  1. Just reviving this thread as like @Marlinleg I too have a new NX on order and wondered what I should be looking at to protect the paintwork and keep it looking like new and easy to keep clean; etc. I'm not having any exterior or interior preparation done by my Lexus dealer prior to sale such as Supagard (or whatever they call it now) as I am led to believe that this type of work is only as good as the person applying it so would want to have that done by a professional, if at all. Ed - May I ask what type of coating you have used in the past? Also, are there any DIY alternatives that I could apply myself? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi Nick. I had something similar happen to me with my 2022 NX order. The app lost the "Owned" and "Purchased" tabs under the "My Garage" section and the new car then appeared under the "My Garage" page (now without tabs) alongside my existing (2018) NX. So this is what may happen for you too.
  3. I agree - I don't attach any blame on my dealer. I think they are being let down by inaccurate or inconsistent information from Lexus UK. I'm getting a 350h in Sonic Grey / Black & Rich Cream interior / Premium Plus Pack.
  4. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you @zanderblue. My NX has been in the UK for 4 weeks now (last 3 weeks in Derby). The dealer was hoping to have it ready for collection today but obviously that isn't going to happen. I'm not sure why it is taking so long to leave Derby. The dealer is going to contact Lexus UK HQ to try to ascertain what the problem is - my car is one of six that they are waiting on. All of the necessary paperwork has been completed as far as I know - I even have the V5C logbook for it. Also, the Lexus Link Connected Services have now been enabled on the car so ironically I can see the car via the Lexus Link app on my phone - such as the short journey that it made around the distribution centre yesterday and when a door is left unlocked 🤨. So near, yet so far.
  5. The new NX will be my first experience of RFs so I'm not sure what to expect. None of the reviews I have read or viewed of the car so far (and I think I've seen them all 😄) have mentioned any adverse impact on the car due to the RFs - quite the opposite in fact with reviewers saying how quiet the car is and how nicely it drives. I'm not overly concerned about punctures because, as others have said, they are extremely rare (famous last words). I'm prepared to give the RFs the benefit of the doubt for now but if I don't like them, or get a puncture in one early on, I will swap them out for standard tyres and carry a spacesaver.
  6. As well as the marinetraffic site mentioned in previous replies, as the ship gets nearer to Portbury you can view it's estimated arrival date and time using the port's website at https://www.bristolport.co.uk/shipping/forward-movements Or if it gets rerouted to Southampton (as mine did):- https://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/Live_Information/Shipping_Movements_and_Cruise_Ship_Schedule/Planned_Movements/
  7. My understanding of "Build in progress" is that the production line in Japan has "punched in" my car's specifications and colour, etc. and the build has started. For what it's worth, my car went from "Build in progress" to "Left the factory" in the space of 3 days. As a guess I would say that in your case, the build has completed but the car hasn't moved onto the next phase, i.e. been loaded onto a ship for its journey to the UK. Just a guess though.
  8. I think you might be right Don - a shortage of car transporter drivers. Might explain why my NX has been stuck at Derby for 2 weeks. My dealer says that they are expecting to receive it on Monday so fingers crossed.
  9. Yeah, I feel your pain. So frustrating. I ordered mine on the 1st September and will hopefully be collecting it next week.
  10. I think that date is likely to slip unfortunately. From my experience with my order, even if your order was to change to "Build in progress" today you're still looking at another couple of months at least for delivery, maybe longer. And that's if everything goes smoothly.
  11. I put a deposit down for one on the 1st September but the build of it didn't start until 4th December.
  12. A ship containing my NX (and I would assume a few more) docked at Southampton on the 7th January. If I do indeed get my car by the 5th February (as forecast) it would have taken almost as long to get to me from Southampton as it did to come across from Japan 😕
  13. I spoke to my dealer yesterday to get an update on my order and was told that they aren't expecting to get any demonstrators until sometime in February. On a more positive note, they are expecting my car to be ready for me to collect in the first week of February.
