  1. Thanks Janey, thats a great help as thats the sort of thing that i was looking at, think i might have to ring round a few places near me to see what they can do as i was expecting to pay around £200 for it but thought at the end of the day it will be worth it in the end..........i hope!!! lol.......

Just want to try it out and see if its really is worth the pennies in the end!!!

  2. Yeah those are the things!!!!

Well i know for softer fresher paint it would be a must but im thinking of getting the whole car professionally vallet, as in spend a shed load on getting the paint really restored and thought that if im going to the effort of that it might be worth looking into a "car bra" to try and protect it as i spend most of my time on the A12 and theres always crap being thrown up.

Hmmmm think its time for some serious tin-tin-net hunting!!!

  3. Hi all,

With the amount of dual carriage way miles i do i have been thinking it may be worth looking into one of the covers that protects the front from chips........I know they look a sod and the little ones that go on the bonnet dont protect much but i just wondered A) if you can get these for the IS and if they're worth it.......???

    Cheers!

  4. Hi All,

Well after a lot of dual carriage way miles my IS is starting to show some signs of battle scars and its getting me down. The front is starting to loose its shine and dull where stones and general road crud has been chucked up i thought that one way of trying to breathe a bit of life back into her was to get a professional vallet done and get them to get some proper stuff on it.

I regularly wax and polish it myself with Meguiars products but wondered if anyone else had taken their car for a professional vallet and what their thoughts on it was.........

.....Ideally i want them to go nuts on it and get some compound on the front and get the swirls out which i know wont be cheap but i thought would be worth it in the long run...........

What are your thoughts and advices??

    Cheers!

  5. I have thought about using V-Power as i fill up at shell but cant see the point in the IS as the petrol only goes on travelling down the dual carriageways and im not gona feel much advantage from that!!

Only time i use the higher octane fuel is in my bike as it is noticable in that!!

And BP always seems to be silly prices in comparison to Shell........The shell i fill up at is 109.9 for normal unleaded and the BP is about 112.9 for the same!

I found a receipt from last year and it was when petrol was 87.5.............................made me cry as i though bout how much its gone up!!!

  6. I have been tagged as having an old mans car and also being a daddy mobile and not in the sense of pimp daddy but old daddy! lol......im only 23, have no kids and had it for about 18months now and i still love it! I had a choice of a Civic Type R or the IS200 and driving the 2 although the Civic was a nice racey car if i wana go quick i have my Yam R6 for that, if i wana go in comfort and style......theres only one choice!

Theres something about the comfort and style of the IS200 that really puts a smile on your face and it is always a shock to people when you tell them you have a lexus as most other people my age are still in fiestas and saxos! The knowledge that you have something that bit different and bit special is worth a million and the guys are right jealousy is a cruel misstress!

  7. See im the same im not sure if it would look a bit.....WOW.....so there are the brakes then!!! lol....

I think it looks pretty smart thought just not sure on mine as its granite sky with the dark grey multi spoke alloys so will really stand out behind the wheels.....

  8. I was thinking of beong really outragous and going for Yellow with black decals.......

I like the looks of them on this but didnt know if it would look a bit silly...otherwise was thinking red or possible a bronzy colour.....has anyone painted their calipers white before??

here are a few pics of what i was thinking ??

    Yellow

  9. I am very cautious on tyres as i am also a motorcyclist i know the importance of good rubber, wont have anything but the best on my bike and i always want good tyres on the car too. I think the only complaint ive got is the wet grip of the bridgestones makes me very nervous as it makes both the car and my back end very twitchy........

....Think i might stick to the bridgestones and get the geo sorted and see how it feels from there.....as i have heard that the geo set up changes this somewhat.

To ask a silly wuestion, if the tyres are wearing on the inside edge on the left front and the outside on the right front is this the geo in need of setting up or is this the tracking out???

I know its a daft question but i want to make sure its all sorted....

    Cheers again.

  10. I havent had the geo done yet so thinking that i need to invest in this asap!!

I would ideally like to lower it but cant make my mind up about it yet as i know thats the begining of the end of me keeping this car standard......its been so hard going from my old cars!! lol....

  11. Hi all,

I am in need of 4 tyres the fronts are needed badly and the rears are nearing the end of their life so was going to do all 4 in one go.....

....I have been getting quotes for the Bridgestones that come standard on the car and also Toyo T1-R's as i loved these tyres on my Toyota and thought i would see if they were any cheaper....

...as it turns out they are but one of the garages was going on about Lexus working with tyre manafactures in this case Bridgestone to make the tyre work with the car to reduce road noise etc....now i know that BMW did this with the run flats but is this true with Lexus or is it a bit of a tale and just a line to get me to get the bridgesones over the Toyo's??

    Cheers,

    Matt

  12. Ahhhhh that is where my confusion ends!!! lol.....

Well in that case might have to check the inovit wheels out as i really wanted a set of TE37's like on monster matts drifter but after hearing they wouldnt fit was very disappointed will have to check out what sizes they go upto!!! :)

  13. Ahmet..........did you find that the insurance jumped up a lot when changing from an R6 to the R1 as i am considering looking into a 2007 model R1 in white and red....mmmmm.......(dribbles a bit) lol......
    £60 difference mate! :whistling:

Bennetts is where I got both my policies from ............... the jump from the R6 to the R1 may only seem small on paper, but it's phonomanel (sp?) in actual riding!!

Do it.......... you know you want to ! lol

    try ebikeinsurance.co.uk!

Only £60 difference!!!!! Is that all.............I will defininitely look into it then!! I dont understand insurance as when i was looking for a 600 a year and a bit ago i got a quote for a CBR600rr......£900tpft...........same everything quote for the R6............£500...........so i thought sod that and got the R6.

I think i will wait until the end of the year and see about getting the R1 as the new model will be out and will then touch wood have another years NCB to make 3yrs and i'll be 24 so should help on the quote front!

Do you find the R1 as flickable in the corners as i love how manoverable the R6 is but then again if you look at the pic it does look quite a small bike with me on it!!! Doesnt help im over 6ft on a 600!!! lol.....
