  1. No problem with Android Auto (running Coolwalk) in my NX. It could be related to your USB cable - maybe try a different one and see what happens. (NB. if you're using "wireless" Android Auto via a dongle don't forget that there is still a cable being used).
  2. There is indeed a mechanical override should the battery go flat. Instead of pushing on the handles with your thumb, there is a lever that you need to pull on twice to open the door. As an aside - I find the new fangled handles very intuitive and easy to get used to. In fact, I find myself trying to open doors in other cars the same way 🙄
  3. Excuse my ignorance here (or possibly naivety) but when talking about the difference between car manufacturing plants in Japan and other parts of the world, is it "just" the ability to construct a car from a multitude of component parts that we are comparing here? Am I right to assume that the majority of the parts that go into making a car are identical regardless of whether my NX, for example, was built in Japan or Canada (i.e. the parts are sourced from the same manufacturers)? And therefore the "only" difference is the skill, quality control standards and the extra attention to detail that Japanese car workers aspire to when putting all these parts together? Surely Lexus Japan and Lexus Canada share identical component parts. [I realise though that other aspects of the manufacturing process such as the quality of paint application; etc. can be specific to location and even individual workers\robots.] Anyway, from my point of view, it may or may not be a myth that Lexus cars built in Japan are put together better - but I'm glad that mine was built there.
  4. Shipping normally takes about 4 weeks. It then depends on how long they have the car at the Toyota \ Lexus preparation centre at Derby. My NX350h was there for another 4 weeks. So you may be looking at 8 weeks in total (probably worst case scenario).
  5. The look of the UI has changed slightly. In a nutshell, the display is now split into 2 "tiles" - a larger one for your navigation app (Google Maps; Waze; etc.) and a slightly smaller one for your music player (Spotify; YouTube Music; etc.). The music player tile now displays the album art more prominently (albeit with some "Material You" colouring embedded on top which I'd rather not have). On the right of the tiles you will find shortcuts to your most frequently used apps. You can also run Google Maps fullscreen. It's also easier to read and respond to WhatsApp messages; etc. Additionally, if you go into your Android Auto settings on your phone and see an option to enable "Taskbar widgets" then you have it. If you google "Coolwalk" you'll see loads of images of it and how to use it. Hope this helps.
  6. I agree. Would be nice to have this "hide" option extended to when Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is active. I very rarely use these particular climate settings so for me it's wasted screen real estate most of the time. Never gonna happen though 😔
  7. I see that they are also going to extend the highlight colours to more of the interior trim (glove box; door panels; etc.). I'd need to see this in reality but I'm not sure the interior needed any more of this (at least not in my chosen option of Black & Rich Cream).
  8. The reason I don't like Apple products is the fact that they "lock down" the entire operating system so that you can't make even small and trivial changes to how they function. Android products on the other hand are much more customisable (via the Settings or third party apps). I realise that this can potentially make them more vulnerable to malicious software and malware if you don't know what you're doing but you just need to be vigilant and use approved apps on the Google Play Store. For example, we bought an expensive iPad for my 4 year old grandson who likes to watch YouTube Kids. This app has an inbuilt volume slider that you can't disable through the app's settings (don't get me started on that! 😡). So guess what? The little blighter is always moving the slider to full volume, so it's a constant battle with him to get the volume down to more tolerable levels. There's also no way (as far as I could see) to set a maximum speaker volume through the iPad settings. So I thought I'd check the Apple app store to see if a third party app exists to do this but couldn't find a single one. So when it came to buying a second tablet for him to use at home, we went down the Android route (a Samsung) where there are numerous apps in the Play Store that allow you to restrict the volume - so no more "turn it down Adam!" 😄 I think Apple products are primarily for people who aren't necessarily techy and just want the device to work "straight out of the box" without any tinkering. I don't have an issue with that but for me I like the ability to make some tweaks to improve the user experience a bit more. I have to admit though that Apple products are on the whole more aesthetically pleasing.
  9. No dimming on my 1 year old NX350h. I agree with others about the effect of sunlight though - especially during these winter months when the sun is relatively low in the sky. I also find that the HUD is dimmer when I'm stuck in traffic behind a white high-sided vehicle like a van, which makes the "backdrop" bright and therefore the colour contrast with the HUD graphics is affected.
  10. Unfortunately the new NX does not currently support wireless Android Auto - at least not in the UK (possibly due to a licensing issue). It may be enabled in the future via an OTA software upgrade but there's been nothing from Lexus UK to suggest that's on the horizon. Myself and others on here have managed to get a flavour of wireless AA by purchasing the AAWireless dongle (as mentioned in this thread and in other threads on this forum).
  11. Just gave them a call and the guy I spoke to hadn't heard of this offering at all. He put me on hold for a few minutes while he checked with colleagues but the answer came back the same. All he could do was suggest that I speak to my local dealer about it - to which I explained that I believe it's a Lexus Insurance initiative rather than the dealers. Anyway, not wishing to labour the point, I left it there. C'est la vie.
  12. Hmmm.... that may be the case. I'll give them a call today and report back.
  13. Thanks to @PeterI and @StGeorge for their feedback on the unit. I haven't received anything from Lexus Insurance about this (even though I renewed with them a few days ago) so I might give them a call to see if I can get one too. May I ask a bit more about the device setup please? Am I right in saying that you need to plug the fob into the USB socket to start the car? If so then does it leave you with one less USB socket for other things? And is it the USB-A socket that gets used? Apologies if I'm barking up the wrong tree here.