  14. @pawex If you are sure that the email address is the same between the app and that held under the order then please note the following... The status of new orders on the app is found via the "My Garage" section - this can be accessed by selecting the icon found on the top right of the app's Home screen (looks a bit like a house); then select the "Purchased" tab. Alternatively you can also check the status of any order via the following website so it might be worth checking there also. https://www.lexus.co.uk/my-lexus/ Hope this helps.
  15. And they say that cars are bad for the planet 😀 https://www.autoevolution.com/news/lexus-nx-is-a-crucial-vehicle-in-saving-the-world-in-space-epic-movie-moonfall-179179.html https://www.lexus.com/moonfall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaTLlimUrL0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivIwdQBlS10
  16. That's good news @zanderblue Looks like you could be one of the very first to own the new NX in the UK. Hopefully I won't be too far behind - Lexus Link app stills shows mine at Portbury.
  17. There is an ongoing thread on the US Lexus owners club site pertaining to these potential teething problems:- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-2nd-gen-2022-current/978679-2022-nx-2nd-generation-1st-year-problems.html I'm following this with interest but not overly concerned yet.
  18. I'm guessing that the 17 days wait time wasn't helped by the Christmas and New Year holiday period. I had an email from Lexus this morning stating that my 2022 NX had arrived in the UK and was now at the "In transit" stage (i.e. on to the way to my dealer via Derby). I pretty much knew this already as I had been following it's journey from Japan by boat via the marinetraffic.com website and app (it was quite interesting following it - if you like that kind of thing 😀). The journey took 4 and a half weeks in total and stopped at Singapore and Livorno (Italy) before finally arriving in the UK (at Southampton in fact, rather than Portbury). Will be interesting to see how long it takes Lexus UK to get the car ready for collection. I'm thinking 3 weeks, worst case scenario 🙏
  19. Given the intervening Christmas and New Year holiday season (as you have alluded to) and possible staff absences due to COVID, I think it's a bit optimistic to have the car prepared and registered in that time. But, as you say, no harm in chasing them up next week. From what I gather, the ship transporting my car arrived in the UK last night (although it docked at Southampton and not Bristol for some reason) but even so I'm not expecting Lexus UK to have it ready for collection until the end of the month. Anything sooner than that wiill be a bonus. I too have read some reports from early buyers in the US of problems with the alarm going off randomly and other minor issues but I'm not too concerned about this at this stage.
  20. I see that they also do a "suction cup" add-on - which would be an alternative if the magnetic version isn't suitable. https://doordefender.net/door-defender-suction/
  21. I am very careful where I park my car when using multi-storey car parks; supermarket car parks; etc. but as a last resort I use the following product which gives me a bit more peace of mind when parking up and walking away:- https://doordefender.net/ They are very quick and simple to place on the car and don't take up too much room in the boot. They attach with magnets so probably best to test that the door is magnetic before considering buying a pair.
  22. I hope so. Based on the price list referenced above, my NX has gone up by £1,500. Coincidentally, I received a marketing email from my local dealer yesterday saying that "Lexus will be applying a price increase to All-New NX and New ES next year from 1st January 2022." and "Please ensure you do not miss out on the price protection by placing your order with us as soon as you can." So maybe the prices listed in the new brochure won't be applied until then (and for new orders only).
  23. It does seem a bit too good to be true but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Fingers crossed that you hear something positive soon on your order.
  24. I had another email from Lexus this morning to say that the car has now been built and has left the factory. This has been confirmed by the salesperson at my dealers. I've asked them to inform me of the name of the ship it will be coming across on so that I can track it's progress. ETA is the end of January so fingers crossed for that.
  25. I received an email from Lexus this morning to say that my order has changed to "Build in progress" which is encouraging news. The Lexus Link app and the MyLexus website both reflect this. Does anyone on here know how long it typically takes for a build to complete and for the order to move to the next stage?
