luckily enough - the plastic cd drawer thingies were jammed.
I think a common fault is the cds getting jammed so I'd definitely have it out and apart to see if that's the problem, or you may have the same problem I had with the latest one which is an easy fix. If you decide you can't be bothered with it and just want to buy another one, be careful as different players have different connectors at the back. I can tell you for sure that the 13903, 13906 and 13909 players are all interchangeable, and the 13905 players have different connectors so they won't work unless you're a dab hand with wiring. The number of your player is just above and to the left of the screen.

I'll try an get sum piks but due to wrk an by the time I'm finished it's alil dark .but If u take ur air box off and on the front on the right is about 22mm oil feed pipe goin into the rocker cover take it out an jus inside is ya filter . Hope this helps alil more .

Alright fella I jus had a p1349 cum up on mine . It's a vvt system malfunction on bank 1 . As I found out by putting a post up on here there's a filter on the OCV ( oil control valve) witch feeds the vvti high lift cam . The filter gets blocked and insufficient oil pressure is reached to the cam . I took mine out and cleaned it . Take the air box off and on the right hand side there's an oil feed pipe at the front ov the engine remove filter and clean and put back togeather . But b4 disconnect the battery so it gives the ecu time to reset . Then put it all back togeather . I got a spare stereo I wrongly purchased frm eBay a while ago didn't no about the codes under the front window ov the stereo( silly me ) the code is 13905 . PM me if interested . Sorry carnt help wiv the rest .
Thanks for that, Phil. Well after 2 days the EML and traction lights are yet to come up, but I'd still like to clean out this filter you mention. I had a quick look today and it doesn't seem too obvious which pipe you're talking about, any chance you could take a few pics?

I attempted to fix the cd player today, unfortunately to no avail. I was expecting to find a cd or 2 stuck in there, but no such luck.
Any stereo gurus out there that can tell what's wrong just by looking at the pics?

Is this even a 6 cd player? I've noticed on some players it says '6 cd changer' where mine says 'RDS'.
-
It may be wise to ignore my advice as I know nothing, but it sounds like you need to remove the stuck cds.
I'm going to tackle this today myself... probably.

The only problem I knew of when I handed over the cash was the keyfob!
I wanted a silver sport and had around £2500 to play with, so my choices were extremely limited. It has 114k on the clock and cost £2400, not too bad I don't think. The problems are only minor so I've no regrets.

Hi all,
I finally bought myself an IS200 yesterday, I'm really pleased with it but it has a few little problems I need to iron out.
It came with only 1 key, and a fairly battered and bruised one at that. I've got my eyes on a new key and have read the procedure for reprogramming it, wish me luck with that!P1349 error code
The EML was on and the TRC light flashing, I've had the code read (obviously) and the P1349 error came up. The guy at the garage just reset the lights and didn't seem to know a great deal about it and said I'd have to just wait until the problem worsens, I don't really fancy that. The car runs absolutely great, definitely no misfire so I'm thinking/hoping it's a blocked filter or something. Anyone had experience with this and manage to solve it?OEM stereo problem, but not the dreaded err3!
When I press 'load' it does a bit of whirring and a few small clicks then goes back to the radio. I've tried hitting the side but strangely it had no effect. I had a quick look at how to remove the unit, but it don't half look involved! Is there anything else I can try before I try taking the thing out?Dipping at the rear
This is by far the most annoying thing. When I put my foot down the car seems to dip to one side at the rear so when I let off I almost need to correct he steering a little. I'm guessing one of the rear dampers has had it, anyone got any other ideas?Front windows
How do I remove the front door cards? There seems to be a bit of play when opening closing the window, obviously nothing major but still an annoyance.Other than that it's fantastic! Mechanically it seems great, no notchiness in the gearbox and the clutch doesn't judder... too much. Cosmetically it's in fairly average condition, no dings or dents but the paintwork is chipped in a few places. I'm passed the days of modding cars, but I do plan to fit a sport grill soon so maybe not quite passed it yet. I did plan on lowering it 20mm or so, but I think it sits just right.

Hello All,
I am looking at spending around £15-£16k on an IS 250 Auto Multimedia Cadoxton Slate paint and Pembroke Leather.
I would be really interested in any user feedback on the car and what to look out for when buying please.
Seems they are very few and far between of this spec.
Many thanks
I'm pretty sure you'd get a better response if you posted this in the IS250 section.

I don't actually have an Is200, yet, but I too am very interested in this. I'd like the car to be lower but maintain the same ride quality, personally I don't see the point of stiff suspension on a car that's as..... erm, slow as an Is200.
As yours in an auto I'm guessing it's not a sport, have you considered buying late sport springs? I think they're 15mm lower, not really a great deal lower I know.

Looks pretty good to me.
If I was a betting man, I'd say that's the SE K810...
-
Hi Richard,
Ok I'll go and have a look tomorrow afternoon sometime, I'll let you know how it goes then.

Hi,
I don't actually have an is200 yet but, I do live near the car in question. If you'd like me to go and have a look at it I'd be more than happy to do so.

Adaptive Cruise Control Issue

Yep, just the distance control. I've given the button a damn good pressing, but to no avail. I'll see I can get the button off and squirt some contact cleaner in there.
Thanks for that, I'll have a look to see if the connection is loose.
