  1. Maybe so, but that type of equipment is only as good as the person operating it, and they still seem to employ a load of kids.
  2. You could try using a soft detailing brush to push it through the holes.
  3. You obviously haven't seen the battery physically as it's actually quite big, which is the case with most batteries on cars with stop-start systems.
  4. You will need to disconnect the handbrake electrical connection as a minimum, but i'm not sure if the IS also detects speed to prevent video displaying.
  5. Why should parents & children be privileged to have wider spaces and closer to the store? If it's so that the doors can be opened wider for easier loading and unloading then surely that's indicative of the spaces being too narrow generally. If it's so that they don't have to walk so far to the store, then they should be making better use of their younger legs rather than the OAP's who have to walk 100metres or so.
  6. Modern Skoda's, well at least the Octavia and the Superb, are very nice cars. Every time i'm in one i'm quite impressed. It's just they seem to suffer from the same problem as German models, as soon as you start adding any extra's the price goes through the roof.
  7. You do realise that as soon as you drive down the road with a new air filter it's dirty ? "replace as required" is purely a subjective view based on the mechanic's decision, which is more likely to be driven by dealership bottom line or his\her laziness rather than consideration of the customers 'value for money' In fact the problem with this whole thread is that people will have different standards. Some people will be really happy because they got their car back washed and hoovered and never actually realise that the oil filter was never replaced or that there is excessive play in a ball join that should have been spotted by a mechanic. Others, like above, will notice that the oil has been overfilled which can sometimes lead to damage if not spotted and is just pure negligence on behalf of the dealership when you are paying over £200 for a basic service. I wonder how many people on here check their oil levels after a service, not many I suspect.
  8. LOL........main dealers maybe a little bit better than back street garages, but I have heard of as many horror stories from main dealers as i have from back street garages. I don't trust any garage and it pains me to have to take my car for servicing, but i take it to the main dealer as they are likely to be aware of any model specific issues. With the prices that Lexus charge i don't think they should be 'just checking' the basic items(filters etc) but changing them as a matter of course.
  9. Anybody else notice that the IS200T F-Sport comes fully loaded including ML now ?
  10. So you've posted in the wrong forum, however......... You cannot just tap that pulley back on it's supposed to be bonded to the rest of the dampener. The symptoms you are now seeing is because it's most likely slipping on the circumference of the inner piece. Replace the harmonic dampener and all will be well :)
  11. To be honest how many people who get in a Prius Taxi would notice if the hybrid battery was knackered and the car was constantly using it's petrol engine? Sorry Ratez i don't know the normal lifespan of the hybrid battery, hopefully others who have been around on this, or maybe the Toyota forum, longer can proffer some advice.
  12. I had exactly this dilemma before i bought my IS300h, but when i drove both back to back the decision was easy for me. There are no known issues with the hybrid drivetrain generally, but you're correct to worry that in many years to come the battery may need to be replaced. The F-Sport has quite a few styling differences between the other models, including F-Sport wheels, LFA Inspired dash, sports seats, etc. Also you may want to consider if the IS300h has less road tax in your country compared to the IS250, due to lower CO2 emissions, because this can significantly contribute to lower running costs.
  13. You've posted in the wrong section. This forum is for the 3rd gen IS
  14. Maybe you need to find a dealer who has another RC-F and do back-to-back test drives to see if it is just your car.
  15. Which in translation means......they forgot to plug it in but didn't want to admit that
  16. That is a very nice colour combination Congratulations and wish you many miles of happy motoring !
  17. You will get used to Rayaans pointless comparisons
  18. A software update to fix a mechanical noise ? Next people will be saying it fixes a lack of fuel !
  19. Maybe it's the synthetic engine noise coming through the speakers (ASC). Try turning it down and see if you hear the same thing still. Don't bother with a software update, no way that could be related.
  20. And the first RC-F for under £40k is now listed: http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RC/RC-F/5.0/Reading/4186991-606045953-1607073.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_
  21. RC is only 25kg heavier than IS (F-sport) so will only make a slight difference. I have driven both and performance is very similar. I honestly feel the RC performance in 300h guise is a bit underwhelming for what is a very sporty looking coupe.
  22. So that would be a 94bhp increase over stock by doubling the boost pressure, whilst at the same time i'm pretty sure your car didn't have a standard exhaust and i know you say you tried different air filters at various times as well. Believe me look at the cars in my signature and you know I have similar knowledge of tuning turbo cars, and the biggest restriction is always the breathing. I'd be very surprised if that TDI box can give the claimed increase purely from tuning and not require other items to be changed. Also if you look on the US forums none of them are claiming anything like that level of increase on their RC200t's and they usually are more willing to tune and fiddle. However if somebody proves my suspicions wrong I would be very interested as i'd most likely swap my IS300h for an IS200t or RC200t as I think one of those with 300bhp (ish) would make for a good driving car. :)
  23. Sorry but i'm raising the BS flag on that one until such time as I see pictorial proof. Apart from the bean counters not letting it happen how many 2.0 engines do you know of that run two turbo's ? On the +55BHP i think it's unlikely from just a tune, but if you change the air filter and remove a CAT or change the exhaust as well as a tune then should be possible.
  24. Not to be confused with Torque Developments International That is a bold claim +55BHP from just a re-tune. Would love to see it proven, or disproven, whatever the case may be.
