  1. so wings can fall off planes looks like skill the way he held it on its side before landing..or was it a cunning stunt :winky:
  2. used.. you can by a brand new 250 for under 20k if you ask nicely...they dont advertise this fact..'its not the Lexus thing' .. :shutit:
  3. fancy the 250SR myself...in auto
  4. Its all down to ANPR and the ability of a machine to read your plates. Its not the ability to hit you with a speeding ticket but the ability to process thousands of number plates per hour throwing up all those un-insured drivers, stolen vehicles, drug dealers and criminals who use the roads..... If you look at the wider picture you will perhaps realise the method behind the so called madness....and the importance of it. If you are big enough to drive / ride around with illegal plates you are big enough to pay the fine..no sympathy im afraid..
  5. Even Gordon wouldn't devise a scheme where the tax varied according to when you bought the vehicle. Or would he? that was my blonde moment a few posts up..for a minute i thought it was the date of purchase ....rather than registration.....clearly that would be nuts...wouldnt it
  6. To be honest I thought the tax rises were harsh, but on new cars at least people know about them and can change their buying decision appropriately. But ripping people off on cars as much as 7 years old (2001) was just disgusting. Spot on. I think the crucial date is 24 March 2006. If you bought an IS200 before then it went into Band F. If you bought a car on or after the it went into Band G (new banding with a punitive rate --- you knew what you were getting into.) Hopefuly Band F will continue at c. £210 EDIT... having blonde moment
  7. Lexus are doing 4k off the list price across the range so they may well match it
  8. Branksome is in Poole :winky: loads of lexus owners in the area however
  9. sue 'em...the advert says 'just arrived'..shouldnt it say 'just returned' :winky:
  10. Reference recording telephone conversations I would be interested to know the act and section which refers to a private individual recording conversations....... Im not aware of this....you say illegal..how , its certainly not a criminal offence Certain public organisations under the constraints of the Regulatory of Investorgatory powers act ie Local authority, police etc are bound by this legislation but how is a private individual
  11. saw motorhead live in Poole in 1980/1 ish.....must have been the ace of spades tour....couldnt hear for a week :D
  12. No matter how private your driveway is I cant believe you leave your kid in the car! I have 2 kids, and the yougest also regularly falls asleep whilst I'm driving (no comments please!) but when I get home - I lift him out and take him to the house.....easy......thats your solution......not how to disable the radar. Dont think they needed a parenting lesson on a Lexus forum what exacty is the the danger of your child sleeping in a locked car on a private driveway within your view None i would say, probably far less dangerous than if you were driving said car with child, along a road . Ive got 3 and all survived this practice....although the youngest is mentally scarred as i forgot to disable the alarm once
  13. Its all incidental, Glass's guide for my 53 plate IS200 last month was £6400. I was offered £5500 by 2 dealers over the phone on a new IS250 as well as £4k off the new price. I was also offered the same from a skoda dealer without even negotiating on a 3 yr old octavia Vrs. I was offered £4500 on a 2 year old GS300,this was upped a grand within a day and again over the phone. It doesnt mean anything however as others have said its the cost to change and your volvo may have been under book..if it wasnt then you were had over ...joke If someone got yours at the price given they have indeed got a bargain........ Incidently someone has recently posted that late plate is200's are now in demand at Lexus dealers
  14. i drive all sorts of cars at work and my stock IS200 handles brilliantly in comparison. I havent had the slightest twitch in in 18 months as i dont drive like a :tsktsk: is that the kiss of death or what
  15. No chance of 17k private for his GS300 i should think, dealers knocking similar out for roughly the same price
  16. do they come with free prawn sandwiches :winky:
  17. 43 here.......mere youngster :winky: slipped disc for 3 months with severe sciatica Cant sit down, cant lie down...can only stand up
  18. What will you spurs fans do when arry brings Campbell back then...defoe per chance, also cant help but think that Tony Adams may follow him... fickle bunch :winky: http://www.spurs.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum...443&start=1
  19. Probably so, but even then there are cautionary tales. Happy hunting! bloody right..mine had a missing service and had been in a previous accident with damage amounting to £3k at Lexus prices...yet still sold as Lexus approved :tsktsk: Lexus approved doesnt mean anything
  20. they would sell more cars if they made a bit more effort, however they do all seem to be offering a straight 4k off their over inflated prices as it is so go pre-armed with that knowledge They dont like chasing customers do they Its not the 'Lexus thing' A certain Lexus dealer ,who really couldnt be arsed, could have sold a new car to me last month...but they wouldnt return calls, wouldnt e mail and really couldnt be naffed, so stufff them...their loss
  21. It gets worse....I asked for a quote for a cambelt change and they forgot to put this on the quotation. The other £1700 was to change an oil seal on the steering rack and a seal on some part of the engine. I wouldn't mind but they didn't notice the 12 inch triangular chunk missing out of the front bumper which would have added another £600 for new bumper and paint. They were very kind though and said I could have the brakes done first and then move onto the less serious stuff like an oil leak............Honestly you could have written a comedy sketch out of it cos I am so dry with my humour they didn't realise I was taking the proverbial.....they even employed good service manager/bad service manager routine when a colleague piped up to offer support. I said that the car only cost me a grand and they said "yes but its only done 64,000 miles" - the carpet has a big hole in it because the previous owner didn't see it necessary to have a mat on the drivers side and rested his 20 odd stone heel on it wearing a hole right through to the chassis. The back window keeps going down on its own and the back fog lights have been wired into the back lights so I had to take the bulbs out....their prognosis was that I needed two bulbs...these were sat in the armrest. The drivers seat stiching has come apart in two places (see 20 stone driver) and there are more dents in the car than on those tin cans you get at the fairground shooting ranges. All together I reckon they would have taken about £6,000 off me in the next few months or so. Oh something else they offered to do for free was to replace a number plate bulb, well actually only the labour, I had to pay for the part. I deceided to buy one and do it myself - 50p. Suppose they call this added value in their team meetings....LMAO Maybe I will get all the work done and ask them for a £7,000 part exchange on a newer model. thats hilarious did you get a free coffee and a chocolate served up by the reception wench...cmon thats the only reason you took it in isnt it :D
  22. they looked offended lol, they expected you to cough up a quick £2500 and tell them to get on with it. They really must think the average Lexus owner is a muppet...when i was negotiating for my car they showed me the previous service bill...the bill the service dept had billed the sales room....£1200....was i impressed- no- most of it was for fitting a set of pads and discs. glad you stood your ground
