  1. Thanks for the heads-up on this Peter. My 2022 NX is insured with Lexus Insurance so I'll be interested to hear if they will extend the same offer to me. Please keep us informed on how it works out. @Bluemarlin - with regards to the cost of their premiums, I didn't find them any more expensive compared to my previous insurer's renewal quote or anything offered by the online comparison sites so I took the plunge. It's up for renewal next month so we'll see what happens then with regards to cost comparison as to whether I renew. Obviously insurance premium costs are very subjective so your experience may vary.
  2. Yes, there have been reports of this on the US Lexus owners forum too. Reports on there also of the door locks freezing.
  3. I have been monitoring the fuel flap issue since it first came to light on here a while back and have noticed that the force with which it pops open has been reducing over time. Finally, when I came to fill up a couple of days ago it failed to open. I managed to get it open via the lever in the boot so not a total disaster. The car is going in for it's first service in a few days so I will mention it to the dealer then and see what transpires.
  4. Touché Herbie 🙂 Missing a bit of imagination - quite possibly. Armed with just a rudimentary knowledge of car electrics - most definitely 🙂 I had a feeling that you might have done more than simply connect it directly to the car battery - I guess I was just thinking out loud. In all seriousness, thank you for your suggestions in regards to installing the device - gives me food for thought.
  5. On the Infotainment system, choose "Settings" then "Vehicle customize" then "Door control" then choose your desired option for the "Auto unlock" setting. This procedure can be seen in practice by watching the "2023 - 2022 Lexus NX Deep Dive Tutorial Part 2" video on YouTube (fast forward to approximately 1:27:31 in the video):- Hope this helps.
  6. All good things come to those who wait 😄
  7. I have had a look at this device, as recommended by @Herbie, but would be slightly concerned that it appears from the description on the website that the device is connected directly to the car's battery via two small wires. Isn't this the first place an experienced thief would look if they were checking to see if the car had a tracker installed? They could then just disconnect it and go on their merry way. Or am I missing something?
  8. I have a garage so the car is usually parked in there overnight and when not in use during the day. I also do the key fob deactivation routine every time I lock it. This all gives me some sense of heightened security. Having said that, I've recently invested in a Samsung SmartTag tracker dongle (Apple do something similar for IOS called AirTags). This small device, which is relatively inexpensive (about £30) compared to purpose-built car GPS trackers (albeit not as foolproof), reports it's location via your own phone (if nearby) or via other Samsung devices that pass near it and can be tracked using the SmartThings app on your Samsung phone. I've hidden it in the car somewhere so hopefully the thief would have a hard time locating it. I'm hoping that it might help me find my car in the scenario where the thief steals it and then parks it up for 24 hours to see if it has a tracker on it before coming back for it. Not sure whether this will work out this way in reality (let's hope I never have to find out) but it's better than nothing. Probably a darn sight more reliable than the "Car Location" facility in the Lexus Link app. Of course I'd rather the would-be thief doesn't steal the car in the first place but at least it might help me to get it back.
  9. On my NX350h with the new Lexus Interface infotainment system there are two options with regards to connecting your phone:- connect to the Lexus infotainment system via Bluetooth (and therefore use the Lexus in-built navigation, media player and phone dialler) via the "Use for phone" and "Use for media" toggles or... choose the "Use for Android Auto" option and use AA (or "Use for Apple CarPlay" if you have an iPhone) [The setup in my NX looks very similar to what is being depicted in the photo you have attached to your initial post so I'm assuming it's the same 2 options in your ES] Therefore if you have selected the second option ("Use for Android Auto") and then disconnect AA, the Bluetooth connection to the infotainment system will not be established unless you go into the Settings and change your selection to option 1. This switch-over is not automatic. Having to manually change this selection every time is obviously quite tedious so you basically have to decide which option you desire and then stick to it.
  10. @CaspaLooks like it's starting to roll out to everyone from today:- https://www.androidpolice.com/android-auto-redesign-rollout-ces-2023/
  11. I would imagine that using wireless Apple CarPlay will also have a detrimental effect on the iPhone battery life similar to wireless Android Auto on an Android phone. I agree with you though on the lack of directions in the HUD when using Google Maps but that's not enough to make me consider switching to the dark side 😄
  12. Are you referring to Google Maps via Android Auto? If so, then an impending update to the Android Auto user interface (codenamed "Coolwalk") allows for Google Maps to run full screen. I have it working on my 2022 NX (I am part of the Android Auto beta program so have Coolwalk enabled already). Hopefully Google will make it available to all users some time soon.
