Thanks Ken. I'll give that a try. -

Hi Ken, can you elaborate please? Are you saying that you enabled these features via the Navigation settings rather than via Info and Security? -

Yep, same for me guys. No matter how often I enable the Connected Services they get disabled again when I next start the car. So at the moment, a software upgrade which delivered little or no tangible improvement or enhanced functionality (from my point of view anyway) has currently removed one function that I found at least half useful (i.e. the trip recording). -

Just been out to the car and the same settings were disabled as described by @hintonwood I enabled these settings and all appears to be OK again (the Lexus Link+ app is now reporting the car's correct location and I assume that my journeys will be recorded again). Looks like the recent software upgrade was to blame for disabling the Connected Services settings. -

Thanks for pointing this out Ken. I'll check the settings on my car and see if that fixes it for me too. -

I had the software upgrade on Tuesday. Since then none of my journeys have been recorded in the Lexus Link+ app and the "find my car" facility is not working either. Both worked fine before the upgrade. Anyone else having the same issues? -

I agree. Here's my wishlist:- Turn by turn directions shown in the HUD when using Google Maps via Android Auto. Some indication in the HUD when my NX350h is in EV mode (maybe the speed indicator turns green or something like that?). The ability to hide the first row of HVAC controls when using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (similar to how it works for the native map screen). Would be nice to utilise the full screen real estate for AA. Split screen functionality in the native multimedia system. Having the option to view both map and audio at the same time might tempt me away from AA. I doubt I'll see any of this come to pass during my term of ownership of the car, if ever. -
Need Help and Advice on Leather Seat
Andy B replied to S Dhuper's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Similar to @Ken R who replied earlier, I have had my NX350h for nearly 2 years (and 11,500 miles). There is some very slight wear on the driver's seat but it's nothing more than what I would deem acceptable for a car of that age and mileage. I definitely wouldn't expect to see the issues you are experiencing with a 5 month old car. You should definitely pursue this with Lexus. -

I believe that some owners in Europe and North America have received an OTA software update for the Infotainment system. Nothing for my car yet though. From what I gather, it's not a major upgrade. A YouTuber in Canada posted the following:- -
I can't help you with regards to the "native" audio interface when connecting the phone to the Infotainment system via USB as I have never done that. However, what I would say is that maybe now's the time to use Android Auto, seeing that you are connecting up the phone anyway. That way you could install one of the numerous MP3 player apps (that allow you to play local music files on your phone) and "mirror" it to the car via Android Auto. The interface will be a lot more logical and usable. The player app I use, and would recommend, is Poweramp. If you still wish to use the Lexus Infotainment system primarily (for the satnav for example), it's quite easy to switch between that and AA (in fact I think I'm right in saying that the Lexus audio interface can show you what's playing via AA).

I'm on my second NX hybrid and have never "fiddled" with the various driving modes - I just simply keep it in normal mode all the time and let the car do the thinking. I've averaged around 45 MPG over the years this way. What might be more useful for you is to research the best driving style to get the maximum MPG such as "hypermiling"; coasting and regenerative braking. There are numerous posts on these topics to be found on this forum and the internet in general.

Just to add a little nugget of information to the discussion around how well (or not) Lexus are advertising the availability of the protection plate for the RX...... When I was booking in my NX online for it's forthcoming annual service (since COVID my local dealer has employed an automated locker system to drop off the key), I noticed that alongside the usual extras that they try to sell you on the booking website (air con re-gen; mud-flaps; etc.) there was an option to have the plates fitted (should your car be an RX) with a description along the lines of "enhanced protection for your RX". Obviously this relies on the owner choosing to book in their car online (assuming their dealer uses this method) and actually noticing the option.

Insurance renewal - pleasant surprise
Andy B replied to BillSt's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Just had my renewal quote from my insurer (Lexus Motor Insurance) and it has risen from £303 last year to £431. Not too bad I guess - all things considered. Especially so when you bear in mind that the comparison sites (and the usual suspects that don't appear on these sites) were all returning quotes over £1,000. In light of that, I have renewed with them. -
I have used Carista on my NX350h to change settings with no issues.

