  1. Hi @Nico72 Congratulations on the purchase of your NX - it looks very nice indeed. To answer your questions:- As far as I know, there have been no reports of CAT thefts from NX's - on this forum at least. From what I can gather the CATs are not easily accessible (there are previous threads on this subject on the forum so feel free to have a browse of those). I'm not even sure if a CATLOCK device has been created for the NX. It looks like your NX is a pre-facelift version meaning that it is not possible to have the Android Auto or Apple Carplay retrofit from Lexus. Other Lexus owners on here have tried various aftermarket solutions, but with mixed success. Again, might be worth doing a search for these threads on the forum. Hope this helps.
  2. Ooooh! Very exciting. I wonder if now that we have a date for the reveal in June, it's likely that Lexus dealers will have the new NX in their showrooms and be taking orders before the end of the year.
  3. At first glance the new offering seems pretty good to me - obviously only for those owners who have their car serviced at a Lexus dealer. I assume that the T&Cs for Lexus Relax (in respect to what's covered and what isn't) are the same as those for the first 3 years warranty. If so, then it's another advantage of Lexus dealership servicing.
  4. Hi @Shahid NX300h I have a 2018 NX and there are no beeps when locking\unlocking the car - just the metallic-sounding clang of the door locks operating. Was the YouTube video recorded overseas? There are countries (e.g. the US) where regulations allow for such beeps.
  5. An update on the AAWireless device.... I finally received it 2 days ago and have installed it in my NX. Installation and setup on the phone is very straightforward using the companion App (available on the Google Play Store). The device plugs into the car's USB port via the supplied cable and the phone then connects to it to run Android Auto wirelessly - no need to connect the phone to the USB port every time you get in the car. The device is small enough to fit in the NX's centre console so is hidden away. Connection and activation time is approximately 45 seconds which in my opinion is more than acceptable. Everything (navigation; audio; steering wheel controls; etc.) functions just as well as wired AA. I realise it's still early days so will post a further update in a week or so. More information on the product can be found at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless plus there are a few reviews of it on YouTube (search "AAWireless").
  6. Phil - think about the 4 letters that have been replaced by asterisks 😉
  7. Don't hate me Malc 😉 I worked in IT for all those 40 years so never went near a branch or did any actual banking (ethical or unethical). My conscience is clear 🙂
  8. I use a similar app called TomTom Amigo. It can be configured to start up when your phone makes it's Bluetooth connection to the car. Gives clear warnings when approaching cameras or in an "average speed zone". Have been using it for a few years now and it hasn't let me down yet (famous last words). They recently added Android Auto support for it too so can be used as your Sat-Nav option if you wish, however I still prefer Google Maps for that.
  9. I personally hope not John. They are paying my pension (40 years service) and I have a future 2022 model NX to pay for 😀
  10. No problem Brent. Yes, I think that deleting the app's cache may clear all your settings - including your liked songs. Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
  11. Another option would be to download an album from Spotify to your phone (assuming you have the required Spotify account privileges to do this). Then play that album in your car via AA and see if you still get the "offline" issues. In theory, playing Spotify music stored on your phone shouldn't need any internet so that could possibly prove or disprove the poor network coverage theory.
  12. Hi Brent. Spotify being reported as "offline" would normally suggest that your mobile phone has (temporarily) lost connectivity to the internet, maybe due to poor network coverage at that specific location - please note that Android Auto running on your car's infotainment system is merely mirroring what's running on your phone. When you get this issue, have you checked your phone's network connection to see whether it is "online" (i.e. make a call or use another app)? It could be due to a problem with the phone or your network provider. Another thing you could try is to use a different USB cable to connect the phone to the car. Edit: just to add that the issue could be due to the Spotify app installed on your phone. Maybe uninstall it and re-install or at least clear the cache for it.
  13. The MoneySavingExpert website (Financial expert Martin Lewis' site) suggests that the optimum time to start looking around for car insurance quotes is 3 weeks before your renewal date. Supposedly it works because insurers' risk tables show those who get new insurers' quotes earlier are a lower risk. I'll definitely put this to the test next time around.
  14. The one that really irks me is when people write "of" instead of "have", i.e. "could of"; "would of". I genuinely think that these people believe that that's the way to say\write it. You see it everywhere on social media. I guess that in a few decade's time that will indeed be the way it's officially written and taught.
  15. Hi Les, I'm still waiting for my AAWireless device (i.e. from the Indiegogo start-up project) to be delivered. Inevitable teething problems with the first units, plus the global microchip shortage, have delayed things a little. I'm hopeful of getting it sometime in May, at which time I will report back on it's worthiness/compatibility with Lexus head-units.
  16. The answer for this can be found here:
  17. Are you referring to the volume of the voice prompts from, for example, Google Maps or the Google Assistant? If so then this is controlled by the default volume control set within the Lexus Infotainment system itself. To adjust this: Press the "Menu" button on the touchpad Select "Setup" Select "Voice" on the sub-menu Change the "Voice volume" value to your preference Hope this helps.
  18. Hello again Barry. I have very limited knowledge of Safari I'm afraid but did find the following which may help you.... https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6529640 Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
  19. Hi Barry. [If using the manual stored on your PC] I find it much easier to open the PDF version of the manual in a web browser (in my case, it's Google Chrome) rather than, say, Adobe Reader. Note:- you can change the default opening application for the manual PDF by right-clicking it in Windows Explorer and amending the "Open with" setting. When opened in Chrome I can do the following:- Search for a specific word, or string of words, by pressing CTRL-F and typing the search term in the pop-up window Go straight to a specific page in the PDF by overwriting the current page number in the top bar of the browser with the required page number and then pressing enter I assume that the default Microsoft browser has similar shortcuts. Hope this helps.
  20. "Not my words, Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine!" - Alan Partridge circa 1997 [Sorry, I couldn't resist it 😉 ]
  21. Hi Richard, I have the following child seat in my NX for my 18 month old grandson. https://uk.joiebaby.com/product/i-spin-360/ It's an ISOFIX model but so far (after being in place for 18 months) there are no dents or damage to the NX seat. The floor support holds the child seat in such a way as to raise it above the car seat so it doesn't actually come into contact with it (i.e. it's not resting on it). It's one of those "swivel" models so is easy to get the child in and out. Suitable forward facing from 15 months all the way up to 4 years. Quite pricey though if I remember correctly. Hope this helps.
  22. Another little victory for the good guys:- https://www.mynewsdesk.com/uk/metpoliceuk/news/police-operation-to-stop-thefts-of-catalytic-converters-423914
  23. All the best Phil. Thanks for your technical support and heads-ups with regards to map updates; etc. over the years.
  24. I have this one in my NX:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Novline-Tailored-Rubber-Boot-Liner-for-Lexus-NX-14-20-Pet-Protector-Dog-Mat-Tray/261885160329 It's a perfect fit however it does tend to scratch quite easily. On the plus side it could be mistaken for a Lexus branded one due to the embossed "L" markings that look very similar, if not identical, to the Lexus "L" 😛
  25. I quite like the new AA split screen - much better than the previous display which in my opinion had too much wasted space. As far as I know there isn't the option to turn it off I'm afraid.