  14. So Android Auto works when you connect the phone to the car via a cable? If so then that is good and is all that Lexus offers with regards to Android Auto functionality as your car's head-unit does not support wireless AA. The only way to achieve something very similar to wireless is to purchase the AAWireless dongle (or something similar like the Motorola MA1) as suggested by others on here. I used it in my 2018 NX and it was perfect. Basically the dongle is plugged into the car's USB port. Your phone then connects to the dongle wirelessly (so no need to plug the phone in every journey).
  15. @Kv_pat It looks like you have the set-up correct on the car's head-unit so I'm thinking that the problem may lie with the phone. What model of smartphone are you using to connect to the car? Is it running the latest Android operating system and the current version of the Android Auto app? What errors\messages are you seeing on the phone when you try to connect to the car? Have you tried connecting the phone to another Android Auto-enabled car?
  16. I believe that it should be possible to upgrade your car to have Android Auto \ Apple CarPlay. My previous NX was a 2018 on a 18 plate (Luxury with Premium Navigation - registered in July 2018) and it got the upgrade. I must admit that I did the upgrade myself, using instructions that other forum members posted on here (although please note that I don't recommend you go down this path as you could possibly "brick" your car's head-unit which can cost £thousands to replace - as happened for one or two people on here) but I followed the same process that a dealer would follow. If your NX has the larger 10.3 inch screen then I can see no reason why it can't be upgraded. I'm not sure how a licence key can be on "back order". It's not like a physical part that needs to be manufactured and shipped. Isn't it just a sequence of numbers that can be generated almost instantaneously? Sounds to me like your dealer can't be bothered to do this (free - so no financial incentive for them) upgrade and are fobbing you off. The upgrade can be quite time consuming and laborious, especially if your car's system is a few software releases behind, so maybe they don't want to do it.
  17. I agree Ken. After a few weeks of the app working fine - for both "last parked location" and driving analytics info - I thought that maybe Lexus had sorted it. However in recent days it has gone back to it's bad old ways. With regards to the "last parked location", I find that more often than not it reports the time and location of when the last journey commenced rather then when it ended. Seems like the car reports it's location when the car is started but not when it's turned off. I have never used any of the other features of the app (such as remote defrost\heating; lock\unlock; etc.) so I don't view it's functionality (or lack of) as critical to my otherwise complete satisfaction with the car itself.
  18. @Mobeam I mean no disrespect to the contribution to this thread made by @PB1642 but seeing that you are - by your own admission - not technically minded, I would suggest that you try the resolution I have detailed first. In the (almost) 12 months that I have owned my NX I have had this pop-up appear twice and on both occasions I have managed to get rid of it by pressing Continue and then logging in. I can't guarantee that it won't come back in the future (only Lexus technical staff can fix it permanently I guess) but it should give you some respite for a fair while.
  19. It works for me. Pressing Cancel isn't a permanent fix for me - the pop-up will simply be displayed again in a few minutes. Obviously I don't attempt to log in while driving. I just leave the pop-up box on screen until my journey is over and then log in.
  20. I have had this issue a few times. Not sure why it happens but it may be due to some kind of connectivity issue with the Lexus servers. Even if you hit Cancel the pop-up will reappear again in a short while. What fixes it for me is to hit Continue. You will then be presented with a browser window asking you to log in. Enter the email address and password that you use to log in to the Lexus Link app or the MyLexus website and you should be good to go.
  21. The email I received also stated that they will have a few 350h cars available for delivery at other times throughout 2023... April - NX350h F Sport Takumi Panoramic Roof - Graphite Black / Black July - NX350h F-Sport Premium Plus Pack with Panoramic Roof - Sonic Grey / Red August - NX350h - Velvet Black / Black (actual trim\specification not stated) September - NX350h Premium Pack Lexus Link Pro - Graphite Black / Black Thought I'd mention it, just in case.
  22. Just a heads-up for anyone on here who is at a relatively early stage of the ordering process (and could maybe claim back any deposit\commitment they have with their current dealer)..... My local dealer (Lexus Woodford) has just emailed me to say that they have two NX450h+ available immediately, stating the following... "The models below are available to purchase from Lexus Woodford until the end of this week. These are currently allocated to our dealer but will be going out to everyone else in the country from this Saturday. " NX450h+ Premium Pack Lexus Link Pro - Sonic Titanium / Black NX450h+ Premium Pack Lexus Link Pro - Sonic White / Dark Rose They also state that they have other NXs available for delivery in April and July. Maybe these are all cancelled orders?
  23. Thanks for the heads-up on this Peter. My 2022 NX is insured with Lexus Insurance so I'll be interested to hear if they will extend the same offer to me. Please keep us informed on how it works out. @Bluemarlin - with regards to the cost of their premiums, I didn't find them any more expensive compared to my previous insurer's renewal quote or anything offered by the online comparison sites so I took the plunge. It's up for renewal next month so we'll see what happens then with regards to cost comparison as to whether I renew. Obviously insurance premium costs are very subjective so your experience may vary.
  24. Yes, there have been reports of this on the US Lexus owners forum too. Reports on there also of the door locks freezing.
  25. I have been monitoring the fuel flap issue since it first came to light on here a while back and have noticed that the force with which it pops open has been reducing over time. Finally, when I came to fill up a couple of days ago it failed to open. I managed to get it open via the lever in the boot so not a total disaster. The car is going in for it's first service in a few days so I will mention it to the dealer then and see what transpires.