With regards to the point you make @Hayzee regarding unwanted tracking and the safety measure built into the system to prevent, for example, stalking, etc., there are ways to circumvent this - which I won't go into on this forum (and which I definitely don't condone for other, more nefarious, uses of these devices).

I have 2 Samsung SmartTags (the Android equivalent to Apple's AirTags) hidden in my NX350h. Their location (and therefore that of the car) can be pinpointed via the accompanying Samsung SmartThings app on my phone (and only my phone). Overall they work very well albeit they rely on other Samsung smartphones in their vicinity to detect them and report their location to Samsung's central server, so coverage can be a bit patchy. I'm not suggesting that they are a real alternative to the bespoke car trackers on the market but I'm hopeful that they could help me to find the car (to within a street or two) should the worst happen. Only time will tell I guess.

Like a few others on here, I have been using the AAWireless dongle to connect my Android phone to Android Auto "wirelessly" and it does the job perfectly so this may be the solution for your partner's phone. Furthermore, if you purchase the 2nd generation of the dongle, there is currently a beta program ongoing which will hopefully enable it to also work with Apple CarPlay in the near future. So in theory you'll only need the one dongle between you. https://www.aawireless.io/carplay

The insurance renewal for my NX350h comes up in the middle of February - I'm currently with Lexus Insurance - so I'm waiting with trepidation as to what the renewal price will be. I had an email from the AA a few days ago advertising their car insurance (I have home insurance with them) so I thought there's no harm in getting an online quote. I couldn't quite believe the price that came back - £2,717 😲 (Full no-claims; early 60's in age; retired; 6,000 miles per year; car kept in garage overnight; fairly safe neighbourhood). I'm guessing that they didn't really want to insure me (or more likely, the car).

Here's my list (quite varied I think considering that I've only ever had a driving licence to drive automatics). There may be one or two gaps in this list as I've had so many cars over the years that I've lost track. Vauxhall Viva (the car I learnt to drive and pass my test with) Ford Capri (with "go faster stripes" 😀) Nissan Silvia (with the pop-up headlights 😎) Peugeot 406 Coupe 2 x Lexus IS250 Mercedes SLK Porsche Boxster 986 Porsche Boxster 987 S Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4s Porsche 911 997 Carrera S Nissan Micra (don't ask 😀) Mercedes CLS 2 x Kia Sportage Lexus NX300h Lexus NX350h I owned the Porsches when I was in my early 40s and everyone joked that I was having a mid-life crisis 😀 but in fact the real reason was that that was the period of my life when I could start to afford such luxuries. My biggest regret was that I allowed myself to get too paranoid about using them as a daily driver (e.g. parking them in supermarket car parks; driving them in bad weather; etc.) that I never got to enjoy them fully (plus they never got to see a track day). The Nissan Micra on my list was acquired from my late father to use on a daily basis with the Porsche kept in the garage and reserved for "special occasions". Choosing which car to use at the time was like going from the sublime to the ridiculous!

I guess one option would be to use the gift card to purchase items from Amazon AU for your son (and his family and possibly other trusted individuals?) in Australia over the forthcoming months until the card value is drained. You could seek recompense from them for each purchase in some way (electronic or otherwise). I realise that's a bit of a faff but it would work. Now whether your son is willing, or indeed able, to stump up another $600 for the planned Christmas present is another matter.

The dealership called, they expect me to buy a new Lexus 🤷
Andy B replied to e-yes's topic in Lexus ES 300h Club
Same here Ken - I have had my NX350h for just under 2 years on a 36 month PCP deal (so still 14 months to run). I've had 2 emails recently (one from Lexus Financial Services and one from Lexus UK itself) stating that as the end of my agreement is "on the horizon" (must be a faraway horizon 😉) I might be looking to change/upgrade. Anyway, I'm definitely not looking to change my car until the PCP deal ends, at the earliest. Furthermore at that point I might reluctantly look at other brands if Lexus don't sort out all these theft vulnerability issues that exist currently. -
About to buy a 350h
Andy B replied to Bradders67's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I agree with everything that has been said here already. I've had my NX350h for nearly 2 years now and have zero regrets. MPG is currently 48.5 from new. Just to add..... don't be put off by any car journalists or YouTubers complaining about the newfangled door handles or the gear shifter - you will get used to them very quickly.