  13. Hi David, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your impending purchase of the NX450h+. I'll try to chip in and answer some of your questions as best I can. No doubt others on here will come along and add to this. 1. I don't have the plug-in version of the NX so can't help much with this one I'm afraid. 2. The new NX comes packed with technology so it can be a bit daunting to get your head around it all at first. It might be worth downloading the user manuals from the Lexus website in advance of collecting the car so that you can have a read beforehand. Also, there are a couple of very comprehensive tutorials on YouTube posted by a Lexus representative in the US that cover every aspect of the car and it's technology. Here are the links to the videos:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6S21RoEq2E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhtcuP-9c1g Some owners on here have experienced technical issues with some aspects of the technology such as user profiles not loading but I personally have not had any of these. The Lexus smartphone app is not the best to be honest but it’s does most of what you want it to do and it’s failings don’t detract from what is a fantastic car overall. There are numerous posts on this forum relating to these issues so feel free to take a look. 3. The Lexus inbuilt Sat Nav is quite good – it’s supposedly integrated with Google’s mapping so should be accurate and up to date. Turn-by-turn directions shown in the HUD are clear and readable. Not sure about whether it shows charging points though. I normally use Android Auto (AA) however as I prefer the user interface, plus you can use Google Maps for navigation. Be aware though that if using Google Maps via AA you do not get turn-by-turn instructions shown in the HUD. Currently the NX does not have wireless AA so you would need to plug your phone into the USB port. Having said that there are a number of dongles on the market that allow you to mimic wireless AA to some extent, meaning that you don't have to plug in your phone every time. I use a device called AAWireless for this and it works very well. There is a similar device available called Motorola MA1. Just search the internet for “wireless Android Auto car adapters” if you want to research these. It’s possible that Lexus will enable wireless AA in the future via an over-the-air software update. Hope this helps.
  14. Not sure if you were referring to the Lexus OTA update or Coolwalk. If it's the latter then I expect it will be released to everyone in the near future. At the moment it's only available to members of the Android Auto beta program which is currently full. They did recently open the program up for new members but then quickly closed it again. Worth keeping an eye on the AA app on the Google Play Store to see it it becomes open again.
  15. Its definitely an improvement I believe. Much better layout and functionality, especially on bigger infotainment screens such as that found In the Gen 2 NX. I can't see myself going back to the Lexus navigation system anytime soon. For example you can now have Google Maps fullscreen which in my opinion makes the Lexus equivalent somewhat redundant.
  16. Not sure to be honest - too soon for me to tell. I very rarely use the native Lexus navigation system anyway as I mainly have Android Auto running (the recent AA user interface enhancement - codenamed Coolwalk - looks great on the 14" screen by the way).
  17. If this happens again and you are on your own, there is a way of manually releasing the flap from within the boot area, as follows:- Open the boot - on the same side as the flap you will see a square cut-out in the boot lining (just above the small netted pocket). Carefully remove this cut-out (using a blunt instrument or a trim removal tool). Put your right hand in the hole and feel for a small lever. Gently pull the lever towards you and prise open the flap with the fingers of your left hand at the same time. Hope this helps.
  18. Updated my 350h on Friday - the speed camera alert functionality appears to be unaffected by the update.
  19. Info for anyone that may be interested.... Just had an email from my local dealer (Lexus Woodford) to say that they have a NX450h+ available which is "ready to collect before the end of this year" and "must be registered by the end of this month". The spec is Premium Pack with Lexus Link Pro - Terrane Khaki with Black Interior. Their contact number is 0208 559 7660.
  20. For me it was approximately 2 months from "being built" to collection..... A few days in the build stage 4 weeks in transit from Japan 4 weeks at Toyota's centre in Derby
  21. No problem Sergio - happy to help. With regards to how to permanently disable the keyless entry system - I would imagine that there is reference to it in the car's manual (assuming that it can indeed be done on a 2017 LC500). Failing that, hopefully another LC500 owner on this forum will be able to help. Be aware though that disabling the system permanently will obviously remove all of the advantages of such a system.
  22. Just to add that there is a way, via the infotainment system, to permanently disable the keyless entry system should you wish to go that far (at least there is a way on my NX and I assume the LC500 has this ability also).
  23. Hi Sergio. Yes, that's correct - the disabling of the keyless entry, via the method you have described, will be undone once you next use the key fob (i.e. the keyless entry system will be re-activated). So yes - you do need to do this every time you lock the car.
  24. My NX350h is currently insured with Lexus Insurance. There were no problems with the registration number even though the car was only a month old at the time. Not sure why they are having problems with your car if other insurers can "locate" it fine. I found that the price they quoted was similar to those from other insurers so I decided to go with them for the same reason that you were contemplating (e.g. genuine Lexus parts and workshops). I've not had the need to claim on the insurance (thankfully) so can't comment on that side of their operation. In my dealings with them I have found their customer service to be average (not great but not bad either) and their customer-facing IT systems seem be on a par with most other Lexus IT systems (if you know what I mean 😉 ).
  25. I too was an early buyer of the Gen2 NX (so must therefore be inexperienced and not knowledgeable) having took delivery of the car in early February. Since then the price of the car has increased by over £6,000 and the PCP interest rate has risen sharply from what I am paying on mine. In the time I have had the car it has performed impeccably and has exceeded my expectations. Admittedly it has been subject to one or two recalls but these have been minor inconveniences compared to the joy and pleasure it has given me. I ordered the car "sight unseen" and well before even a demonstrator car was due to reach our shores, but having owned Lexus cars before, including the Gen1 NX, I was confident that I wasn't taking too much of a gamble. If I could travel back to the time before I ordered it in September 2021 I would do all it again in a heartbeat.
